Double victory for Scorpion MX at the Grand Prix of Portugal

Domination at the seventh round of sixteen as four of the first five positions secured with Pirelli riders in MX2 and MX1 For the third time in as many years the red dirt of Agueda was the happy hunting ground for Clement Desalle who celebrated victory in the premier class on his Suzuki by using Pirelli Scorpion MX MidSoft 32. Desalle relied on the MidSoft 32 front and rear – like the other Pirelli riders - for the loose Portuguese top soil and hard-pack terrain and led the first moto from the first lap until the finish over Christophe Pourcel. The Belgian again set the pace in the second race but by the middle of the moto the superior rhythm of Gautier Paulin and Antonio Cairoli meant that he had to settle for third, which was still sufficient for his first overall triumph of the season. Following the Belgian in the final classification was Paulin and Cairoli; the latter taking third place in the first moto after a mistake with his race tactics. Fourth and fifth positions were secured by more Pirelli riders with Pourcel ahead of Ken De Dycker. 2011 vice world champion Steven Frossard was missing in action due to an operation for a reconstruction on his right knee that will cause the Frenchman to be on the sidelines for the next six months. The MX2 podium was a carbon copy of the ceremony in France the previous week with series leader KTM’s Jeffrey Herlings taking the top step ahead of Tommy Searle, and his team-mate Jeremy Van Horebeek in third just ahead of Honda’s Max Anstie.
