Among the highlights of the 2026 edition is the new Ferrari Luce, for which Pirelli has developed a bespoke P Zero E: the tyre that combines high performance with more than 55% bio-based and recycled materials, together with low rolling resistance, in a record-setting 24-inch size. Representing the sportiest end of the range is the P Zero Trofeo RS, fitted on the Bentley Supersports, Porsche Taycan Turbo GT with Manthey Kit, and BMW M2 with M Performance Track Kit. Also equipped with Pirelli’s semi-slick tyre is the Pagani Utopia Roadster, the first car to adopt Cyber Tyre, Pirelli’s technology that enables tyres to communicate directly with the vehicle’s electronic systems through integrated sensors. In the luxury and comfort segment, the Rolls-Royce Spectre and Jaguar Type 01 are fitted with P Zero Elect tyres, developed specifically for electric and plug-in hybrid vehicles. Both models also feature large-diameter tyres of up to 23 inches.

Among the vehicles fitted with Pirelli P Zero Trofeo RS tyres is the Koenigsegg Sadair's Spear megacar, as well as its LEGO Technic replica, which set the speed record for a drivable LEGO car on the Goodwood Hillclimb, reaching 111 km/h.

Every tyre in the P Zero family shares a technological heritage rooted in motorsport, which has always served as Pirelli’s open-air laboratory. Through its involvement at the highest levels of competition, including more than 350 motorsport events each year, Pirelli develops technological innovations, such as virtual development processes, that are subsequently transferred to road tyre production. It is no coincidence that the tyres used by Pirelli in the world’s most prestigious racing series also carry the P Zero name, starting with Formula 1.

Milan, 11 September 2025 – Pirelli and Aston Martin have agreed to collaborate on the integration of Pirelli’s exclusive Cyber Tyre technology into the British ultra-luxury performance brand’s future vehicles. Cyber Tyre is the first system in the world, able to collect data and information from sensors located directly in the tyres themselves, process that data with Pirelli’s proprietary software and algorithms and, in real time, communicate with the vehicle’s electronics to create new functionalities integrated within the driving and control systems. Cyber Tyre, thanks to the cooperation with Bosch Engineering, will be fully integrated within the electronic architecture that governs the vehicle’s dynamics in future Aston Martin models.

Pirelli Cyber Tyre technology enables the car to gather crucial information from the tyres via sensors positioned in the inner part of the tread. This information, processed with Pirelli’s exclusive algorithms, is transmitted to an electronic control unit which optimises the vehicle’s dynamics. This way the main electronic dynamic driving systems performance - including ESP, ABS and traction control - are enhanced by a comprehensive set of tyre data not previously available. Both Aston Martin and Pirelli are dedicated to creating incredible ultra-luxury performance sports cars and the addition of Pirelli’s Cyber Tyre system is a further technology step enabling Aston Martin’s class leading performance.

Pirelli Cyber Tyre is the world's first system based on tyres with integrated sensors that collect data and transmit it to the vehicle to be processed in real time. Bosch has already developed an ESP application specifically adapted to Pirelli tyres in an initial joint project with the hypercar manufacturer Pagani Automobili. The “Pirelli Cyber Tyre” technology on the Pagani Utopia Roadster transmits key tyre information to the ESP control unit. This enables optimal use of the individual properties and performance of the tyres, providing enhanced greatest safety and tailored driving conditions.

As a global supplier of technology and services, Bosch contributes its system-level hardware and software expertise to the development cooperation. Bosch is also a leader in MEMS (Micro-Electro-Mechanical Systems) sensor technology and develops and manufactures tyre pressure sensors using the "Bluetooth Low Energy" (BLE) standard. By merging this expertise with Pirelli's in-tyre devices technologies – both hardware and software, algorithms, and tyre modeling, it will be possible to collect, process, and transmit real-time tyre data to provide parameters for the vehicle's electronic control system, using BLE with very low power consumption. Goodwood, July 11 2024 – Connectivity and sustainability are Pirelli’s watchwords at the Goodwood Festival of Speed, ushering in a new era of tyres. This comes thanks to sensors that collect and transmit information, with the tyres made using advanced materials that are certified by independent third parties. These latest advancements are part of a long story that started some time ago and is now updated with two new chapters.

Leading the way is Pirelli Cyber^TM Tyre: Pirelli’s system based on sensors that for the first time enable tyres – the only point of contact between the car and the road – to talk to the vehicle stability control systems, including ABS, ESP, and traction control. The information provided by the sensors is used to offer better performance as well as safety. This technology will be adopted for the first time by the Pagani Utopia.

