Milan, 1 September 2026 – Pirelli has developed two dedicated tyre fitments for the new Bentley Supersports, the coupé engineered to deliver the ultimate driving experience. They are the P Zero Trofeo RS, designed to enhance the car's sporting character, particularly on track, and the P Zero, developed for everyday driving. To mark the centenary of the "Super Sports" name, first introduced in 1925, the Crewe-based manufacturer has once again chosen Pirelli as its partner to harness the capabilities of a car that is radically different from any previous Continental GT: rear-wheel drive for the first time in the model's history (excluding the Continental GT3 race car), kerb weight below two tonnes, and 666 hp, 800 Nm twin-turbocharged V8 powertrain.

Bespoke development for a truly unique Bentley

Pirelli's collaboration with Bentley on the Supersports began with the most demanding technical brief ever set for a road-going Continental GT. The switch to rear-wheel drive, the introduction of an electronic limited-slip differential combined with brake-based torque vectoring, active rear-wheel steering, and a chassis featuring a rear track widened by 16 mm required tyres capable of managing completely different load transfers and drive force distribution compared with the all-wheel-drive Continental GT Speed.

This is further complemented by the car's aerodynamic package, which generates more than 300 kg of additional downforce compared with the Continental GT Speed through a larger front splitter, dive planes, side skirts, rear wheel arch vents and a rear diffuser. These elements significantly alter the vertical load acting on the tyres as speed increases. Pirelli engineers therefore fine-tuned the compounds, construction and tread pattern through an extensive development program—starting with virtual simulations before progressing to road and track testing—in close collaboration with Bentley's engineering team. The objective was to deliver consistent performance across all driving modes specified by the manufacturer, from Touring to Sport.

The result is two dedicated homologations, both identified by the "B" marking reserved by Pirelli for tyres developed specifically for Bentley.

P Zero: the original equipment fitment

The 22-inch Pirelli P Zero is fitted to the Supersports as its original equipment tyre, designed to complement the car's everyday usability and grand touring capabilities without compromising the sporting character that defines it. Its construction and compound have been optimized to combine ride comfort, low noise levels and steering precision, while delivering grip levels commensurate with the car's power and weight. Although significantly lighter than the Continental GT, the Supersports places considerable demands on its tyres due to its exceptional performance.

The P Zero has been specifically tuned to work in harmony with the Supersports' suspension and dual-chamber dampers, ensuring precise responses and outstanding stability.

P Zero Trofeo RS: the choice for track driving

For customers seeking the ultimate performance, Pirelli has developed the first bespoke P Zero Trofeo RS ever for a Bentley. This 22-inch semi-slick tyre is road legal yet engineered with a clear track-focused philosophy, representing another milestone in the partnership between the two brands.

Drawing directly on Pirelli's motorsport expertise, the compound, carcass construction and internal reinforcements have been specifically designed to withstand the significant aerodynamic loads generated by the Supersports, allowing the car to express its full dynamic potential. Equipped with this fitment, the Supersports achieves peak lateral acceleration of 1.3 g and improves cornering speeds by approximately 30% compared with the Continental GT Speed.

One anecdote from the development program illustrates just how impressive the performance proved to be. During the first track test on P Zero Trofeo RS tyres, the level of lateral grip exceeded the parameters anticipated by the vehicle's electronic control systems, triggering the seat belt pretensioners.

The P Zero Trofeo RS therefore represents the intersection of Pirelli's road tyre engineering and its motorsport know-how, offered as an option for customers wishing to explore the Supersports' full capabilities with complete confidence and control.

Perfect Fit: the hallmark of Pirelli's bespoke development

Both tyre fitments have been developed through Pirelli's "Perfect Fit" programme, the co-development process through which the company designs bespoke tyres for individual vehicle models in close collaboration with manufacturers' engineering teams. Combining advanced virtual simulations with joint testing programmes, Perfect Fit enables every aspect of the tyre—from compound and construction to tread pattern and carcass stiffness—to be optimized for the specific characteristics of each vehicle, ensuring seamless integration between tyre and vehicle.

This latest development builds on the long-standing partnership between Pirelli and Bentley, over the many years of  the evolution of the Continental GT range which now enters a new chapter with the Supersports, the purest and most driver-focused Bentley ever produced.

The relationship dates back to the early 1980s, when the first dedicated tyres were developed for the Bentley Mulsanne Turbo R and RT. Pirelli has since engineered bespoke solutions for a wide range of Bentley models, from the Arnage and Continental GT to the Bentayga, for which specific 23-inch P Zero tyres were developed. Over the years, Pirelli has also supplied tyres for several Bentley racing programs, including the Continental GT3, contributing to the cars' success across multiple championships.

The partnership with the Crewe marque has also helped secure some of Bentley's most significant achievements, including the production SUV record at the Pikes Peak International Hill Climb with the Bentley Bentayga in 2018, followed by the outright production car record with the Bentley Continental GT in 2019. Most recently, in 2024, the Continental GT Speed set a speed record inside a subsea tunnel in Norway.

Milan, 5 August 2026 – The technical collaboration between the Research & Development teams at Pirelli and Porsche has reached another milestone with the development of tyres for the first all-electric Cayenne.

For the first all-electric Cayenne, Pirelli has developed six tailor-made tyre fitments through an entirely virtual design process, each engineered to match the vehicle's different characteristics across varying seasonal conditions. These include the fifth generation of the P Zero, designed to deliver the ideal balance of performance, efficiency and range, as well as the P Zero R for the high-performance Cayenne Turbo. The range also includes two winter tyre options and one All Season tyre. All are equipped with Pirelli's Elect technology, specifically developed to meet the demands of electric mobility. Pirelli Elect is a package of technologies designed for electric and plug-in hybrid vehicles, enhancing their performance through low rolling resistance to maximize driving range and reduce charging costs, while dedicated compounds and structures provide outstanding grip when managing instant torque and increased vehicle weight, together with improved wear resistance and lower noise levels for greater acoustic comfort.

VIRTUAL DEVELOPMENT FOR PORSCHE SUV DRIVING DYNAMICS

The new Porsche Cayenne Electric sets new benchmarks in the SUV segment thanks to an advanced chassis and sophisticated control systems capable of managing drive torque within milliseconds. To support this level of engineering complexity, Pirelli adopted a fully virtual development approach, with every aspect of the new tyre fitment tested before physical prototypes were produced, significantly optimizing development times compared with traditional processes. Technical choices – including different compounds according to tyre specification, axle and size – were specifically engineered to deliver precise steering response and outstanding stability, even under the high dynamic loads generated by the all-wheel-drive electric powertrain. This development reflects Pirelli's Perfect Fit strategy, which delivers bespoke tyre solutions tailored to the specific characteristics of each vehicle.

P ZERO: PORSCHE PERFORMANCE, EFFICIENCY AND WET-GRIP CONTROL

For the Cayenne Electric, Pirelli has developed a dedicated P Zero, available in 21- and 22-inch sizes, with different specifications for the front and rear axles, designed for drivers seeking the optimum balance between efficiency, Porsche-level performance and safety in wet conditions. The tyre focuses on three key areas: efficiency, achieved through low rolling resistance compounds that maximize battery range; the dynamic performance expected of a Porsche, enabling demanding manoeuvres such as high-speed lane changes without compromising stability; and outstanding wet-weather safety.

P ZERO R: TRACTION AND GRIP WITH THE DNA OF THE 911

Alongside the P Zero, Pirelli has developed a dedicated 22-inch P Zero R, with specific front and rear axle specifications, to unlock the full performance potential of the Porsche Cayenne Electric. Pirelli developed specific compounds to meet the traction and grip requirements of the high-performance Turbo version, which accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in just 2.5 seconds. The P Zero R features an ultra-high-performance compound developed from Pirelli's extensive motorsport expertise, delivering performance close to that of the semi-slick P Zero Trofeo RS. It uses the same compound as the one developed for the 911, adapted to meet the challenges of the Cayenne Electric's greater weight and increased wear demands. Its balance has been fine-tuned through different compounds for the front and rear axles, together with an optimized contact patch, ensuring that the instant torque delivered by the electric motors is translated into maximum longitudinal traction while maintaining exceptional stability throughout every phase of driving. This approach provides extremely precise and responsive driving experience, fully enhancing the vehicle's dynamic capabilities despite its high torque output.

In addition to the P Zero family, Pirelli has developed a dedicated Scorpion Winter 2 as the approved winter fitment, available in 20- and 22-inch sizes, as well as a 20-inch Scorpion MS All Season tyre.

Among the highlights of the 2026 edition is the new Ferrari Luce, for which Pirelli has developed a bespoke P Zero E: the tyre that combines high performance with more than 55% bio-based and recycled materials, together with low rolling resistance, in a record-setting 24-inch size. Representing the sportiest end of the range is the P Zero Trofeo RS, fitted on the Bentley Supersports, Porsche Taycan Turbo GT with Manthey Kit, and BMW M2 with M Performance Track Kit. Also equipped with Pirelli’s semi-slick tyre is the Pagani Utopia Roadster, the first car to adopt Cyber Tyre, Pirelli’s technology that enables tyres to communicate directly with the vehicle’s electronic systems through integrated sensors. In the luxury and comfort segment, the Rolls-Royce Spectre and Jaguar Type 01 are fitted with P Zero Elect tyres, developed specifically for electric and plug-in hybrid vehicles. Both models also feature large-diameter tyres of up to 23 inches.

Among the vehicles fitted with Pirelli P Zero Trofeo RS tyres is the Koenigsegg Sadair's Spear megacar, as well as its LEGO Technic replica, which set the speed record for a drivable LEGO car on the Goodwood Hillclimb, reaching 111 km/h.

Every tyre in the P Zero family shares a technological heritage rooted in motorsport, which has always served as Pirelli’s open-air laboratory. Through its involvement at the highest levels of competition, including more than 350 motorsport events each year, Pirelli develops technological innovations, such as virtual development processes, that are subsequently transferred to road tyre production. It is no coincidence that the tyres used by Pirelli in the world’s most prestigious racing series also carry the P Zero name, starting with Formula 1.

The integration of the physical sensors used in the Pirelli Cyber™ Tyre system with RIDEsense's virtual sensors (algorithms that process information generated by the sensors already installed in vehicles) will further expand the contribution of Cyber™ Tyre to the vehicle's electronic safety systems. It will also strengthen existing functions, such as aquaplaning detection, while enabling the development of new capabilities related to tyre diagnostics and, more broadly, vehicle diagnostics. PIRELLI CYBER™ TYRE

Already fitted as original equipment on selected vehicle models currently on the market, the Pirelli Cyber™ Tyre system is the world's first integrated hardware and software solution capable of collecting data from sensors embedded in tyres and processing it using Pirelli's proprietary software and algorithms. The information is transmitted to the vehicle's electronic systems in real time, enabling new functions integrated with driving and control systems, including ABS, ESP and traction control. The aim of Pirelli's technology is to improve vehicle safety, performance and efficiency. It can also be used to monitor the condition of road infrastructure, helping to identify situations that may pose potential risks to road users. Pilot projects for this application are already underway in collaboration with public authorities.

RIDEsense

RIDEsense's technology is based on physics-based algorithms that model vehicle and tyre behaviour. It is available both as software, implementing virtual sensors within standard production vehicle electronic control units (ECUs), and as hardware through the development of the dedicated Kymes platform, designed to provide direct access to the testing and motorsport markets.

P Zero Trofeo RS: the benchmark for the track

With this latest Nürburgring achievement, the Pirelli P Zero Trofeo RS confirms its status as the tyre to beat on the track. First developed as original equipment for hypercars and supercars, and already available in bespoke versions for Stuttgart-based models such as the Porsche 911 GT3 and GT3 RS, it is now also available on the replacement market, bringing Pirelli’s experience gained through tailor-made fitments for the highest-performing prestige and premium models to all customers. It is designed for drivers seeking ultra-high-performance tyres capable of maximising the sporting performance of their cars. Although conceived for track use, it is also homologated for road driving.

The version developed specifically for the Porsche Taycan Turbo GT with Manthey Kit is the first production tyre made with more than 50% certified bio-based and recycled materials to contribute to a Nürburgring record. This percentage is identified by a dedicated logo on the tyre sidewall. In addition, the natural rubber used in the tyre is FSC® (Forest Stewardship Council®) certified, a label that guarantees responsible management of the supply chain, from forest to factory.

Tyre Reviews: “The fastest tyre in the world”

The qualities of the P Zero Trofeo RS were recently confirmed by the Tyre Reviews platform, which recognised it as “the best among the fastest tyres in the world,” highlighting its dry performance and remarkable consistency. Auto Bild Sportscars magazine also crowned it the best tyre for track use, awarding it an “Exemplary” rating after comparing five road-legal semi-slick tyres.

THE JOURNEY OF PIRELLI CYBER TYRE

The Pagani Utopia Roadster equipped with Cyber Tyre technology as original equipment departed from the headquarters of Pagani Automobili in San Cesario sul Panaro, north of Bologna, where it was designed and built. The Italian hypercar was the first model to adopt this system integrated with the electronic systems governing vehicle dynamics. Communication between the tyres and systems such as ABS, ESP and traction control was enabled through the collaboration with Bosch, particularly with Bosch Engineering, the second stop on the journey, in Abstatt, north of Stuttgart. Finally, the journey returned to Italy, to Milan, home to Pirelli headquarters, where the technology was conceived and developed. Explaining the Cyber Tyre system throughout the various stages of the journey were Horacio Pagani, founder and driving force behind Pagani Automobili; Dr. Johannes-Joerg Rueger, CEO of Bosch Engineering; Piero Misani, CTO of Pirelli; and Corrado Rocca, Head of the Pirelli Cyber Unit.

