Faggioli claims another win with Pirelli on the 71st Trento Bondone Hillclimb

For the 12th time, Italian ace Simone Faggioli has won the stand-out event on Italy’s hillclimb calendar, driving a Norma M20 FC Bardhall equipped with Pirelli tyres on the Trento Bondone race, which celebrated its 71st running this year.

Faggioli dominated the 17.3-kilometre course, which climbs for 1350 metres with an average gradient of 8.88. The weather was warm and dry with asphalt temperatures that peaked at 50 degrees centigrade, unlike last year’s rainy conditions.

The P Zero Soft hillclimb tyre was an eseential ingredient in Faggioli’s latest victory, thanks to its immediate response and precise turn-in.

Pirelli’s rally activity manager Terenzio Testoni said: “It was another fantastic performance from Simone, who was a key part of the development of our hillclimb tyre, to add another victory to our record of achievement together. You need consistent performance from start to finish to win the longest hillclimb event in Europe. This is what our soft tyres delivered, allowing Simone to be rapid and regular at every point throughout the race.”

Simone Faggioli, whose winning time was 9m04s – ahead of the second-fastest time of 9m25s – added: “Today was very hot with extreme race conditions. Only a perfect car set-up and reliable tyres like our P Zeros could lead to such a big gaps over our rivals.”