As well as offering better connectivity, this new era of the tyre will pay greater attention to the environment. Pirelli continues to invest in research and development, introducing new materials that replace those of fossil origin, and providing third-party certification documenting the origin, traceability and use of these materials. A key part of this strategy is the choice to use only natural rubber that has been certified by FSC^TM (Forest Stewardship Council) in all of Pirelli’s European factories by 2026¹. FSC^TM forestry management applies rigorous standards that requires biological diversity to be preserved, economically benefitting local workers and communities. A wide selection of top of the range Jaguar Land Rover vehicles will use Pirelli tyres containing FSC^TM certified materials, with the JLR group today announcing a supply agreement with Pirelli for these products.

CYBER^TM TYRE: TYRES THAT TALK TO THE CAR’S ELECTRONICS

P Zero Corsa, P Zero Trofeo RS and P Zero Winter are the fitments that have been specifically developed for the Pagani Utopia, all equipped with special sensors embedded in the internal part of the tread pattern. These sensors, connected via Bluetooth to the electronic control unit that manages the vehicle’s dynamic systems, supply useful information so that the car can select the optimal driving mode to match the tyres fitted to the car, in order to make the most of their potential. This dialogue between the car and tyres is made possible thanks to software created and implemented by Pirelli, which works directly with the car’s electronic ‘brain’. For example, if the car is on winter tyres, the ABS will be told how to make the most of them to reduce stopping distances. On the other hand, when the car is on semi-slick tyres, the stability and traction control will be informed that there is additional grip available. Without this information, all the systems that govern the car’s dynamics would work in a more conservative way, using assumptions and engine maps that don’t take into account the individual characteristics and performance of the tyres. This insider ‘technical knowledge’ allows the car’s control systems to work much more effectively, enhancing performance as well as safety.

Pirelli Cyber^TM Tyre is a unique offering on the market, which is already present on some cars currently on sale but now gains this new feature that increases the level of specialization of car electronics, also when it comes to autonomous driving.

ONLY FSC^TM-CERTIFIED NATURAL RUBBER IN EUROPE BY 2026

By 2026 all the natural rubber used in Pirelli’s European factories will be FSC^TM-certified: a process that has already been started and will gradually roll out to all the factories. FSC^TM forestry management certification confirms that plantations are managed in such a way as to preserve biodiversity and deliver benefits to the people who live and work in the area. The certification process for the FSC^TM chain of custody demonstrates that the FSC^TM-certified material has been purposely segregated and is not contaminated by uncertified material; all the way from the plantation to the tyre maker.

At the 2024 Goodwood Festival of Speed, Pirelli announces a collaboration with Jaguar Land Rover (JLR) to supply tyres using materials of forest origin that are FSC^TM-certified across its portfolio of luxury vehicles.

Pirelli created the world’s first roadgoing tyre using FSC^TM certified natural rubber and rayon back in 2021. The other significant stops on this journey included the introduction of tyres made with FSC^TM-certified rubber in Formula 1 from the first grand prix of 2024, as well as the debut of FSC^TM certification in cycling just a few weeks ago with the new Pirelli P Zero Race RS².

VIRTUALISATION AND ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE THE KEY TO PRODUCT DEVELOPMENT

New tools such as virtualisation and artificial intelligence have accelerated product and technology development, thanks also to Pirelli’s commitment to research and development, with the company investing around 5.5% of the revenue from high value tyre sales each year.

These investments and methodologies have taken Pirelli to the leadership of the EV market thanks to Elect technology, which was designed to complement the characteristics of electrified vehicles (both BEV and PHEV). Pirelli also launched the P Zero E³ in 2023: the first UHP tyre with more than 55% of bio-based and recycled materials across the entire replacement tyre launch range (third party certified to ISO 14021 standard) as well as a triple A rating on the European tyre label and the new Pirelli RunForward puncture-proof technology. This product underlines Pirelli’s commitment to the reduction of fossil-based materials in favour of natural or recycled materials. So that customers can identify products that contain at least 50% materials of natural or recycled origin, Pirelli has designed a specific logo to go on the sidewalls. The latest tyre to carry this bespoke marking is the new P Zero Winter 2 Elect⁴ that was launched a few weeks ago, featuring more than 50% of these materials – again certified by third parties.