NEXT DEVELOPMENTS OF PIRELLI CYBER TYRE

First adopted by the Pagani Utopia Roadster, Cyber Tyre technology is now being implemented on other vehicle models across both the premium and prestige automotive segments. The objective is widespread adoption across a broad range of vehicles to maximize its contribution to safety. At the same time, the integration of additional sensors through sensor fusion technology is paving the way for the evolution towards autonomous driving and ADAS systems. Connected vehicles also open the door to interaction with infrastructure: vehicles will not only be connected with one another, but also with surrounding infrastructure. In this context, Pirelli has launched new agreements to apply Cyber Tyre to road infrastructure monitoring, as is already the case on the Italian motorway network. Pirelli technology can in fact deliver both enhanced safety and performance functions for individual vehicles equipped with the system, as well as road monitoring capabilities, enabling predictive maintenance solutions designed to improve road safety efficiently. For this reason, Pirelli recently acquired a 30% stake in Univrses, a Swedish computer vision company capable of “reading” roads and vertical signage through onboard cameras and AI algorithms.

Cyber Tyre technology is therefore continuing to expand both in functionality and in adoption. Recently, Pirelli announced that production of the system will soon begin in the United States, at its plant in Rome, Georgia. The Rome facility, already dedicated to high-value and motorsport production, will now also host the pinnacle of Pirelli technology, represented by the Cyber Tyre system.

Milan, 14 May 2026 – Pirelli has developed two different tyre fitments for the new BMW iX3, designed to enhance specific features of the new vehicle. Starting with the dedicated P Zero version aimed at precise handling, while the P Zero E highlights the characteristics of electric drivetrains.  Both products are part of the P Zero family of tyres, known for high performance thanks to the innovation that distinguishes Pirelli products.

Both fitments developed for the first Neue Klasse model – the German manufacturer’s new platform for EV models – feature Pirelli Elect technology, designed to enhance the performance of electric and plug-in hybrid vehicles by significantly improving range^[1], comfort and durability^[2], thanks to low rolling resistance and dedicated solutions.

In addition to Elect technology, the P Zero E – a flagship of Pirelli’s technological development – offers a triple A rating on the European label and boasts over 55% natural and recycled materials. These features earned the ADI Compasso d’Oro International Award and the P Zero E is the first tyre in history to win the world’s most prestigious industrial design award, presented at Expo 2025 in Osaka.

Pirelli P Zero: sportiness and performance at the core

The dedicated version of the fifth-generation P Zero was designed to support the performance of the high-output electric drivetrains delivering instant torque. The tyre ensures precision and stability even at high speeds, thanks to its optimised structure designed to handle the instant torque delivery of the electric powertrain. The P Zero’s strengths are performance and safety, with track-tested handling and reduced braking distances. These results are achieved thanks to an innovative compound developed by Pirelli engineers using artificial intelligence.

Pirelli P Zero E: the champion of Pirelli’s Eco-Safety strategy

Alongside the P Zero, Pirelli introduces the P Zero E on the BMW iX3, representing Pirelli’s eco-safety strategy, which aims to combine safety, durability, and attention to environmental impact throughout the product’s entire life cycle, in line with the new Neue Klasse paradigm of the Munich-based manufacturer. The tyre stands out for its more than 55% natural and recycled materials and for its triple A rating on the European label for rolling resistance, wet braking, and noise. The tyre’s architecture reduces rolling resistance, contributing to energy efficiency and the high range of the iX3, while low noise levels improve acoustic comfort, a crucial aspect for this zero-emission model. The tailor-made design for the iX3 also enhances chassis responsiveness and the smoothness of the new electronic driving dynamics management.

The P Zero for BMW iX3 is available in 20-inch all-around fitments and 21-inch staggered fitments, while the P Zero E is offered in 22-inch, also with a staggered configuration.

Developed in a virtual environment in Breuberg and Munich

For the development of the dedicated fitments, Pirelli’s R&D team used advanced technologies from the Virtual Development Center (VDC) in Breuberg (Germany) and the BMW Group Driving Simulation Centre in Munich. Advanced virtual simulation techniques, combined with a new package of materials in the internal compound and structural reinforcements, made it possible to overcome typical tyre trade-offs such as the balance between handling, rolling resistance, and wet performance. Virtual design and testing offer several advantages, including greater precision compared to traditional methods, reduced development times by 30%, and approximately one-third fewer physical prototypes.

The Perfect Fit philosophy

In line with Pirelli’s Perfect Fit approach, the new tyres are distinguished by the presence of the “star marking” on the sidewall, which identifies fitments specifically developed for BMW. They have been designed in close collaboration with the Munich-based manufacturer and tailored to maximise the performance of the new BMW iX3.

In 2025, Pirelli yet launched a road monitoring project in Puglia using Cyber Tyre plus Univrses technology

Milan/Stockholm, 29 April 2026  – Pirelli and Swedish company Univrses have signed an agreement that provides for the integration into the Pirelli Cyber Tyre system of AI‑based computer vision technologies. Under the agreement, through which Pirelli has acquired a 30% stake in the Swedish company (with the option to reach a majority stake), Univrses’ 3DAI™ technologies will be integrated into Pirelli’s Cyber™ Tyre system solutions. The combination of the technologies developed by Univrses and Pirelli will deliver vehicles that are safer and more performant, with potential applications in ADAS and autonomous driving systems, and will also deliver timely, relevant and actionable data, seamlessly, for a range of road management use cases. Insights will enable road authorities to make better decisions and deploy resources more effectively - potentially reducing road-related accidents and saving lives.

THE PIRELLI AND UNIVRSES’ TECHNOLOGIES

The technologies permit to use onboard cameras and tyres to collect data that provide vital feedback on road conditions.

In particular, Pirelli Cyber™ Tyre, which is the world’s first integrated hardware and software system capable of collecting data from sensors inside the tyres, process the information collected using Pirelli’s proprietary software and algorithms, and communicate in real time with the vehicle’s electronics and with the cloud, enhancing cars’ safety systems and permitting to monitor road infrastructures’ status.

Univrses’ technology, originally developed to give cars the ability to make sense of their surroundings, has been adapted to turn vehicles into AI-enabled road monitoring agents. The Swedish company has developed 3DAI^TM Engine - software that gives autonomous vehicles perception capability (3D Positioning, 3D Mapping, Spatial Deep Learning) - and 3DAI^TM - an AI-powered system that digitises city and roadside infrastructure, fed by the data from sensors, such as cameras, installed on vehicles.

Victory for the P Zero Trofeo RS also in the comparitive test by the German magazine Auto Bild Sportscars.

Milan, 20 April 2026 – The Pirelli P Zero Trofeo RS is the best among the world’s fastest tyres, designed for track use but also approved for road driving. This is according to the Tyre Reviews platform, which compared four products available on the European and North American markets. The P Zero Trofeo RS represents the pinnacle of Pirelli’s road range and incorporates technological solutions derived from its motorsport experience, where the company has competed at the highest levels for 120 years.

“I had to recalibrate my braking points twice because the grip was always beyond my expectations,” said Jonathan Benson during the dry handling test, where the P Zero Trofeo RS ranked first, setting the fastest lap time and proving to be “clearly superior”. During testing, it enabled quick and precise turn-in, allowing earlier throttle application and delivering immediate traction on corner exit. The front axle showed a high level of grip and confidence: “It was the first time I didn’t feel I had to constantly  understeer through corners”. In the dry braking test, the Pirelli tyre also ranked first, recording the shortest stopping distance.

In addition, the Pirelli tyre stood out for its consistency of performance, confirming one of the product’s key characteristics: even under the most demanding conditions, it is able to maintain high performance over time.

These characteristics were also confirmed by another recent test conducted by the magazine Auto Bild Sportscars, which compared five road-legal semi-slick tyres. In this test too, the P Zero Trofeo RS secured first place in the comparison with the rating “Exemplary”, achieving victory thanks to its best-in-class dry performance and high level of consistency over long distances.

Tailored performance for maximum power

The P Zero R for the 911 Turbo S was designed to effectively transfer the 523 kW (711 hp) delivered by the engine to the ground. Its specific design enables it to handle torque of 800 Nm, enhancing both the new model’s dynamic capabilities and driving pleasure. In addition to optimal grip in dry conditions, the tyre ensures consistent traction across different surfaces and a wide range of weather conditions, with particular attention to safety and control in wet conditions. The tread pattern has been engineered to minimize noise for improved comfort, while optimized rolling resistance contributes to the vehicle’s overall efficiency.

Pirelli Perfect Fit strategy and technical specifications

In line with the Pirelli Perfect Fit philosophy, each tyre is designed to precisely match the technical characteristics of its target vehicle. This well-established collaborative approach between Pirelli and Porsche has already led to the development of specific P Zero R fitments for other models in the 911 range, such as the Porsche 911 GTS, the first with a hybrid powertrain. The new P Zero R tyres for the Porsche 911 Turbo S feature the “N” marking on the sidewall, symbolizing joint development to achieve optimal fitment for every version of the 911. To optimize the contact patch and traction of the new car, the rear axle uses 325/30 ZR 21 tyres, ten millimeters wider than the previous generation. The front axle retains 255/35 ZR 20 tyres, ensuring the dynamic balance required of this benchmark sports car in its segment.

P Zero R ad hoc development to maximize braking performance and grip

Audi’s primary objective was braking performance: the P Zero R was designed to approach the levels of the Trofeo R – Pirelli’s semi-slick tyre already fitted on other RS models – ensuring extremely short stopping distances, with very rapid and repeatable deceleration even under stress conditions. To achieve this result, Pirelli’s German R&D center in Breuberg focused on the compound, in close collaboration with Milan headquarters, leveraging experience gained in motorsport. The new compound has been optimized to deliver superior performance even when cold and a very high level of grip, responding to Audi’s specific request to focus on safety and control during deceleration. Even with performance levels close to track-oriented products, the P Zero R is designed for everyday use on sports cars and has higher efficiency—certified by the European label—compared to the main ultra-high-performance products.

“The tyre is the only connection between the vehicle and the road surface. Therefore, it plays a significant role in chassis development, especially in our RS models, where excellent handling has paramount importance”, says Steffen Bamberger, Head of Technical Development at Audi Sport GmbH. “Plus a close, collaborative partnership is essential to achieving this level of performance”.

The perfect balance of road and track

The RS 3 competition limited, created to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the five-cylinder engine, features a coilover suspension, increased top speed and ceramic brakes, thus providing impressive driving dynamics. Two tyre types are available: the standard P Zero R demonstrates a strong grip level on both dry and wet surfaces, and combines everyday comfort with sporty characteristics. Beyond that the P Zero Trofeo R semi-slick is specifically designed for track use but homologated for road driving. In addition to an asymmetrical tread pattern, the tyre features a specific rubber compound, derived from motorsport. This combination ensures a remarkably high level of grip and increased performance in dry conditions. Stability and lateral support are further enhanced, and braking distances are particularly short.

Joint development, including virtual simulation

The development process leveraged digital simulation both at Pirelli and Audi’s R&D centers, making it possible to simulate tyre behavior by taking into account weight distribution and contact patch, and to optimize the management of high torque and wear resistance. Physical tests then confirmed the virtual data through joint sessions on some of the most demanding circuits in the world, from the Nürburgring Nordschleife for handling and durability, to test tracks in Spain and laboratories in Milan.

Hybrid RS performance redefined: precision tyre for RS level dynamics

The first high-performance plug-in hybrid (PHEV) from Audi Sport, the RS 5 marks a historic step and a technological challenge that required the development of the first High Load (HL) tyre size for this model. The structure of the P Zero R has been reinforced to support the greater weight of the hybrid components, while ensuring the driving precision required for an Audi RS vehicle. This dedicated tyre allows the high torque of the hybrid system to be effectively transferred to the road, offering greater grip and stability. Pirelli supplies the performance‑oriented 21‑inch tyre fitment (285/30 R21), specifically developed to enhance the vehicle’s performance.

A historic partnership under the banner of Perfect Fit

The new fitments are the result of over 25 years of collaboration between Pirelli and Audi Sport: the very first RS 4 launched 25 years ago already featured tyres from the P Zero family, leading up to the RS 4 Competition, for which Pirelli is the exclusive Original Equipment supplier. In 2024, Audi also fitted the Audi RS 4 Avant edition 25 years with Pirelli Cyber Tyre technology, in a version for track use that monitors tyre conditions and transmits them to the driver.

Launched in 2025, the tyre for premium sedans and CUVs has proven to be a benchmark for safety, dry and wet performance, longevity, and balanced dynamic behavior. The new Pirelli Cinturato, which had already collected 2 wins last year, secured another 2 outright victories and 3 podiums in the first two months of 2026 in 6 comparative tests organized by specialized magazines and independent European organizations. The Cinturato achieved two first place finishes in the tests conducted by Tyre Reviews and Automobilclub von Deutschland (AvD), in addition to top positions in the comparative tests by Europe’s largest automobile club, ADAC (Allgemeiner Deutscher Automobil-Club), the German magazine Auto Zeitung, and the Swedish magazine Vi Bilägare, as well as being rated “exemplary” by Auto Bild.

