ITALIAN PRIME MINISTER MATTEO RENZI VISITS PIRELLI RESEARCH AND DEVELOPMENT CENTRE AT MILAN HEADQUARTERS

Italian Prime Minister Matteo Renzi, accompanied by the Chairman and CEO of Pirelli Marco Tronchetti Provera, today visited Pirelli’s Research and Development Centre at the company’s Milan headquarters, the companies historic seat. The participants also included Alberto Pirelli, deputy chairman of Pirelli, Maurizio Boiocchi, Pirelli’s general manager technology, and Gregorio Borgo, Pirelli’s general manager operations. Pirelli’s centre for Research and Development in Milan is the group’s main laboratory for the group’s product and process innovation, backed by another 10 company centres in the world. Pirelli’s Research and Development area involves approximately 1,400 engineers and specialists worldwide, of which over 400 at the centre in Milan, engaged in the activities in the group’s centres and in the ‘open innovation’ projects that Pirelli has with academy and university research centres around the world, with suppliers and producers of Premium cars in original equipment. Pirelli’s commitment to Research and Development can be seen in its dedicated investment, equal to over 3% annualy of total revenues and over 7% of revenues in the Premium segment where the company’s production is focused.