Pirelli CYBER Fleet is an enhanced tyre specific fleet management solution that utilises a sensor on the inside of each tyre to measure and analyse both temperature and pressure data. This data is gathered and relayed to an app that can be downloaded onto a tablet or smartphone and sent to Geotab’s digital platform, MyGeotab, which in turn helps simplify the monitoring process for daily truck and tyre checks. This integrated solution also allows for vehicle insights to be viewed remotely, which can help fleet managers quickly identify potential issues, contributing to improved efficiency and better planning for necessary vehicle maintenance. THE LATEST STEP TOWARDS AUTONOMOUS DRIVING AS CARS FEEL THEIR WAY OVER THE ROAD FOR COMPLETE SAFETY

Milan, February 17, 2021 – For the first time, Pirelli now equips as standard a tyre with sensors that can talk to a car. This world premiere when it comes to original equipment is thanks to Pirelli’s Cyber Tyre system, made up of a sensor in each tyre that gathers vital data for safe driving, linked to software integrated into the car’s onboard computer. The car in question is the McLaren Artura complete with sensor-equipped tyres: a hybrid supercar packed with technology for an even safer and more involved driving experience. Cyber Tyre technology offers a plethora of information to the car and driver: the tyre’s ‘passport’ – the type of tyre, whether it’s a winter or summer version, prescribed pressure, load index and speed rating – as well as current running information, such as temperature and pressure.

PIRELLI’S CYBER TYRE

This information – including temperature and pressure, constantly monitored and transmitted in real time – is vital when it comes to safety. The information is also delivered, with greater precision compared to traditional sensors on the valve, as the Pirelli transmitting sensors are in direct contact with the actual tyres rather than the wheel rims. The data supplied from the sensors is processed by software created by Pirelli that is integrated into the car’s electronics. Some information can be seen on the dashboard and the central display; other information is used by the car’s electronics to calibrate the driver alert systems based on the exact characteristics of the tyres and their status.

SAFETY FIRST ON THE ROAD

For example, a car equipped with Pirelli’s Cyber Tyre system can alert a driver that they need to check tyre pressures in order to continue driving safely. Alternatively, when it’s time to change the type of tyres – which often carry a different speed rating from summer to winter – the car alerts the driver when the maximum speed for that tyre has been reached. The specific functionality of Cyber tyres is chosen and defined by the manufacturers adopting them for each model.

A VIRTUAL RACE ENGINEER ON BOARD

In the case of the McLaren, some of these functions have been specifically selected for use on a race track. For example, Pirelli Cyber Tyre allows the driver to adapt tyre pressures to obtain better performance on track based on their individual driving style. As a result, the alerts that each driver receives are altered too. Drivers can also be notified about when the tyres have reached optimal temperature, allowing them to access the correct window to extract the maximum possible performance out of the car-tyre package. Drivers can additionally be told when to cool their tyres again. Just as if there were a proper race engineer in the passenger seat.

TAILOR-MADE TYRES WITH SENSORS

Pirelli’s engineers have developed bespoke P Zero tyres for the McLaren Artura in 235/35Z R19 size at the front and 295/35 R20 size at the back together with McLaren’s own engineers. The tyres have an asymmetric tread pattern, which gives excellent braking performance to guarantee control of the car under all conditions, particularly when it’s wet. P Zero Corsa tyres, developed specifically for use on the track as well as the road, are also available, featuring a compound derived from Pirelli’s motorsport experience. For winter, the McLaren Artura benefits from unique P Zero Winter tyres specifically designed to match its characteristics, with a tailor-made compound and tread pattern design that guarantees performance similar to the P Zero summer tyre. All three of these tyres for the McLaren Artura can be distinguished by their MC-C markings on the sidewalls, which indicates the unique development that has been carried out by Pirelli especially for McLaren, using Cyber Tyre technology.

PIRELLI CYBER: ONE TECHNOLOGY WITH MANY DIFFERENT APPLICATIONS

The Pirelli Cyber Tyre system will represent the future of tyres: capable of giving cars a sense of touch by allowing them to identify or predict potentially hazardous situations such as loss of grip and aquaplaning, which means that the cars electronics can promptly intervene.

The next step will be tyres connected to a network with other vehicles and the surrounding infrastructure. Back in November of 2019, Pirelli was the first tyre company in the world to share information relating to road surfaces over the 5G network, thanks to sensor-equipped intelligent tyres. This was presented at the “world-first 5G enhanced ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistance Systems) services” showcase event in Turin.

TOWARDS AUTONOMOUS DRIVING

These systems is constantly evolving, in the same way that autonomous driving systems are also becoming more and more advanced. The jobs entrusted to the driver today – assessing the level of grip provided by the road surface and weather conditions – will be increasingly handed over to the tyres, meaning that the car will automatically slow down when conditions become slippery, with driver aids activated to increase safety. As connectivity between vehicles comes online, a car will be able to advise other driverless cars about an imminent potential hazard. All this adds up to a genuine sense of touch delivered by the only part of the car in contact with the road: its tyres.