Tyre Reviews says Cinturato a benchmark for control

In Tyre Reviews’ The BEST Summer Tyres for 2026” comparative test, the Cinturato achieved joint first place, standing out for delivering the best dry braking performance among all tested tyres. The review described it as “the best summer tyre of 2026,” highlighting its optimal dynamic balance and precise steering response, which provide the driver with a strong sense of control. The publication also emphasized the excellent wet performance, where the Cinturato consistently ranked at the top, confirming its all-round capabilities.

For AvD: “excellent” safety on many surfaces

The Cinturato triumphed in the summer test conducted by Automobilclub von Deutschland in size 215/55 R17, with its performance rated as “excellent,” particularly in safety-related categories. The tyre recorded the best test results for dry braking and lateral aquaplaning resistance, demonstrating superior stability even in adverse weather conditions and ideal balance across the various testing disciplines.
 

International podium places: ADAC, Auto Zeitung and Vi Bilägare

The Cinturato’s technological value was further confirmed by tests conducted by ADAC in size 225/50 R17, where it secured second place with a “Highly Recommended” rating. In this test, in addition to safe driving performance on both wet and dry surfaces and highly balanced handling, the tyre’s efficiency was recognized thanks to its higher durability compared to other products ensured by its high wear-resistant compound and reduced environmental impact. Auto Zeitung also awarded the Cinturato a podium position in size 235/45 R18, describing it as “a tyre without weaknesses,” extremely safe in handling and capable of delivering convincing mileage performance. Meanwhile, the Swedish magazine Vi Bilägare placed the Pirelli product second on the podium in size 205/55 R16, praising its agile character, cornering precision and short braking distances.

“Exemplary” according to Auto Bild

Rounding off this outstanding start to the season was the result achieved in Auto Bild’s major test in size 245/45 R19. After a qualification phase in which the Cinturato ranked among the best performers in braking distance out of a field of 50 candidates, the tyre confirmed its capabilities in the final evaluations. Testers highlighted its balanced handling and precise steering, particularly on wet surfaces, with very high levels of grip and braking performance.

DRY AND WET SAFETY, COMFORT AND HIGH MILEAGE

The new Scorpion stands out for its excellent performance in both dry and wet conditions, certified by the independent TÜV institute[1], which awarded it the Premium Quality Mark. The tyre ranked first in dry braking tests and obtained first place in wet handling, while also positioning itself at the top for wet braking and straight-line aquaplaning. When launched, the entire Scorpion range was designated Class A in European tyre labeling for wet grip[2], while also providing acoustic comfort (Classes A/B)[3] and high mileage performance. In addition, it is Class B for rolling resistance[4]. In addition, the tyre delivers consistent performance in both dry and wet conditions over the range of summer temperatures.

DEVELOPINGTHE NEW SCORPION, PIRELLI’S SPECIALIZED SUV TYRE

Developing a product specifically for the SUV segment requires dedicated design to meet the  characteristics of these vehicles, such as greater weight and higher centre of gravity. The improvements delivered by the new Scorpion are chiefly the result of an integrated design approach, leveraging a new tread compound that ensures stable performance in different conditions, improved wet grip and excellent mileage, in line with the characteristics of today’s Sport Utility Vehicles. The reinforced structure and updated compound also ensure uniform wear, making the tyre ideal for heavier vehicles. The profile and tread pattern with its new groove geometry, optimised for SUVs, improve not only handling but also acoustic comfort, achieving Class A/B in European noise labeling.

NEW VIRTUAL DEVELOPMENT METHODS

For the development of the new Scorpion, Pirelli’s R&D team designed and tested the product using virtual development processes. In particular, thanks to mileage-prediction tools developed by Pirelli engineers in Milan, more than 20 technological variants—combining different compounds and tread patterns—were evaluated entirely in a virtual environment to find the best way to increase mileage. Virtual development, supported by driving simulators, also made it possible to optimise handling, dry performance and driving pleasure. Subsequent physical testing confirmed the improvements compared with the previous generation.

THIRD GENERATION SCORPION

The new Scorpion has been developed specifically for the SUV segment using dedicated technical solutions, including a reinforced carcass, wider central tread blocks and an optimised profile to promote uniform pressure distribution and reduce deformation in the shoulder area.
The product also uses some of the innovative materials that contributed to the success of the latest generation of Cinturato, Pirelli’s summer tyre for saloons and CUVs, which topped the Tyre Reviews comparative test for premium summer products at its debut, demonstrating an excellent balance between safety and efficiency while averting typical trade-offs such as between durability and rolling resistance.
Already available in 16 sizes from 18 to 22 inches, the new Scorpion also features technologies such as Elect, which can increase the range of electric[5] and plug-in hybrid vehicles by up to 10%, and adopts solutions specifically designed for the characteristics of these powertrains. Developed in collaboration with leading car makers, and building on the Scorpion summer range that boasts 300 homologations, the new generation already has more than 40 homologations currently under development.

Milan, 13 January 2026 – 2025 was a record year for Pirelli innovation, with many awards won in tests and the recognition for Cyber™ Tyre technology, all granted by independent bodies and specialized magazines.

The new tyres from the P Zero, Cinturato, and Scorpion families, in fact, notched up 27 podiums over the year, including 15 first places out of 34 comparative tests. In particular, the products launched in 2025 for the global market, the P Zero and Cinturato, both reached the top of the podium twice. The Cinturato All Season SF3 also continues its cycle of positive results, with 11 victories last year. Furthermore, Pirelli Cyber™ Tyre technology received four recognitions during the year in different countries, confirming the key role of this technology in the mobility revolution towards a connected and increasingly safe future.

TYRES FOR THE GLOBAL MARKET

Among the products introduced in 2025, the new P Zero – the sports tyre par excellence – now in its fifth generation, achieved two victories: it was named best ultra-high performance summer tyre by Tyre Reviews and took first place in tests conducted by the British magazine Auto Express, confirming the performance and safety characteristics announced at launch. The new Cinturato, the summer tyre dedicated to premium vehicles ranging from sedans to CSUVs(?), also recorded two victories – including one from Tyre Reviews – in addition to two podium finishes, demonstrating a perfect balance between safety and efficiency.

As for winter products, the P Zero Winter 2 – Pirelli’s solution for the sportiest cars even during the cold season – achieved, in addition to a podium finish, victory in the tests conducted by the historic Swedish magazine Teknikens Värld, in the category of non-studded winter tyres for Central European roads.

These tyres are also among those which feature the most specialties – Pirelli technologies that help increase benefits for motorists – ranging from puncture-resistant technologies (Runflat and RunForward) to those designed to reduce rolling noise inside the cabin (Pirelli Noise Cancelling System).

PRODUCTS FOR THE EUROPEAN MARKET

In both the market and magazine test spotlight, the all-season segment continues to stand out. In 2025, the Pirelli Cinturato All Season SF3 dominated: the latest update of the product for medium-sized and compact cars achieved eleven victories and three podium finishes in comparative tests. “It impressed with its ability to position itself as the right middle ground and to dominate all disciplines in terms of safety,” Autobild Sportscars stated when announcing the victory, while according to Tyre Reviews, “There is not much this tyre cannot do.” The Scorpion All Season SF3 – the product that extends the technical features of the Cinturato All Season SF3 to meet the needs of SUVs, launched in the last quarter of the year – has already notched up   victories. The results obtained by the All Season SF3 range earned Pirelli the titles of All Season Champion 2025 and Top Manufacturer of All Season Tyres, awarded respectively by Germany’s automobile club Automobilclub von Deutschland (AvD) and by the prestigious German magazine AutoBild.

FOUR RECOGNITIONS FOR PIRELLI CYBER™ TYRE

Pirelli Cyber™ Tyre technology – the world’s first system, hardware and software, capable of collecting data from sensors in the tires and processing them through proprietary algorithms, communicating in real time with vehicle electronics – received four international awards over the year. In the USA, it was recognized as the most innovative technology in the tire sector at the Autotech Breakthrough Awards; in France, at the eighth edition of the Automobile Awards, it won first prize in the safety category; from the independent AutoBest jury, representing 32 European countries, it received the “SafetyBest Award”; finally, the US market analysis company Frost & Sullivan named Pirelli “Company of the Year” for the innovative scope of Cyber™ Tyre, a technology that “highlights how digital systems are able to redefine even the traditional components of the automotive sector,” according to the motivations.

P Zero R: performance and versatility

The P Zero R meets the needs of the sportiest cars and is an ideal choice for daily driving. The compound – specifically developed for the new Porsche GT3 – has been created to offer high performance even in everyday situations. This is thanks to its excellent grip on different surfaces, especially in the wet. The P Zero R benefits from a wide working temperature range, guaranteeing top performance even in suboptimal conditions. The tyre structure is different on the front and rear wheels to ensure ideal balance: delivering greater sensitivity and steering precision for the front tyres, allied with strength and control on the rear axle – also to manage the high loadings.

P Zero Trofeo RS: the best on track, now also for the Porsche 911 GT3

At the top of the P Zero range, the Trofeo RS is designed for those looking for maximum performance on track. Its combination of extreme performance and consistency are key to its many strengths. Even in the most demanding conditions, it consistently maintains grip and driving precision over long periods of time, allowing the driver to fully exploit the potential of the car.

Having been asked to develop a bespoke P Zero Trofeo RS for the Porsche 911 GT3 RS by the manufacturer, Pirelli’s know-how has now been transferred to the new tyre dedicated to the latest Porsche 911 GT3.

Even though it is a highly specialised product, tailor-made versions of the P Zero Trofeo RS have been developed for a number of very different models: from the Porsche GT3 RS – the most extreme model in the roadgoing range – to the Porsche Taycan Turbo GT, a high-performance electric car.

Pirelli’s Perfect Fit: tailor-made tyres

The P Zero R and P Zero Trofeo RS tyres developed specifically for the Porsche 911 GT3 follow Pirelli’s Perfect Fit strategy, which is based on the creation of tailor-made tyres for each model. In fact, they feature the “N” marking on the sidewall, which testifies to their specific development for the 911 GT3. Thanks to the use of advanced virtualisation techniques at the R&D centres in Milan and Breuberg, there was a 30% reduction in both the fitments' development time and use of physical prototypes.

Extreme performance meets tyre sustainability: the three bespoke tyres developed for McLaren’s latest supercar are made with over 50% bio-based and recycled materials¹, as verified by a third party according to ISO 14021.

Milan, 4 November 2025 – Pirelli has equipped the new McLaren W1 supercar with three bespoke tyre fitments made from more than 50% bio-based and recycled materials: a figure certified by independent body Bureau Veritas. These new tyres – P Zero R, P Zero Trofeo RS, and P Zero Winter 2 – have been specially developed by Pirelli in collaboration with McLaren and are offered in an exclusive specification for the new model, for which Pirelli is the sole tyre supplier.

This latest project involved close cooperation between the Research & Development (R&D) teams at Pirelli and McLaren, from the earliest stages of development and testing. Initially working in a virtual environment – supported by state-of-the-art driving simulation technology – the engineers progressed to physical tests to assess tyre performance in differing weather and surface conditions. Locations included the Nardò circuit in southern Italy, Idiada track in Spain, and Pirelli’s Sottozero Centre in Sweden - all ideal venues for exploiting the extreme high-performance of the W1.

The new tyres developed for the McLaren W1 cover every aspect of use for the flagship supercar which features a hybrid powertrain capable of delivering up to 1,275PS and 1,340Nm through the rear wheels alone. Capable of astonishing acceleration of 0-300km/h in less than 12.7 seconds and a maximum speed electronically limited to 350km/h, it also has a Race mode that generates up to 1,000kg of downforce, demanding the very best in tyre technology. The P Zero R, the first developed for a McLaren, is designed for daily driving; the P Zero Trofeo RS is a track-biased tyre that delivers consistently high performance, while colder seasons are handled by the P Zero Winter 2. All three tyres for the W1 will be produced at Pirelli’s plant in Settimo Torinese, Italy.

The bespoke P Zero tyres are the very first supercar tyres made with over 50% bio-based and recycled materials. This milestone is part of Pirelli’s industrial plan, which aims to launch the first tyres containing 80% of these materials by 2030. A key step on this journey was the launch of the P Zero E in 2023: the first high-performance tyre on the market to contain more than 55% bio-based and recycled materials^[1] and feature a triple “A” certification on the European tyre label.

This tyre also introduced the logo that now identifies all Pirelli products containing at least 50% sustainable materials.

In fact, in the 2025 comparative tests conducted by AvD, the two flagship products of Pirelli’s All Season SF3 range — the Cinturato All Season SF3 and the Scorpion All Season SF3 — obtained the highest recognition in their respective categories, standing out for their balanced performance, safety in all the conditions examined and comfort. In particular, the Cinturato All Season SF3 excelled in the braking tests on dry and wet surfaces, handling and aquaplaning resistance, while the Scorpion All Season SF3 established itself as the benchmark for SUVs, excelling in traction and safety on all surfaces. The comparative tests revealed that Pirelli’s All Season tyres do compromise  between different performances, but instead provide safety all year round on various road surfaces.

In the evaluation of the best all-season tyres, AutoBild magazine described the Cinturato All Season SF3 as “versatile and reliable”. The same AutoBild had recently awarded this Pirelli product first place overall in the 2025 super-comparison of 30 all season tyres purchased on the market, with the overall judgment of “Exemplary”, thanks to balanced performances in all conditions tested: excellent safety on wet roads, great resistance to aquaplaning, brilliant performance on dry surfaces, and good results on snow and in durability.

