At the end of the two days of testing Pirelli announces the race solutions for the first round of the MOTUL FIM World Superbike Championship which will be held in Australia

Jonathan Rea on his Kawasaki Racing Team WorldSBK Kawasaki ZX-10RR in WorldSBK and Andrea Locatelli on his BARDAHL Evan Bros. WorldSSP Team Yamaha YZF R6 in WorldSSP are the riders who had the best times during the tests

At the end of the two days of testing that historically precede the opening round of the MOTUL FIM World Superbike Championship, Pirelli discloses the solutions that will be made available to the riders in the WorldSBK and WorldSSP riders for the races to be held next weekend on the Australian Phillip Island circuit.
The WorldSBK class riders took to the track for four hours a day, split into two sessions of two hours each, whereas the WorldSSP riders had two sessions a day of one hour and fifty minutes each.

The WorldSBK rider who did the fastest lap during the tests was Reigning World Champion Jonathan Rea with team Kawasaki Racing Team WorldSBK and a time of 1’30.448, achieved during the third session. Behind him were riders with five different manufacturers in the top six positions, all within just over 4 tenths of one another, to highlight the outstanding versatility and adaptability of the Pirelli tyres. In the WorldSSP class, the fastest rider was the newly signed rider with BARDAHL Evan Bros. WorldSSP Team, Andrea Locatelli, who did his best time at 1’32.831 in the final test session.

After receiving the data and information from the riders, for the WorldSBK category, Pirelli confirms all the solutions used during the tests for the race weekend as well, along with other development solutions.
The WorldSSPclass will also use the solutions that were available during the days of testing for the race. This year, for the first time, the 600 class used slicks instead of the grooved tyres that had been used up to last year.

The race solutions:

In the WorldSBK class, the riders will have seven slick solutions available, two front and five rear, in addition to intermediate and rain tyres. The front options, all used during the tests as well, are the new standard SC1 in soft compound and standard SC2 in medium compound, both in the 125/70 size. As for the rear options, in addition to the two medium compound development options already provided in the tests, another medium compound option is added with Y1093 specification, the SCX solution and the qualifying tyre.

In WorldSSP, both for the front and for the rear, the riders will have the solutions already used during the tests available, namely the standard SC1 and SC2 tyres for the front and the two options in medium compound Y1006 and Y1035 for the rear.

More details on the race solutions for the WorldSBK and WorldSSP classes are available on the relative technical data sheets attached to this press release.
