WorldSBK in Misano: Rea, Bautista, Krummenacher and Carrasco win the Sunday races in the three classes; excellent feedback for Pirelli from the SCX and standard solutions

On the Italian circuit the reigning World Champion Kawasaki rider does a brilliant double leaving only the Tissot Superpole® Race for Ducati rider Bautista; noteworthy performance by Toprak Razgatlioglu who rides his team Puccetti Kawasaki to the second step of the podium

The MOTUL FIM World Superbike Championship weekend at Misano World Circuit Marco Simoncelli has just drawn to a close with four winners in the three different Championship categories.
Jonathan Rea (Kawasaki Racing Team WorldSBK / Kawasaki ZX-10RR), after winning Race 1 on Saturday, also took Race 2, thereby giving the Akashi-based manufacturer a brilliant double and reducing the gap to 16 points behind current Championship leader Álvaro Bautista (Aruba.it Racing – Ducati / Ducati Panigale V4 R) who only managed to win the Sunday morning Tissot Superpole® Race and take third in Race 1 at Misano. Worth a mention is the performance of Toprak Razgatlioglu who, with his privately operated Turkish Puccetti Racing team Kawasaki, led Race 2 for several laps until being forced to yield the position to Rea.
The WorldSSP Championship race reserved a thrilling battle between teammates for Bardahl Evan Bros. WorldSSP Team Randy Krummenacher and Federico Caricasulo, with the Swiss rider finishing on top in the race, thereby bringing his advantage in the championship standings to 22 points over the Italian.
Lastly, in the WorldSSP300 Championship race, defending World Champion Ana Carrasco was back to her winning ways.

During the Misano weekend, Pirelli gathered important information and confirmation. First and foremost, is the information on the SCX, the solution that the Italian tyre company designed to be used as a pre-qualifier and possibly for the Sunday morning sprint race. After excellent feedback in Jerez, at Misano, the SCX was used by practically all the riders on the grid for the Tissot Superpole® Race, and Marco Melandri and Sandro Cortese even chose it for Race 2 over a 21-lap distance.
Also putting in an outstanding performance was the new SCR1 rear rain tyre on Saturday and the standard SC1 and SC0 rear solutions today, both in the new, larger 125/70 and 200/65 sizes.

WORLDSBK TISSOT SUPERPOLE® RACE:

In the Tissot Superpole® Race, Jonathan Rea (Kawasaki Racing Team WorldSBK / Kawasaki ZX-10RR) started well straight away from pole position, but Álvaro Bautista (Aruba.it Racing – Ducati / Ducati Panigale V4 R) managed to move up from fifth to second as early as the first lap. Behind them it was, Sandro Cortese (GRT Yamaha WorldSBK / Yamaha YZF R1) who lost a position, as did Tom Sykes (BMW Motorrad WorldSBK Team / BMW S1000 RR), slipping from third to fourth.
During the third lap, the Spanish Ducati rider succeeded in overtaking the defending World Champion, moving into the race lead. On the following lap, the other factory Ducati rider, Chaz Davies, crashed out on turn 14 for a DNF.
Bautista tried to set his race pace straight away, doing the race fast lap and starting the fifth lap with a one-second advantage over his closest rival, Jonathan Rea.
On the eighth lap, Sandro Cortese, who had been lying third, crashed on turn 16 and was forced to box. Shortly thereafter, Rea also crashed on turn 10, but was able to recover and get back on the track in sixth place. On the final lap, a technical problem knocked Tom Sykes out of the race.
At the end of the ten-lap race, Álvaro Bautista (Aruba.it Racing – Ducati / Ducati Panigale V4 R) took the win with an advantage of more than seven seconds over Alex Lowes (Pata Yamaha Official WorldSBK Team / Yamaha YZF R1) and more than nine seconds ahead of Leon Haslam (Kawasaki Racing Team WorldSBK / Kawasaki ZX-10RR), who finished third It was an excellent fourth place finish for Toprak Razgatlioglu (Turkish Puccetti Racing / Kawasaki ZX-10RR), the first of the private teams, while Rea had to settle for fifth.

WORLDSSP300 RACE:

The final event of the day was the FIM Supersport 300 World Championship race.Winning the race was defending World Champion, Ana Carrasco (Kawasaki Provec WorldSSP300 / Kawasaki Ninja 400), who finished ahead of Spaniard Manuel Gonzalez (Kawasaki ParkingGO Team / Kawasaki Ninja 400)and Frenchman Andy Verdoïa (BCD Yamaha MS Racing / Yamaha YZF-R3).

The Pirelli solutions chosen by the riders for the WorldSBK and WorldSSP races:

In the Tissot Superpole® Race, with the exception of Ryūichi Kiyonari, the rear pre-qualifying SCX solution in the Y0447 specification (option X) earned the preference of all the riders on the grid, whereas at the front, everyone used the standard SC1 in the 125/70 size (option A).

In Race 2, the riders basically confirmed the solutions they had chosen for the front, so the standard SC1 in the 125/70 size (option A) remained primarily the most used solution. As for the rear, most of the riders opted for the standard SC0 (option B), but there were some riders who preferred relying on the Y0446 SC0 development tyre (option A), such as Toprak Razgatlioglu, Tom Sykes, Markus Reiterberger and Lorenzo Zanetti, and there were even those who went with the SCX - Marco Melandri and Sandro Cortese.

In the WorldSSP race, the winning combination was made ups of the standard SC1 (option A) front tyre and the Y0410 SC0 development solution in the larger 190/60 size (option B) on the rear.