The AutoBild tests showed how the Pirelli Cinturato All Season SF3 did not have any weak points in the different testing conditions, always offering great safety and easily earning the title of best all-season manufacturer of the year. In the SUV-specific tests, the Scorpion All Season SF3 — which shares its development platform with the Cinturato — obtained the highest scores for dry and wet braking, handling and quietness.

These recognitions add to the successes obtained in previous years, confirming the technical superiority of the Pirelli Cinturato and Scorpion All Season SF3 ranges. The product development is based on the most advanced virtual modelling techniques of Pirelli’s R&D, with new-generation compounds and adaptive tread designs with 3D sipes that guarantee grip and safety even when the tyre is worn.

These innovations have made it possible to simultaneously raise the different performances required of an all-season tyres: in fact, the Cinturato All Season SF3 has achieved class A on the European label for wet braking and the TÜV SÜD Performance Mark quality certification, as well as being awarded by Dekra for cumulative braking performance (the sum of performances on dry, wet and snow). The range is available in sizes from 15 to 20 inches. Developed as an evolution of the Cinturato for SUVs, the Scorpion All Season SF3 also boasts class A on the European Label for Wet Grip, showing excellent results in cumulative braking in the Dekra tests. The range offers sizes from 17 to 21 inches. Both Cinturato and Scorpion All Season SF3 also offer dedicated versions for electric and plug-in hybrid vehicles, equipped with technologies such as Elect and the Pirelli Noise Cancelling System for acoustic comfort. A technological collaboration that sees Pirelli and Porsche also involved in further joint development projects for classic models

This breadth of offering makes Pirelli the go-to supplier for Porsche collectors, thanks in part to the Collezione range for numerous other classic Porsche models, such as the 356, 914, 928 and 944. These tyres are designed specifically for the cars they equip, preserving the original aesthetics while using modern materials and technologies, to offer maximum safety and compliance with currently applicable regulations.

PIRELLI COLLEZIONE: CLASSIC TYRES ON THE OUTSIDE, MODERN ON THE INSIDE

As a testament to the joint development between the Pirelli and Porsche Reasearch and Development departments, the tyres bear the "N" marking on the sidewall: the symbol applied on all tyres that have been specifically approved and tested by Porsche. The Collezione range aims to preserve the historic automotive heritage, combining technical innovation with aesthetic fidelity. This is maintained thanks to the contribution of the Pirelli Foundation, which preserves, among other documents, the designs and specificities of historic tyres in an archive of approximately 4 linear kilometers of materials on Pirelli's history, from 1872 to the present day.

FROM THE CINTURATO CN36 TO THE P ZERO, THE EVOLUTION OF THE 911

The history of the Porsche 911 began at the 1963 International Motor Show Germany (IAA) in Frankfurt, where it was introduced as the "Porsche 901," the successor to the Porsche 356. A few years later, the production versions were equipped with the Cinturato CN36, the first Pirelli sports car tyre to use steel belts. Ten years after its debut and following the release of numerous versions, the Porsche 911 evolved into the G model, which gave rise to the 911 Turbo. This model was equipped with the Cinturato P7, a tyre originally developed for rally races and later a successful product in the road range. It was the first ultra-low-profile tyre to be introduced to the market. Its main feature was its lower sidewall relative to the tread width with a previously unseen aspect ratio, which significantly increased grip when cornering. Subsequent generations adopted the P Zero Rosso, designed to offer the perfect balance between high performance, comfort, and low noise, ensuring safe sporty driving even at high speeds. In 2005, the sixth generation arrived, the Porsche 911 (type 997), for which the P Zero is also available. Further joint development projects are also underway to develop new tyres for classic Porsche models.

Performance takes a step forward thanks to virtual development and advanced testing methodologies

Milan, 7 October 2025 – Pirelli launches the Cinturato Winter 3, a high-performance winter tyre designed for sedans and crossovers, capable of offering safety and control in winter conditions. Starting with snow performance, tested by independent bodies Dekra[1] and TÜV[2], which also verified the excellent wet performance. The new product, in fact, ranked first on snow for braking, traction, and handling, receiving the TÜV Premium Quality Mark. On wet surfaces, it tops the charts for aquaplaning resistance and handling, with an A-B classification on the European label for wet grip across the entire range[3]. Acoustic comfort is also guaranteed, with low rolling noise emissions, as confirmed by the European label[4], while the tread pattern ensures lasting performance and higher mileage[5] compared to the previous generation.

DEVELOPMENT OF THE CINTURATO WINTER 3

The versatility of the new tyre is the result of a development process that achieved the goal of reconciling historically opposing characteristics, thanks to Virtual Development techniques, such as mileage and aquaplaning resistance, both improved compared to earlier products. Virtual development not only allowed a significant reduction in the use of physical prototypes through increasingly sophisticated simulation of  the variables, but also produced more precise results while minimizing development times.

The main update concerned the tread pattern: the central zig-zag channel improves water evacuation, the optimised sipes and Snow Keeper Teeth on the blocks trap snow for better snow-on-snow grip, without penalizing wet performance.

The compound was developed thanks to experience gained with the P Zero Winter 2, an ultra-high performance winter tyre, winner of several comparative tests. The Dual-Core Polymer used, features a dual-mode structure that increases grip in different conditions: high mobility at low temperatures provides snow adhesion without compromising grip on wet or dry surfaces. In addition, excellent wear resistance further extends the working range of the tyre.

Virtualization techniques were also applied to material development, thanks to the Virtual Compounder: a tool, developed by Pirelli and based on generative AI, to accelerate the identification of the best material combinations for new compounds, allowing more precise results and maximizing process efficiency.

TESTED ALSO IN SUMMER, INDOOR

While the use of virtual methods has been expanded, physical testing activities have also evolved with new methods and facilities to experiment at different times of the year, obtaining more accurate results faster. In addition to the testing laboratories in Bicocca, a key role in this phase was played by the Pirelli Sottozero Centre, a centre of excellence in Swedish Lapland, where the R&D department tests tyres on different surfaces, from snow to ice, all year round. Inaugurated in 2017, the facility extends over 125 hectares with 19 tracks on snow, ice, wet, and dry surfaces. The Cinturato Winter 3 was the first product to benefit from the most recent Indoor facility, recently inaugurated in the proving ground area, which allows replication of winter temperatures, conditions, and surfaces even in summer. To ensure maximum effectiveness on specific vehicles, between physical and virtual tests, the tyre was tested on over 10 of the most representative car models on the market.

THE CINTURATO WINTER 3 RANGE AND PIRELLI WINTER OFFERING

Already available on the replacement market with over 35 products, the Cinturato Winter 3 range covers sizes from 16 to 20 inches and also features technologies such as Elect, which allows an increase of up to 10% in the range of electric[6] and plug-in hybrid cars and adopts solutions specifically designed for the characteristics of these powertrains. The Pirelli Noise Cancelling System (PNCS) is also available, reducing rolling noise in the cabin thanks to a special sound-absorbing material applied inside the tyre.

The Cinturato Winter 3 is part of Pirelli’s winter range, alongside the latest novelties, such as the P Zero Winter 2 for the highest-performing cars and the Scorpion Winter 2 for high-performance SUVs. A range that responds with different products to the growing demand for specialized winter tyres in sizes from 18 inches, typical of higher level segments.

The Cinturato All Season SF3 also claimed the top spot in comparisons conducted by Tyre Reviews, “The Best All-Season Tyres for 2025/26”. This is the second consecutive victory in the independent magazine’s tests. Tyre Reviews examined 9 tyres in size 205/45 R17, testing them in all conditions through 15 different tests from dry to snow, using two seasonal references (one summer and one winter). “There is not much this tyre cannot do,” writes Tyre Reviews: the Cinturato All Season SF3 proved to be the best in dry braking and recorded the fastest lap on dry roads, also ranking first in handling. On wet roads, it excelled in both aquaplaning tests, straight-line and cornering, with excellent results also in wet braking and lap time, demonstrating very good wet handling. Traction on snow was excellent and braking effective, with a standing-out number one in snow handling. Finally, its noise levels remained low.

VICTORIES FOR THE CINTURATO ALL SEASON SF3 AND PIRELLI ALL-SEASON RANGE

The Pirelli Cinturato All Season SF3, the most recent all-season product dedicated to medium and compact cars, designed especially for mainly city driving, is available in various sizes from 15" to 20". It has won several independent comparative tests and has recently obtained an excellent ranking in tests by Germany’s ADAC (Allgemeiner Deutscher Automobil-Club, the largest automobile club in Europe).  The product development involved virtual modelling techniques at the Pirelli R&D centre, a choice that allowed all variables such as compounds, tread pattern, and physical stress distribution on the tyre to be studied simultaneously. The compound includes new polymers and optimized moulding for uniformity and durability, reducing rolling resistance and noise (class A B on the European label). The directional tread pattern features wider grooves and adaptive 3D sipes: with wear, they change from linear to zigzag, improving snow grip even with a worn tread. The tyre has also achieved class A for wet braking on the European label and has received the TÜV SÜD Performance Mark quality certification.

Pirelli has recently extended the all-season range with the new Scorpion All Season SF3, specifically designed for SUVs. The new product transfers the technical qualities of the award-winning Cinturato All Season SF3 to the needs of “high-riding” vehicles and is already available in sizes from 17 to 21 inches. As with the rest of the Pirelli range, the new Scorpion All Season SF3 also features Elect technology, a package of solutions developed to enhance the performance of electric and plug-in vehicles, identified by the specific marking on the tyre sidewall.

Milan, 11 September 2025 – Pirelli and Aston Martin have agreed to collaborate on the integration of Pirelli’s exclusive Cyber Tyre technology into the British ultra-luxury performance brand’s future vehicles. Cyber Tyre is the first system in the world, able to collect data and information from sensors located directly in the tyres themselves, process that data with Pirelli’s proprietary software and algorithms and, in real time, communicate with the vehicle’s electronics to create new functionalities integrated within the driving and control systems. Cyber Tyre, thanks to the cooperation with Bosch Engineering, will be fully integrated within the electronic architecture that governs the vehicle’s dynamics in future Aston Martin models.

Pirelli Cyber Tyre technology enables the car to gather crucial information from the tyres via sensors positioned in the inner part of the tread. This information, processed with Pirelli’s exclusive algorithms, is transmitted to an electronic control unit which optimises the vehicle’s dynamics. This way the main electronic dynamic driving systems performance - including ESP, ABS and traction control - are enhanced by a comprehensive set of tyre data not previously available. Both Aston Martin and Pirelli are dedicated to creating incredible ultra-luxury performance sports cars and the addition of Pirelli’s Cyber Tyre system is a further technology step enabling Aston Martin’s class leading performance.

This year, the Compasso d’Oro Award was inspired by the Expo theme – Designing Future Society for our Lives – with Pirelli awarded in one of the key areas: Connecting Lives. This is about connecting people through the development of technologically advanced products featuring reduced environmental impact, such as the P Zero E: the first tyre in the world designed with an unprecedented percentage of natural and recycled materials, especially in the high-performance segment for which it is intended. As a perfect synthesis of industrial design, sustainable innovation, and technology, this tyre represented a revolutionary turning point for the industry.

The Pirelli P Zero E was launched in 2023 as the first Ultra High Performance tyre in the world with more than 55% bio-based and recycled materials, maintaining performance and safety even in challenging conditions such as wet asphalt. Performance, efficiency, and comfort are highlighted by a triple “Class A” score for wet grip, rolling resistance, and noise on the European tyre label. This tyre is designed to maximise electric and plug-in hybrid vehicle efficiency (with the capability of increasing mileage by up to 10% thanks to Elect technology[1]) and is equipped as standard with Pirelli’s most advanced proprietary technologies including RunForward, which allows driving to continue even after a puncture. PIRELLI AND THE COMPASSO D’ORO

Pirelli’s history has intertwined several times with that of the ADI Compasso d’Oro Award, thanks to advertising campaigns from great names in graphic design, as well as iconic industrial design products. THE P ZERO E AT EXPO 2025 OSAKA

Together with this year’s other winners, the P Zero E will be featured as part of an exhibition in the Italian Pavilion, before entering the permanent collection of the ADI Design Museum in Milan. In line with the Expo theme – “Designing Future Society for Our Lives” – the P Zero E embodies a modern vision of mobility, connecting people and positioning itself as a benchmark for sustainability and circularity thanks to the use of recovered materials such as lignin. This tyre was developed with data-driven and artificial intelligence-based technologies, involving all major Pirelli R&D centres worldwide as well as numerous collaborations with universities, specialised centres and suppliers.

THE AUTO EXPRESS TEST

In the wet, an area to which the magazine paid particular attention, the new P Zero stood out thanks to its efficiency and safety, claiming the top result when it came to roadholding and also scoring excellent points for braking and aquaplaning resistance. The tyre also delivered excellent performance in the dry, with outstanding results both in terms of handling and braking. Finally, in the acoustic comfort tests – which measured perceived noise by drivers and passengers on both rough and smooth surfaces – the new P Zero recorded very low levels of rolling noise. The magazine wrote: “Pirelli’s latest P Zero scored three first places, more than any other tyre, but what made it stand out was that two of these top marks were in wet and dry handling, underlining its mastery of all conditions.”

This result was made possible thanks to innovative development methods: the leap in quality with this new generation comes also thanks to the use of artificial intelligence systems and proprietary algorithms created by Pirelli, which helped the R&D team to identify cutting-edge solutions and reach an unprecedented level of understanding of tyre dynamics. Tests carried out on virtual prototypes were another essential part of the process, allowing better results in less time while reducing the amount of physical prototypes needed.

THE KEY CHARACTERISTICS OF THE NEW P ZERO

The key strengths of the new P Zero, confirmed once more in the Auto Express comparative test are performance and safety, along with handling that has been further improved. The research work concentrated on the tyre structure and tread pattern design, which has been additionally enhanced thanks to changes to the grooves and contact patch, benefitting cornering grip. A more even distribution of pressure makes braking more efficient and reduces wear, guaranteeing consistent performance throughout the life of the tyre.

For 40 years, Pirelli P Zero has been the preferred choice of premium and prestige carmakers as well as a champion of homologations and a benchmark for performance and safety; not to mention the place where Pirelli’s landmark technologies – such as Elect in 2019 and Cyber Tyre in 2021 – make their debuts.

The cars in the parade tackled the famed Goodwood Hillclimb, the centrepiece of the Festival of Speed, and were selected to showcase the defining traits of the Pirelli P Zero. Leading the lineup was the Ferrari F40, originally fitted with the first-generation P Zero on its 1987 debut. Next up was the Lancia Delta S4 Stradale, which had been equipped with a “zero” version of the iconic tyre two years earlier, featuring a unique tread pattern design that blended slick, intermediate, and wet profiles, as used in motorsport. Then there was the Lamborghini Urus SE, the very first model homologated with the new fifth-generation P Zero. Representing the new era of electric hypercars was the Lotus Evija, once the most powerful production car ever launched, equipped with P Zero Trofeo R tyres marked with “Elect”: Pirelli’s signature for tyres that are specifically engineered for BEVs and PHEVs. The McLaren Artura and Pagani Utopia Roadster were the first cars equipped with Pirelli’s Cyber Tyre system as standard. This is the only hardware and software solution capable of collecting real-time data from sensors inside the tyres, which is processed via proprietary algorithms and communicated to the car’s own electronic systems; enabling previously unimaginable levels of functionalities. The Porsche 911 Carrera 4 GTS, fitted with P Zero R tyres, embodied the balance between performance, safety, and versatility that defines the P Zero family. At the same time, the Aston Martin Vanquish Volante - the V12 convertible grand tourer - represented the pure joy of driving. The future of mobility was symbolised by the BMW Vision Driving Experience: a concept car previewing the brand’s next-generation models. Closing the 10,000-horsepower parade was a Formula 1 car fitted with 18-inch P Zero tyres, linking road and track to highlight the famed motorsport heritage from which the P Zero was born, and from which it still continues to transfer technology today.

Pirelli P Zero’s innovation also extends to reducing environmental impact: during the Festival of Speed, Pirelli and JLR – Jaguar Land Rover unveiled the world’s first global-market production tyre made from over 70% bio-based and recycled materials. The tyre, also featuring FSC™-certified natural rubber, is a specifically developed P Zero and will be initially available on selected 22” wheel options on Range Rover.  

PIRELLI P ZERO FAMILY

Today, P Zero is a brand that inextricably links the race track to the road, representing an entire family of products chosen by premium and prestige car manufacturers worldwide. In the prestige segment, Pirelli P Zero tyres equip over 50% of the models available on the market. MATERIALS INNOVATION

The development of the new P Zero put a significant challenge for Pirelli’s Research & Development department: combining Ultra-High Performance (UHP) with a high content of bio-based and recycled materials, which include:

·         Recycled steel, partially sourced from the melting of scrap metal instead of virgin raw materials, while maintaining the mechanical properties of virgin steel.

·         Rice husk-derived silica, obtained from rice processing waste, used in tread compounds to ensure high performance in the wet.

·         Circular carbon black, produced through pyrolysis oil obtained from end-of-life tyres.

·         Bio-circular polymers, manufactured from monomers derived from used cooking oil or pyrolysis oil, replacing fossil-based polymers.

·         Bio-resins, plant-based plasticisers that help optimise the balance between dry and wet performance.

P ZERO AND INNOVATION

P Zero is the product line where Pirelli debuts its latest technologies: this renowned accent on innovation makes Pirelli the preferred choice of premium and prestige car manufacturers worldwide.

Back in 2021, Pirelli produced the very first tyre made with FSC™-certified natural rubber. The collaboration with JLR represents a new initiative to increase the share of recycled and bio-based materials in tyres, marking another step forward in the journey toward sustainability. Moreover, this product will also serve as a testing lab for materials innovation, as the percentage of components with low environmental impact is set to increase over time.

SAFETY, COMFORT, AND LONG-LASTING PERFORMANCE

Safety and versatility in different weather conditions are the core features of this product, confirmed by independent Dekra tests1, where the Pirelli tyre achieved excellent results in cumulative braking1. Already from launch, the entire product line features an "A" rating on the European label for wet grip. Its snow performance is certified by the 3PMSF marking, which identifies tyres that have passed stringent tests in winter conditions. The Scorpion All Season SF3 also stands out for driving comfort, offering a smooth and pleasant experience. The entire range is rated "B" for external noise on the EU label and is ranked in classes A and B for rolling resistance: ensuring long-lasting performance and reduced emissions. The Pirelli Scorpion All Season SF3 inherits key features that made the Cinturato All Season SF3 a winner in key comparative tests, underlining its best in class reputation.

OPTIMISED FOR SUV DYNAMICS

To support the handling and weight of SUVs, specific adaptations and technological solutions were introduced. These include reinforced tread blocks with larger dimensions and a progressive entry geometry that gradually increases the contact patch between the tread block and the road. This avoids sudden pressure peaks and allows a smoother interaction with the asphalt, reducing vibrations and road noise. Additionally, this design improves driving comfort, stability, and grip – especially in heavier vehicles.

ADAPTIVE TREAD STRUCTURE

Effective year-round performance is supported by a special tread design featuring an adaptive structure, carried over from the Cinturato All Season SF3. It includes 3D sipes that change shape from straight lines to a zigzag pattern as the tyres wear down, increasing the surface area capable of gripping snow even as tread depth decreases. The adaptive design also affects the movement of the sipes. Thanks to their ability to close and compact under high contact stress, the tread transforms from a winter-like siped pattern to a more summer-like profile. This enables effective performance on dry surfaces and during braking.

MATERIAL INNOVATION

The adaptive behaviour of the tread is made possible by material innovation. To balance these wider grooves, the Scorpion All Season SF3 compound is formulated for stiffness, stability, and response at high temperatures. Winter grip is enhanced through the introduction of innovative materials, including a new mix of polymers with specific microstructures that ensure high mobility at low temperatures. New natural-origin resins improve grip on cold surfaces, while liquid polymers enhance snow performance without compromising wet traction.

To identify the optimal compound, Pirelli used its AI-based Virtual Compounder tool, which assists engineers in selecting the best material mix from thousands of combinations. 3D modelling also played a crucial role, allowing parallel design of the compound and tread pattern. This approach optimised their interaction, helping achieve the desired performance targets.

AVAILABLE RANGE

With the new Scorpion All Season SF3, Pirelli expands its "all-season" family for year-round use; meeting the growing demand from motorists interested in this type of tyre. Available in sizes from 17 to 21 inches, the tyre is distinguished by the Elect marking, denoting models equipped with technology solutions tailored for BEVs and PHEVs. It is also offered with Pirelli Noise Cancelling System (PNCS), which reduces tyre rolling noise thanks to a special sound-absorbing material inside the tyre. For medium and compact cars, the Cinturato All Season SF3 remains available, which has also achieved excellent results in Dekra cumulative braking[1] tests and has been awarded the TÜV SÜD Performance Mark for high performance in varied driving conditions[2]. This product covers sizes from 15 to 20 inches and, in addition to Elect technology, selected sizes also feature Seal Inside Technology, which allows continued driving without air loss even after a puncture – covering nearly 85% of possible accidental causes.

A VIRTUAL DEVELOPMENT PROCESS

For tyre development on the Porsche 911 GTS, Pirelli’s research and development team utilized advanced technologies at the Virtual Development Center (VDC) in Breuberg, Germany. This facility enables virtual tyre design and testing, offering multiple advantages: greater precision than traditional methods thanks to a driving simulator, a 30% reduction in development time, and a 30% decrease in the number of physical prototypes produced. The VDC has allowed Pirelli to optimize every aspect of the new tyres, ensuring they perfectly match the characteristics of the Porsche 911 and the needs of its drivers.

This joint development, with the P Zero R as the primary fitment for the Porsche 911 GTS, represents the latest milestone in the long-standing collaboration between Pirelli and Porsche. Pirelli has achieved 338 homologations for all Porsche models, including SUVs, sedans, and sports cars, spanning internal combustion (ICE), hybrid, and electric (BEV) powertrains. Notable highlights include the P Zero Trofeo RS, developed for the 911 GT3 RS and acclaimed by the specialized press as the best high-performance fitment for this vehicle, and the Pirelli Scorpion All Terrain Plus, designed for the 911 Dakar, enabling confident performance on both sand and track.

The tests were carried out in real-world conditions on both dry and wet surfaces. Among all the candidates, the P Zero stood out for its grip in dry and wet conditions, as well as aquaplaning resistance, comfort, and low noise levels. Milan, March 31, 2025 – Pirelli has launched the fifth generation of its iconic P Zero: the flagship model of a tyre family that has been synonymous with performance and safety since 1985. The P Zero was the first to establish the Ultra-High Performance (UHP) tyre market, continuously evolving over the years to anticipate the demands of the premium and prestige automotive segments.

The P Zero brand, originally born out of Pirelli’s long expertise in motorsport, has expanded into a comprehensive family of tyres that meets the diverse needs of the high-end market.

FEATURES OF THE NEW P ZERO

The breakthroughs that characterise the new P Zero were achieved thanks to advanced development technologies. By combining artificial intelligence systems with algorithms designed by Pirelli, the company’s research and development engineers created groundbreaking solutions to achieve an unprecedented understanding of tyre performance dynamics. Virtual prototype testing also played a key role in this process, reducing development time and optimizing resources.

The P Zero has two key strengths – excellence in performance and safety – thanks to improved handling, highlighted by track tests on both dry and wet surfaces, and reduced braking distances. From its launch, the new tyre has been rated “A” on the European wet grip label^[1]. THE NEW P ZERO LINE-UP

The fifth-generation P Zero tyre comes in sizes from 18 to 23 inches, with over 50 products already available. These sit alongside the other tyres from the P Zero family to provide complete coverage for the premium and prestige market across all applications. Most of the new line-up features Pirelli’s specialities, such as Elect: a technology package for electric and plug-in hybrid vehicles that increases range by up to 10% thanks to reduced rolling resistance; adopting solutions specifically designed to handle high torque and reduce noise.

On top of that, Pirelli’s engineers are already working to equip dozens of soon-to-be released cars, with specific versions already homologated for models such as the Lamborghini Urus SE, Audi A5, BMW M5 and M5 Touring, Mercedes GLE and GLS, Lucid Gravity, Polestar 4, Nio ET9, and Xiaomi SU7.

Over the past 40 years, more than 3,000 bespoke versions of the P Zero have been created for cars such as the Ferrari F40, Lamborghini Aventador, McLaren P1, every Pagani, Aston Martin V12 Vantage, and Porsche 911, as well as dozens of other models from brands including Audi, BMW, Jaguar Land Rover, and Mercedes.

The P Zero family has always been a vital development laboratory for Pirelli. The tests were carried out on a selection of premium tyres in 225/50 R17 size, taking place under real-world dry and wet conditions. The Cinturato ranked first among the seven tyres tested, delivering outstanding performance across all categories (dry and wet grip, aquaplaning, comfort, noise, and rolling resistance) to demonstrate its perfect balance between safety and efficiency.

On dry roads, the Cinturato stood out for its excellent stability, balance, and grip. Additionally, it recorded the fastest lap time and best braking performance, with a significant margin over its competitors.

On wet surfaces, the Pirelli tyre ensured perfect balance and precise handling, positioning itself among the best in the category. It also achieved the top result in the curved aquaplaning test, registering the highest grip among all the tyres tested.

THE SECRETS OF THE NEW CINTURATO

The breakthroughs in this new product are primarily due to innovative compounds made from materials researched and patented by Pirelli. These overcome the traditional trade-offs in tyre development, balancing opposing needs such as braking grip, mileage durability, and rolling resistance. This performance balance has been achieved mainly through the tread composition, which leverages the synergy between a unique star-shaped polymer and a special resin blend.

Further benefits come from a next-generation silica, called “SmartNet Silica”. Additionally, the new summer tyre will be available with Pirelli’s exclusive technologies, including Elect, the dedicated package for electric and plug-in hybrid vehicles.

A BRIEF HISTORY OF THE CINTURATO

The Cinturato, the longest-running brand in Pirelli’s range, was introduced in the 1950s for Formula 1 single-seaters and rally cars, and was the company’s first radial tyre. Its name comes from the radial carcass structure, reinforced with textile or metal bands to enhance strength and stability. Over the decades, it has evolved to offer specialised variants for different applications, always prioritising safety and efficiency. These qualities have made the Cinturato Pirelli’s best-selling tyre worldwide and the choice of premium car manufacturers from all over the world - from Europe to the United States and Asia - equipping over 60 vehicle models, with 145 homologations in the past five years alone.

P Zero continues to set the standard for performance road tyres today, a fact often confirmed by comparison tests published by leading automotive titles. P Zero has also always been at the vanguard of Pirelli’s innovations. In 2019, the P Zero first introduced the Elect package for electric and plug-in hybrid vehicles, which went on to become an industry benchmark. In 2023, Pirelli launched the P Zero E, the first Ultra High-Performance (UHP) tyre with at least 55% bio-based or recycled materials, earning a coveted “triple A” rating on the European tyre label. In motorsport, where it originated, P Zero is synonymous with the pinnacle of performance: from Formula 1 to all sorts of other racing categories.

THE BIRTH OF THE P ZERO

The P Zero name first appeared in 1985, making its debut on the Lancia Delta S4 Stradale. This first road-going P Zero was an evolution of its predecessor, which was used on the legendary Lancia Delta S4 Group B rally car. The Lancia Delta S4 became legendary for its technological advancements and cutting-edge dynamics, with Pirelli being the natural choice to develop a tyre capable of delivering exceptional performance. This single request sparked a veritable revolution in the tyre industry, leading to the creation of the UHP (Ultra High-Performance) category. The name "P Zero" symbolised a new beginning for the Italian tyre firm, combining Pirelli's traditional "P" with the word "Zero."

That revolution occurred alongside transformative changes in the automotive world. In the 1980s, turbocharging and supercharging in sports cars led to unprecedented power outputs and new levels of performance. Without the electronic driving aids we take for granted today, the tyres played a crucial role in providing grip, stability, and safety.

At the time, Pirelli’s flagship performance tyre was the P7: the very first low-profile tyre in history, launched in 1976. The knowledge gained from the P7 – on both roads and race tracks –combined with the vision of Pirelli’s engineer Mario Mezzanotte, paved the way for the P Zero.

The concept was simple yet groundbreaking: to combine the three core attributes of racing tyres into a single tread pattern. The inner shoulder, with grooves like wet-weather tyres, ensured grip on wet roads. The outer shoulder, inspired by slick tyres, provided traction in dry conditions. The central part of the tread adopted some of the hallmarks of intermediate tyres, balancing the two extremes. This winning combination represented a significant innovation, surpassing the traditional boundaries of tyre design.

One motoring journalist famously summed up this innovation after driving a Delta S4 equipped with then-new P Zero tyres: “Let’s hope the traffic police are aware of it,” he joked. “We wouldn’t want the smooth part to get mistaken for a worn tyre!”

Pirelli’s motorsport expertise was instrumental in transferring this advanced technology to road tyres. One particularly remarkable incident showcased the road-going P Zero's wide-ranging capabilities. During the Sanremo Rally, Miki Biasion’s Lancia Delta S4 used standard P Zero tyres (which were not yet on sale to the general public) on the road sections from stage to stage. They performed so well that he decided to keep them on the car for one very damp stage. He went on to win that stage, outperforming competitors on bespoke competition tyres. 

PIRELLI'S PERFECT FIT STRATEGY

In addition to pioneering the UHP segment, P Zero marked the beginning of Pirelli’s Perfect Fit strategy, which tailors tyres to the specific needs of premium and prestige car manufacturers. Today, the P Zero range includes various versions that are made to measure for different vehicles, uses, and seasons. P Zero equips everything from premium sedans to supercars and sporty SUVs, now taking in summer, winter, and all-season applications. After the pioneering tyre that was initially developed in small quantities for the Lancia Delta S4 Stradale, the first-generation P Zero was created for the Ferrari F40 in 1987.

In the coming months, Pirelli is set to unveil the eagerly-anticipated fifth evolution of the famous P Zero: the latest chapter in an ongoing story of technological innovation.

All the tyres in the P Zero range but the novelties introduced recently can boast a lap record around the Ring in the last five years: P Zero Trofeo R on the Audi RS 3 and P Zero on the Audi RS Q8 performance in 2024; P Zero Trofeo RS on the Porsche Taycan Turbo GT in 2023; P Zero Corsa on the Porsche Taycan Turbo S in 2022; P Zero Corsa on the Porsche Cayenne Turbo GT and P Zero Trofeo R on the Audi RS 3 in 2021; and finally P Zero on the Audi RS Q8 in 2019.

The most recent records have come this year with the Audi RS 3, set on the P Zero Trofeo R – a semi-slick tyre specialised in circuit use – and Audi RS Q8 performance equipped with the P Zero: the Ultra High Performance tyre most frequently chosen by manufacturers to equip their top models. The Audi RS 3 record of 7m33.123s lowered the benchmark for compact cars by more than five seconds, while the RS Q8 performance became the fastest production SUV ever to lap the Ring, in a time of 7m36.698s that broke the existing record by more than two seconds. The same models had previously established the class records in 2021 and 2019 respectively, again on P Zero Trofeo R and P Zero tyres.

The Nürburgring Nordschleife, one of the most challenging circuits in the world, serves as a key testing ground for Pirelli, where the company rigorously evaluates its tyres and latest developments on high-performance vehicles, particularly in partnership with German carmakers. A standout example is the P Zero Trofeo RS for the Porsche Taycan Turbo GT: the most sporting tyre in the P Zero range, designed for track use but fully approved for the road. In a specially developed version for the electric supercar, these tyres brought the innovative Pirelli Elect technology package to the track; designed to enhance the performance characteristics of electric and plug-in hybrid vehicles. The results speak for themselves: the Taycan Turbo GT achieved a lap time of 7m07.55s, claiming the title of fastest production electric car at the Nürburgring and surpassing the previous record held by the Taycan Turbo S equipped with Pirelli P Zero Corsa tyres.

The P Zero Corsa, dedicated to the most performance-focussed cars, also helped the Porsche Cayenne Turbo GT secure the previous record in the SUV category. Earlier this year, the very same tyre powered the Hyundai Ioniq 5 N electric crossover to a remarkable lap time of 7m45.59s.

Introducing the Cinturato P7 for the Ferrari GTO

The Ferrari GTO, a pioneering Ferrari supercar, marks its 40th anniversary this year. To celebrate, Ferrari hosted an exclusive tour for GTO owners, driving from the scenic Dolomite Mountains to the home of Ferrari in Maranello. It was during this tour that the newly developed Cinturato P7 from the Pirelli Collezione range made its road debut. Pirelli Collezione is a range of tyres designed for the world’s most iconic classic and modern classic cars, combining vintage looks with contemporary know-how. Originally developed for the 1974 World Rally Championship and then introduced as a road-going tyre in 1976, the Cinturato P7 was the very first ultra-low profile product, offering enhanced cornering grip thanks to its innovative low sidewall height compared to the tread width. For the Ferrari GTO, this tyre returns in its original size (225/50 R16 at the front and 265/50 R16 at the back), blending vintage design with modern materials and technology – as is the case for all the tyres in the Collezione range.

P Zero Tyres for the Ferrari F40, F50, and Enzo

Pirelli's collaboration with Ferrari continued in 1987 with the launch of the Ferrari F40, which continued the tradition of the GTO and was the first production car to feature Pirelli’s iconic P Zero tyres as original equipment that same year. This tyre introduced a revolutionary 17-inch rim size, previously unseen on any road car, as well as cutting-edge technologies that allowed the F40 to exceed 300 kph. Today, the Pirelli Collezione range includes a specific P Zero for the F40, in 245/40 R17 size at the front and 335/35 R17 at the rear.

For its successor – the Ferrari F50 unveiled at the 1995 Geneva Motor Show – Pirelli developed bespoke tyres based on the P Zero Corsa System, in 245/35 R18 size at the front and 335/30 R18 at the rear. This tyre was introduced in the early 2000s as the most sporting in the road-going range, with a specific structure that delivered maximum stability at high speed and while cornering, allowing it to also be used on the track.

Most recently, Pirelli introduced a new P Zero Corsa System tyre for the Ferrari Enzo into the Collezione range: in 245/35 R19 size at the front and 345/35 R19 at the rear. Developed along with Ferrari’s own test drivers, this latest tyre offers the same sporty handling as when the car was new but with improved safety and reliability, thanks to the latest tyre compound technology.

From classic to modern

Pirelli has been a constant presence throughout the evolution of Ferrari’s supercars: from the classic GTO to the most modern models. These includes the 2013 LaFerrari and the 2016 LaFerrari Aperta, both of which were originally equipped with Pirelli’s P Zero Corsa Asimmetrico 2 tyres: an ultra high performance product within the P Zero range. The P Zero name has been synonymous with the most extreme and prestigious cars over the last 40 years, as well as with motorsport. This technology cascade starts with the open-air laboratory that is Formula 1, which transfers onto the road innovations that were originally developed on the race track.

Milan, October 2^nd, 2024 – The Pirelli Cinturato All Season SF3 has obtained the highest score in a comparative test conducted by Tyre Reviews on the main all-season products currently on the market, which was published in September 2024. Tyres were tested in 19-inch size (235/35 R19) on a Volkswagen Golf GTI in a variety of conditions, from dry asphalt to snow, and the Cinturato All Season SF3 stood out as the best among the six tyres tested.

The Tyre Reviews comparative test

To show an in-depth comparison on dry and wet surfaces as well as snow and ice, the test also included summer and winter tyres as a reference. Throughout the tests, the Cinturato All Season SF3 showed excellent performance. On wet surfaces, the Pirelli tyre's turn-in and grip stood out, and it also proved to be the most sporting tyre of the selection. Its superiority in wet braking tests was equally clear, with the Cinturato All Season SF3 outperforming the other brands with a significantly shorter stopping distance: 25.14 metres versus 26.6 metres for the tyre in second place. This highlighted the Pirelli tyre’s capability to ensure optimal safety in wet conditions. The Pirelli Cinturato All Season SF3 also ranked first in all tests related to aquaplaning. In dry weather testing, the Cinturato stood out not only for its braking performance and front axle grip, but also for coming so close to the performance of the summer tyres used as a reference. Traction on ice was also remarkable. In terms of comfort, Pirelli achieved the best overall levels in terms of noise: both in terms of minor and more substantial intrusions. The Cinturato All Season SF3

Introduced in spring 2024, the Cinturato All Season SF3 represents the latest update of Pirelli’s all-season tyre for medium and compact cars, and is the result of a development process from Pirelli’s R&D centre that mostly uses virtual modelling techniques. This choice has made it possible to study all the variables in parallel, such as compounds, tread pattern, and the distribution of physical stresses across the tyre.

STELLA BIANCA CELEBRATES NEARLY 100 YEARS OF HISTORY, HAVING RACED IN FORMULA 1 AND NOW EQUIPPING CARS FROM THE FIRST HALF OF THE LAST CENTURY

4 September 2023 – A total of 10,400 kilometres were driven on Pirelli’s Stella Bianca tyres – a reissue of the 1927 originals – with a car dating back to 1929 on a road trip to the most northerly point in Europe, without the need for a tyre change. The epic journey was undertaken by a 1929 OM 665 Superba on Collezione tyres, a range dedicated to historic collector cars from the 1920s to today. Setting off from Poggibonsi near Siena, the car driven by its owner Gianni Morandi and co-driver Marco Morosinotto, officially started its odyssey from Pirelli’s HQ in Milan. It arrived in Norway’s North Cape following a 15-day trip, returning to Italy after another two weeks. The whole adventure was undertaken using scenic routes, without a single kilometre of motorway. This was a landmark journey for Pirelli’s Stella Bianca tyre, which has exactly the same vintage look as the original, but now uses materials and technologies that ensure greater safety.

FROM TUSCANY TO THE NORTH CAPE AND BACK

The challenge lasted 28 days, covering 10,400 kilometres and approximately 190 hours of driving through some of Europe’s most breathtaking landscapes. En route, the crew navigated a range of challenging terrains that included steep climbs, descents, and above all  constantly changing asphalt conditions, from dry and rough to wet and slippery. Behind the wheel of his OM 665 Superba, capable of reaching a top speed of 120kph and maintaining an average speed of 80-90kph, the Tuscan collector experienced the full spectrum of European climates. Starting in the heat of Tuscany, he journeyed through the cooler regions of Denmark and Norway, where temperatures dropped to as low as 10 degrees centigrade. After reaching the North Cape – the northernmost point of Europe – the intrepid travellers embarked on the return leg, driving through Finland, Sweden, and Germany with a stop at the Driver centre in Frankfurt: a prominent Pirelli tyre dealership.

VISITING THE PIRELLI SOTTOZERO CENTER IN SWEDISH LAPLAND

A highlight of the journey was the stop at Pirelli’s renowned proving ground in Swedish Lapland: the Pirelli Sottozero Center. Here, the OM 665 Superba took to the track, completing several laps in both dry and wet conditions. The Sottozero proving ground covers 120 hectares, with 250.000 square metres dedicated to a varied range of circuits and 1.300 square metres of other infrastructure. It features handling tracks, a variety of different surfaces for objective tests, and slopes of up to 20%. The facility plays a crucial role in the development of Pirelli's winter and all season tyres, making  the most of the region's unique winter conditions. However, the facility can be used all year round as well.

THE HISTORY OF PIRELLI’S STELLA BIANCA TYRES

The Pirelli Stella Bianca was born in 1927 as a cross ply tyre, which at the time was a real innovation in terms of performance and technology. It remained part of the range for decades, becoming Pirelli’s most enduring tread pattern design. The ‘Stella Bianca’ name – which means ‘White Star’ in English – was also a symbol of the golden age of motorsport. This tyre was used at the highest levels of motorised competition, which just like today, was a test bed for road car products. It’s no coincidence that the very first Formula 1 race, which took place at Silverstone in 1950, was won by the legendary Giuseppe Farina driving an Alfa Romeo on Pirelli Stella Bianca tyres.

Milan, 22 August 2024. Pirelli has obtained over 500 homologations for its Elect tyres since their launch in 2019. These tyres include a package of technologies that enhance the specific characteristics of electric and plug-in hybrid cars. This milestone confirms the company's leadership in the EV segment, with seven out of 10 premium and prestige car manufacturers choosing Pirelli tyres developed for BEVs and PHEVs¹.

"Electric cars are very different from traditional internal combustion vehicles, so require specific tyres. The number of homologations obtained from major manufacturers confirms the validity of the path we have chosen to follow, which is to offer technology that can be adapted to vehicles, tyres, and seasons," said Piero Misani, Chief Technical Officer of Pirelli. "The most modern development tools, such as virtualization and artificial intelligence, allow us to design products that are increasingly in line with the technical and performance requirements of EVs."

There are several advantages for drivers who use Pirelli Elect tyres, starting with battery range. Thanks to their low rolling resistance, these tyres can provide up to 50 kilometres of extra range², resulting in savings of up to 150 euros per year on charging costs³. In addition, Pirelli Elect tyres benefit from increased grip, thanks to innovative compounds, to manage the high torque of electric motors, as well as reinforced structures to cope with the weight of EVs. These two elements contribute to reducing tyre wear by up to 20%⁴. Elect technology also offers superior acoustic comfort of up to 20%⁵ inside the car, enhancing the feeling of silence that comes from not having an internal combustion engine.

Pirelli Elect technology, which made its debut with the first-generation P Zero for the Porsche Taycan, is now integrated into an increasing number of Pirelli's main product families. The P Zero family –most frequently chosen by premium and prestige car manufacturers for their sportier models – combines high performance with the comfort and efficiency required by BEVs and PHEVs, It comes in the greatest number of sizes with this technology (over 30%) and is followed by the Scorpion range, dedicated to SUVs, as well as the Cinturato range, dedicated to sedans and CUVs. Pirelli Elect is also available in an increasing percentage of winter tyres (22%) and all-season (17%) tyres, bringing noise reduction and rolling resistance benefits even with heavily treaded tyres that offer greater versatility and safety at lower temperatures.

HIGH PERFORMANCE IN ALL CONDITIONS

The tread pattern of the P Zero MS is optimized to favour both acoustic comfort inside the vehicle and braking on both dry and wet surfaces, in the different conditions encountered throughout the year. In regions with milder climates, the P Zero MS can also be used in winter months and in the presence of mud or snow: small longitudinal cuts run through the tread pattern, providing a uniform contact patch for improved grip on snowy surfaces. A NEW AGREEMENT BETWEEN PIRELLI AND JLR TO SUPPLY FSC^TM-CERTIFIED TYRES

Goodwood, July 11 2024 – Connectivity and sustainability are Pirelli’s watchwords at the Goodwood Festival of Speed, ushering in a new era of tyres. This comes thanks to sensors that collect and transmit information, with the tyres made using advanced materials that are certified by independent third parties. These latest advancements are part of a long story that started some time ago and is now updated with two new chapters.

Leading the way is Pirelli Cyber^TM Tyre: Pirelli’s system based on sensors that for the first time enable tyres – the only point of contact between the car and the road – to talk to the vehicle stability control systems, including ABS, ESP, and traction control. The information provided by the sensors is used to offer better performance as well as safety. This technology will be adopted for the first time by the Pagani Utopia.

As well as offering better connectivity, this new era of the tyre will pay greater attention to the environment. Pirelli continues to invest in research and development, introducing new materials that replace those of fossil origin, and providing third-party certification documenting the origin, traceability and use of these materials. A key part of this strategy is the choice to use only natural rubber that has been certified by FSC^TM (Forest Stewardship Council) in all of Pirelli’s European factories by 2026¹. FSC^TM forestry management applies rigorous standards that requires biological diversity to be preserved, economically benefitting local workers and communities. A wide selection of top of the range Jaguar Land Rover vehicles will use Pirelli tyres containing FSC^TM certified materials, with the JLR group today announcing a supply agreement with Pirelli for these products.

CYBER^TM TYRE: TYRES THAT TALK TO THE CAR’S ELECTRONICS

P Zero Corsa, P Zero Trofeo RS and P Zero Winter are the fitments that have been specifically developed for the Pagani Utopia, all equipped with special sensors embedded in the internal part of the tread pattern. These sensors, connected via Bluetooth to the electronic control unit that manages the vehicle’s dynamic systems, supply useful information so that the car can select the optimal driving mode to match the tyres fitted to the car, in order to make the most of their potential. This dialogue between the car and tyres is made possible thanks to software created and implemented by Pirelli, which works directly with the car’s electronic ‘brain’. For example, if the car is on winter tyres, the ABS will be told how to make the most of them to reduce stopping distances. On the other hand, when the car is on semi-slick tyres, the stability and traction control will be informed that there is additional grip available. Without this information, all the systems that govern the car’s dynamics would work in a more conservative way, using assumptions and engine maps that don’t take into account the individual characteristics and performance of the tyres. This insider ‘technical knowledge’ allows the car’s control systems to work much more effectively, enhancing performance as well as safety.

Pirelli Cyber^TM Tyre is a unique offering on the market, which is already present on some cars currently on sale but now gains this new feature that increases the level of specialization of car electronics, also when it comes to autonomous driving.

ONLY FSC^TM-CERTIFIED NATURAL RUBBER IN EUROPE BY 2026

By 2026 all the natural rubber used in Pirelli’s European factories will be FSC^TM-certified: a process that has already been started and will gradually roll out to all the factories. FSC^TM forestry management certification confirms that plantations are managed in such a way as to preserve biodiversity and deliver benefits to the people who live and work in the area. The certification process for the FSC^TM chain of custody demonstrates that the FSC^TM-certified material has been purposely segregated and is not contaminated by uncertified material; all the way from the plantation to the tyre maker.

At the 2024 Goodwood Festival of Speed, Pirelli announces a collaboration with Jaguar Land Rover (JLR) to supply tyres using materials of forest origin that are FSC^TM-certified across its portfolio of luxury vehicles.

Pirelli created the world’s first roadgoing tyre using FSC^TM certified natural rubber and rayon back in 2021. The other significant stops on this journey included the introduction of tyres made with FSC^TM-certified rubber in Formula 1 from the first grand prix of 2024, as well as the debut of FSC^TM certification in cycling just a few weeks ago with the new Pirelli P Zero Race RS².

VIRTUALISATION AND ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE THE KEY TO PRODUCT DEVELOPMENT

New tools such as virtualisation and artificial intelligence have accelerated product and technology development, thanks also to Pirelli’s commitment to research and development, with the company investing around 5.5% of the revenue from high value tyre sales each year.

These investments and methodologies have taken Pirelli to the leadership of the EV market thanks to Elect technology, which was designed to complement the characteristics of electrified vehicles (both BEV and PHEV). Pirelli also launched the P Zero E³ in 2023: the first UHP tyre with more than 55% of bio-based and recycled materials across the entire replacement tyre launch range (third party certified to ISO 14021 standard) as well as a triple A rating on the European tyre label and the new Pirelli RunForward puncture-proof technology. This product underlines Pirelli’s commitment to the reduction of fossil-based materials in favour of natural or recycled materials. So that customers can identify products that contain at least 50% materials of natural or recycled origin, Pirelli has designed a specific logo to go on the sidewalls. The latest tyre to carry this bespoke marking is the new P Zero Winter 2 Elect⁴ that was launched a few weeks ago, featuring more than 50% of these materials – again certified by third parties.

Milan, 19 June 2024. The teamwork between Pirelli and Porsche has resulted in four sporty tyres for the Stuttgart manufacturer’s emblematic 911: P Zero Trofeo RS and P Zero Corsa for the Porsche 911 GT3 RS, as well as P Zero Trofeo R and P Zero Corsa for the 911 GT3. These new tyres have all been specifically designed to offer safe and pleasant driving on the road as well as on the track. Among them, the P Zero Trofeo RS – the most performance-orientated product in the Pirelli range – has just been judged the best street-legal semi-slick tyre for track driving by German magazine Auto Bild Sportscars, which recently compared several tyres on a 911 GT3 RS.

PORSCHE 911 GT3 RS

The Porsche 911 GT3 RS posed several technical challenges in terms of tyre development. The tyres have to enhance the characteristics of the car on the road but also deliver performance close to that of a racing car, thanks to the extreme aerodynamics and lightness of the vehicle. These quite  opposite demands are met by two new dedicated Pirelli tyres, both in 275/35R20 size at the front and 335/30R21 size at the rear. The P Zero Trofeo RS is a semi-slick tyre designed to achieve high performance on a circuit, while the P Zero Corsa is more road-oriented. The P Zero Trofeo RS for the Porsche 911 GT3 RS has an even wider working range than the P Zero Trofeo R, which derives mainly from Pirelli’s experience at the highest levels of world motorsport. The new tyre allows drivers to push to the limit on track right from the very first laps, thanks its fast warm-up capability that offers immediate grip. It also resists stress even during the most demanding driving sessions, due to the reduced wear rate. This is thanks to a strengthened internal structure, which provides support even under significant aerodynamic loads, as well as a tread design that has been optimised through virtual simulation, not to mention dedicated materials derived from an asphalt rally compound. On top of its impressive performance in the dry, the P Zero Trofeo RS allows safe driving even in wet conditions.

PORSCHE 911 GT3

The P Zero Trofeo R for the Porsche 911 GT3 also features technologies and processes that were born in the world of motorsport. It’s a tyre that has continuously evolved, reaching its development peak in this latest version dedicated to Porsche, which also served as a basis for the P Zero Trofeo RS applied to the 911 GT3 RS. Both the P Zero Trofeo R and the P Zero Corsa for the 911 GT3 are available in 255/35R20 and 315/30R21 sizes.

All tires at the BMW Group are developed specifically for BMW models in accordance with the highest quality and technology standards and therefore get the BMW specific Star-Mark as a seal of approval. This ensures that tires on models of the BMW Group meet the stringent requirements set by BMW, guaranteeing optimal performance and safety. This is in line with Pirelli’s Perfect Fit strategy, which aims to develop specific tires for the cars to be equipped with.

Compared to summer tires, winter tires impact the car’s range due to a higher rolling resistance because of their compounds and tread pattern designed to offer grip on snowy and wet cold asphalt. The rolling resistance of a tire describes the force required for rolling motion, directly influencing the range of a vehicle. The new 20-inch development in collaboration with Pirelli compensates for these disadvantages resulting in an extended range up to 50km for the all-electric BMW 7 Series in comparison to a standard winter tire. The technological advancements in the Pirelli P Zero Winter 2 can be attributed to significant breakthroughs, particularly in the areas of tread pattern and tread compound.

This new development from Pirelli and the BMW Group aligned with their sustainability goals by using renewable materials wherever technically appropriate and reducing the CO2 footprint of their plants. This partnership showcases the shared vision of Pirelli and the BMW Group for environmentally conscious mobility and their dedication to further push the limits of tire technology. The tire will be available for the BMW 7 Series starting from August 2024. The goal is to roll out this new technology to other future BMW models, starting next with the new BMW X3 in the second half of 2024.

Milan, June 4, 2024. Pirelli takes centre stage at The Tire Cologne 2024 –  the most important tyre show in Europe – bringing new all-season and other specialised products, featuring advanced technology and a strong commitment to sustainability.

The hero is the Pirelli P Zero Winter 2: a winter tyre for high-performance cars, which enjoys the highest classification on the European label for wet grip in all sizes from launch. A total of 13 sizes in the range will be equipped with Elect technology, created specifically for BEVs and PHEVs. These tyres are made with over 50% bio-based or recycled materials (as independently certified), which will be displayed in an area of the stand dedicated to sustainability. A version of the P Zero Winter 2 made to the specific requirements of the BMW 7 Series will also be at the show: the first winter car tyre to score "class A" in rolling resistance. This is a key attribute for electrified cars in particular, allowing them to save energy and cover more kilometres on a single charge.

Two other tyres exhibited at The Tire Cologne will be the Powergy Winter and Powergy All Season SF. These complement the summer version launched three years ago, completing the Powergy range. This family of tyres is designed for drivers looking for an affordable solution, without sacrificing safety, efficiency, and comfort.

The Pirelli stand also features a tyre equipped with Pirelli Cyber Track Adrenaline technology: the P Zero Trofeo RS developed for the Audi RS 4 Avant edition 25 years. This is designed for track day enthusiasts who benefit from a "virtual assistant" in the form of an app powered by sensors inside the tyres, helping drivers make the most of their car-tyre package on a circuit.

Pirelli has introduced the P Zero Winter 2, an evolution of the famous winter tyre dedicated to high-performance models. Pirelli's R&D team used virtual design to create a product that's completely different from its predecessor, which had already demonstrated excellent results in different usage conditions.

The new tyre has been developed in specific versions, for drivers of electric and plug-in hybrid cars as well, with 13 sizes available at launch featuring Pirelli Elect: a package of technologies that enhances the characteristics of electric vehicles. These P Zero Winter 2 tyres with Elect technology also feature Pirelli Noise Cancelling System (PNCS), which reduces rolling noise by up to 3 dB thanks to a sound-absorbing sponge applied to the tyre's inner wall.

Additionally, the P Zero Winter 2 replacement range with Elect technology is made with over 50% bio-based or recycled materials* (which are third-party certified according to ISO 14021). This feature is recognisable from the bespoke marking on the sidewall, a logo recently introduced by Pirelli to identify products with a sustainable materials content of at least 50%.

The tread of the P Zero Winter 2 has a directional design and is visibly different from its predecessor, which had an asymmetric tread pattern. The new design brings substantial performance on snow, as well as better braking and handling on dry surfaces, thanks to uniform stiffness and grip over the entire contact area. The sipes, with a 3D structure that guarantees consistent efficiency over the entire tyre life, are wider where the rubber touches the ground and then narrow inwards. This increases grip on snow-covered surfaces while optimising driving performance. The main grooves are connected to each other transversely by smaller sipes, forming a pattern that guarantees adhesion to slippery surfaces in all sorts of driving conditions.

The tread compound is designed to deliver balanced and safe behaviour on different winter surfaces. In particular, the new P Zero Winter 2 boasts the highest rating on the European label for wet grip (class A) across the entire range.

The new replacement range includes 35 sizes between 18 and 22 inches. There are also several original equipment projects underway with some of the world’s best-known car manufacturers, such as Mercedes for the AMG GT, and Aston Martin for an upcoming release. BMW is among the first to choose this new product, having homologated the P Zero Winter 2 as winter equipment for the 7 Series, enhancing the car's specific characteristics. Designed to reduce the traditional performance gap to the equivalent summer product, the P Zero Winter 2 offers the driving pleasure and comfort synonymous with BMW’s electric saloon car even in the coldest months. This is the first winter tyre with sufficiently low rolling resistance to merit "class A" on the European tyre label.

The new Powergy Winter and Powergy All Season SF are designed for drivers looking for an affordable tyre change solution without sacrificing safety, efficiency, and comfort.

POWERGY ALL SEASON SF

The Powergy All Season SF is the perfect choice for those who want to comply with all European regulations throughout the year with a single tyre, thanks to its dual M+S (Mud+Snow) and 3PMSF (Three-Peak-Mountain with Snowflake) markings. The latter certifies that the tyre has passed tests in typically severe winter conditions. The effectiveness of the Powergy All Season SF on dry, wet, and snowy roads is achieved through a combination of compounds and design, thanks to 3D sipes that make the tread adaptable to a wide range of conditions. This technology changes the tyre's behaviour from summer configuration (with stiff and compact blocks) to winter (suitable for gripping snow) thanks to the sipes’ ability to open and close according to the weather. The Powergy All Season SF range, with 19 sizes between 15 and 19 inches, will be available from August.

POWERGY WINTER

For drivers who still prefer seasonal tyre changes, Pirelli has introduced the new Powergy Winter, which ensures safe driving on dry, wet, and snowy roads during the coldest months of the year. Driving control throughout the life of the tyre is guaranteed by variable geometry sipes that change shape as the tread progressively wears, increasing their surface area and effectiveness. The range includes 21 sizes between 15 and 19 inches, available to buy from autumn.

Milan, 28 May 2024. Pirelli is Audi Sport’s exclusive tyre partner for the Audi RS 4 Avant edition 25 years. The anniversary edition of the iconic sports estate car has two tyre options: Pirelli P Zero Corsa as original equipment, as well as a specific track kit consisting of Pirelli P Zero Trofeo RS tyres equipped with Cyber technology and combined with Pirelli’s Track Adrenaline system, both in 275/30R20 size.

The P Zero Corsa is a high-performance tyre suitable for sports driving, which draws on the technologies developed by Pirelli for racing. It also provides the ideal equipment for driving the Audi RS 4 Avant edition 25 years on the road, thanks to its high levels of traction, comfort and safety in the wet as well.

Stability, stress resistance, grip and consistency on track are the characteristics of the new P Zero Trofeo RS, the street-legal semi-slick tyre designed by Pirelli to achieve maximum performance. The custom-made P Zero Trofeo RS tyres for the Audi RS 4 Avant edition 25 years are equipped with Pirelli Cyber sensors that detect tyre status and driving conditions, transmitting them to the driver through an app that is downloadable on any smartphone. These elements, which together with a high-precision GPS module make up the Track Adrenaline system, act as a ‘virtual engineer’ during track sessions. With the digital manometer, drivers can select the desired set-up before moving off. Then, during the session, the information recorded by sensors as well as telemetry detected by the control unit and data from the GPS module is used to record lap times and the ideal racing line. After the session, drivers can analyse the recorded data via the app and so improve their technique.

If accompanied by a passenger, drivers can also activate the ‘live view’ function, which – just like team radio in Formula 1 – gives immediate and brief messages to help the driver: suggesting, for example, to warm up the tyres or come into the pits.

These new tyres and the Track Adrenaline kit for the Audi RS 4 Avant edition 25 years mark a new chapter in the collaboration between Pirelli and Audi for the RS range. Among the many models that have benefitted from this joint development work is the very first Audi RS 4 launched 25 years ago, which was originally equipped with tyres from the P Zero family. Not to mention the RS 4 competition, for which Pirelli is the exclusive original equipment supplier, or the RS Q8 and RS 3, both of which set Nürburgring track records in 2019 and 2021 respectively. Today, the Pirelli range for Audi RS takes in 36 homologations, including summer, winter and track-specific tyres.

ONE P ZERO, THREE SIZES

The three new Pirelli P Zero tyres for the new Lamborghini Urus SE are designed to complement its specific requirements and characteristics. While the 21-inch version emphasises comfort, the 23-inch version is the most performance-orientated and also the most requested. To match the car’s sporty driving style, Pirelli and Lamborghini have both worked to promote a responsive, precise, and predictable steering feel, both in everyday driving and on the track. Thanks to profiles and materials specifically developed to withstand the high forces operating on the Urus, tyre overheating and abrasion are minimised, meaning that even extreme manoeuvres such as drifting are possible. In addition, the use of compounds that aren’t sensitive to temperature changes makes the Lamborghini Urus SE’s P Zero tyres consistent throughout a wide range of conditions, even in the wet. Pirelli’s engineers were also asked to ensure a comfortable drive and low rolling resistance, in order to improve efficiency.

SCORPION WINTER 2 FOR WHEN IT GETS COLD

The Scorpion Winter 2 is the latest update to the winter tyre designed by Pirelli for SUVs. The 3D structure of the tread pattern, in which the sipes take on a zigzag pattern as the tyre wears out, make it effective throughout its life and guarantees safety in cold conditions: especially on snow. For the Lamborghini Urus SE, Pirelli’s R&D department focused particularly on materials, delivering even greater traction thanks to a specific compound tested in the Arctic Circle. This compound, which performs extremely well in the dry, is also highly flexible at low temperatures, offering excellent grip on slippery surfaces.

THE PIRELLI RANGE FOR THE LAMBORGHINI URUS

The new P Zero and Scorpion Winter 2 tyres complete Pirelli’s range developed for the Lamborghini Urus over the years: 21-inch, 22-inch, and 23-inch P Zero and 22-inch P Zero Corsa tyres for summer; 22-inch Scorpion Zero All Season; 21 and 22-inch Scorpion Winter, and 21-inch Scorpion Ice Zero 2 (studded) tyre for winter. On top of that, Pirelli has adapted the P Zero Trofeo R to an SUV for this first time with the Lamborghini Urus Performante. This 22-inch semi-slick tyre, specifically made for the track but also street-legal, helped the Urus Performante set a new record at the 2022 Pikes Peak International Hill Climb: the best-known hillclimb event in the world.

The P Zero E is the first UHP tyre made of more than 55% bio-based and recycled materials¹ and it’s the only one certified by third party. The entire range at launch has been awarded a Triple A rating on the EU tyre label.

The new Cinturato All Season SF3 tyre for medium and compact cars will also be on display in Cologne. The all-season tyre has the highest A rating for wet grip on the EU tyre label in all sizes. On dry roads, it offers stability, noise comfort and low rolling resistance. Independent tests certify its versatility, as Dekra² praised the tyre’s excellent braking performance on dry, wet and snowy roads, while TÜV SÜD³ gave it the Performance Mark. These results have been recently confirmed by important European magazines as well, which elected the Cinturato All Season SF3 the best all-season tyre according to their comparative tests involving the main all-season products on the market.

In Auto Bild Sportscars’ comparative test on wet asphalt, the Cinturato All Season SF3 proved to be "exemplary" in aquaplaning resistance and handling, both on straight and when cornering. In dry conditions it had the best braking, handling, steering response and rolling resistance. Excellent results were achieved even on snow where, according to Auto Bild Sportscars, with the Pirelli tyre "you always travel safely even at high speeds". The German magazine continues: "the new all-season tyre has convincing driving characteristics in all weather conditions". The Italian magazine alVolante states: “The Pirelli Cinturato All Season SF3 stands out. It excels on wet and in dry braking”.

EXCELLENT BRAKING PERFORMANCE AS CERTIFIED BY THIRD PARTIES

The Auto Bild Sportscars and alVolante tests confirm the results already highlighted by two international certification bodies: Dekra, which praised the Cinturato All Season SF3 for its braking performance¹, and TÜV SÜD, which gave it the Performance Mark². All sizes in the launch range also earned the highest rating on the European label (class "A") in wet grip. With stability, acoustic comfort and rolling resistance levels close to those of a summer tyre, it performs even in the hottest months of the year, while grip on snow tested in severe winter conditions - as shown by the 3PMSF marking - makes it also suitable for the cold season. This versatility was obtained thanks to its adaptive tread technology with 3D sipes, which change their shape depending on the conditions, combined with the introduction of innovative compounds that are effective over a wide range of temperatures.

Already available in sizes between 16 and 20 inches, the Cinturato All Season SF3 joins the Cinturato P7 and the Cinturato Winter 2 in a product family that satisfies the different needs of drivers of compact or medium cars. ELECT TECHNOLOGY DEBUTS ON TRACK WITH P ZERO TROFEO RS

Milan, 10 April 2024. Pirelli P Zero R and P Zero Trofeo RS have been chosen by Porsche for the restyling of the Taycan and will be the only tyres available on the Taycan Turbo GT, the sportiest variant of the range. The first is designed for supercars’ everyday driving, while the second is a street-legal semi-slick tyre. Both tyres were launched earlier this year and have been specifically adapted, in collaboration with the German carmaker, to enhance the sportiness and efficiency of the vehicle. Both feature the Elect marking on the sidewall, indicating a package of technological solutions to suit the characteristics of electric vehicles and made its debut in 2019 on the first generation of the Porsche Taycan. Today, Porsche's range includes over 30 Pirelli homologated tyres with Elect technology designed to accompany Porsche's electric transition on different models, such as the Macan.

DRIVING PLEASURE AND EFFICIENCY WITH P ZERO R

Designed to enhance the dynamic qualities and driving pleasure of the Porsche Taycan, the P Zero R tyres homologated for this model are dedicated to daily driving while also being suitable for sportier outings. This objective was achieved thanks to Pirelli's experience as a supplier of the most high-performance models, as well as the development of the Elect technology package, which helps highlight the improved aspects of the car compared to the previous model, such as comfort and battery range. The double-ply carcass makes the tyre structure very resistant and capable of supporting the weight exerted especially on the rear by the aerodynamic load and the presence of the batteries. In this way, the car is stable even at high speeds. To manage the sudden accelerations typical of electric motors, in addition to the reinforced structure, the multi-compound tread, made possible thanks to Pirelli's patented Resin Blend technology, is also functional. The materials inside the compound work in synergy to offer grip in a wide range of temperatures and road surfaces, allowing for high performance even in wet conditions. The tread pattern is designed to minimize noise, while the efficiency required by Porsche is achieved through the combination of compounds and tread pattern, which reduces rolling resistance.

P ZERO TROFEO RS, TRACK-ORIENTED VARIANT BORN AT NÜRBURGRING

Safe for road driving but track-oriented, the P Zero Trofeo RS is the sportiest variant supplied by Pirelli for the new Taycan. In fact, it is the top high-performance tyre in Pirelli's road range, a semi-slick tyre made with specially designed compounds derived from rally products. The specific development of the P Zero Trofeo RS for the new Porsche Taycan allows the car to achieve the maximum in track driving, thus providing high performance on dry surfaces, cornering grip, and consistency that allows for repeatable results over time. Both Pirelli and Porsche put a big effort into the joint development of the tyres. Testing them together with the driving dynamic engineers from Porsche and the development driver Lars Kern was key to achieving the superb driving behaviour and the highest performance especially adapted to the aims of Taycan Turbo GT on the Nürburgring, where the EV sportscar traveled at speeds over 300 km/h. A series of construction solutions were adopted to optimize the tyre's contact patch even at high speeds: the dedicated compound provides grip and stability, the outer shoulder of the tread has a low number of grooves to provide support in conditions of strong lateral acceleration, and the pattern is designed to ensure quick and uniform heating along the entire contact patch. So much so that, even for the most demanding track sessions, this tyre does not require electric blankets. To make the development process faster and more efficient, Pirelli's Virtual Geometry Development system compares a very high number of possible profiles and tread models in a digital environment to define in detail the characteristics and behaviour of the tyre.

Both the P Zero R and the P Zero Trofeo RS developed for this model are available in sizes 265/35ZR21 and 305/30ZR21. To complete the range of Pirelli options for the Porsche Taycan, over the years the company has developed the P Zero, P7 All Season, P7 Blue, and P Zero Winter, with sizes ranging from 19 to 21 inches.
