PASCAL WEHRLEIN CONCLUDES THE LATEST PIRELLI TYRE TEST
WITH MERCEDES IN PREPARATION FOR 2017 AT BARCELONA

COOL TEMPERATURES, FOG, AND RAIN AFFECT THE TEST PROGRAMME:
ONLY 91 LAPS COMPLETED IN TOTAL OVER TWO DAYS,
WITH THE FINAL DAY INTERRUPTED

TESTING WILL NOW CONTINUE IN THE MORE REPRESENTATIVE CONDITIONS

Milan, October 13, 2016 – Following overnight rain, the final day of the Pirelli 2017 tyre test with Mercedes at Barcelona got underway with a damp surface, track temperatures of just 15 degrees centigrade, and fog. The rain returned in the afternoon, ending the session prematurely.

Despite this, it was possible to complete some laps with Pascal Wehrlein at the wheel in the morning. The young German, who has been the most prolific tester of Pirelli tyres this year, completed 31 laps at the Circuit de Catalunya today, using the Cinturato Intermediate compounds in the new wider 2017 sizes.

Added to the 60 laps driven by world championship leader Nico Rosberg yesterday, this makes a total of 91 laps completed over two days, using a 2015 Mercedes that has been modified to simulate 2017 levels of downforce.

Pirelli's motorsport director Paul Hembery commented: "Obviously the weather hindered progress to some extent both today and yesterday, as is not entirely unexpected at this time of year in Europe. The same can apply to the early part of next year, which is why we are in favour of some guaranteed warm weather testing in 2017, before the season gets underway."

The next Pirelli test of the season will take place in Abu Dhabi with Red Bull from October 14-16.

Milan, September 21, 2016 – The first day of the latest Pirelli tyre test has concluded at the Paul Ricard circuit in the south of France, with Mercedes. Pascal Wehrlein drove a mule car, modified to simulate 2017 levels of downforce, in order to test next year’s wider wet tyres.

Conditions remained sunny with ambient temperatures reaching 25 degrees centigrade, as well as some wind that made it quite tricky to maintain a consistent level of water on the track between one run and the next. Nonetheless, Wehrlein already covered 80 laps in the morning, ending the day with a total of 135 laps under his belt.

These tests will continue tomorrow to complete the two-day session, again with Wehrlein at the wheel.

The dimensions for the 2017 wet weather tyres are:
Intermediate: 305/675-13 at the front and 405/675-13 at the back;
Full wet: 305/680-13 at the front and 405/680-13 at the back.

The dimensions for the 2017 slick tyres are 305/670-13 at the front and 405/67-13 at the back.

The spectacular Matterley Basin circuit hosted the eleventh round of the 2016 FIM Motocross World Championship. The British track - located in a green ‘bowl’ setting near the town of Winchester – features medium/ hard soil that showcased the excellent performance of the SCORPION™ MX32™ and the tyres that allowed Pirelli their eleventh Grand Prix win in both classes and to continue their 100% record in 2016. Tim Gajser won again in the MXGP class by owning both motos. At Matterley Basin the Slovenian preferred the SCORPION™ MX32™ 120/90-19 on the rear that allowed him to manage the power of his CRF450R, while on the front he used - like all Pirelli’s riders - the SCORPION™ MX32™ 80 / 100-21. Thanks to his sixth victory of the season, Gajser has consolidated his lead in the championship with 74 points over the unfortunate Romain Febvre who missed the races on Sunday after a heavy crash on Saturday. The world champion will miss also the next Grand Prix of Lombardia at Mantova in Italy. An excellent second place was secured by Max Nagl who, unlike Gajser, opted for a SCORPION™ MX32™ 110/90-19 rear. It was an unlucky day for Antonio Cairoli; second in the first moto the Italian then suffered a sore wrist after a hard landing from the quad jump in the second race and finished sixth overall. Jeffrey Herlings was once again unbeatable in the MX2 class. The strong Dutch rider raced with Pirelli SCORPION™ MX32™ 110/90-19 rear and SCORPION™ MX32™ 80/100-21 front and won both motos to extend his advantage in the championship standings. Second place belonged to Dylan Ferrandis, equipped by the same Pirelli tyres as the winner, in front of Pauls Jonass. Several mistakes kept Jeremy Seewer off the podium and in fourth overall but the Swiss still defends second place in the championship. Saturday's Qualifying Heat winner Max Anstie grabbed fifth position at his home Grand Prix. Milan, June 16, 2016 - Pirelli will bring the following three compounds to the sixteenth round of the 2016 Formula One season in Malaysia*, to be held (September 29 - October 2) on the Sepang circuit:
     P Zero Orange hard
     P Zero White medium
     P Zero Yellow soft

These are the tyres that Pirelli has said must be used at some point in the race:
     Two sets of P Zero Orange hard.
Each driver must have both these sets available for the race, and must use at least one of them.

There are the tyres assigned for Q3 in qualifying:
     One set of P Zero Yellow soft
Following the regulations, each driver must save for Q3 one set of the softest of the three nominated compounds. This set will be given back to Pirelli after Q3 for those who qualify in the top 10, but the remaining drivers will keep it for the race.

The teams are free to choose the remaining 10 sets; making up 13 sets in total for the weekend.

*The new 2016 tyre regulations mean that tyre nomination for long-haul events have to be made 14 weeks in advance, whereas for European races the deadline is eight weeks in advance.

Milan, June 2, 2016 - Pirelli will bring the following three compounds to the fifteenth round of the 2016 Formula One season in Singapore*, to be held (September 15-18) on its street circuit:
    P Zero Yellow soft
    P Zero Red supersoft
    P Zero Purple ultrasoft

These are the tyres that Pirelli has said must be used at some point in the race:
    One set of P Zero Yellow soft
    One set of P Zero Red supersoft.
Each driver must have both these sets available for the race, and must use at least one of them.

There are the tyres assigned for Q3 in qualifying:
    One set of P Zero Purple ultrasoft
Following the regulations, each driver must save for Q3 one set of the softest of the three nominated compounds. This set will be given back to Pirelli after Q3 for those who qualify in the top 10, but the remaining drivers will keep it for the race.

The teams are free to choose the remaining 10 sets; making up 13 sets in total for the weekend.

Milan, May 19, 2016 - Pirelli will bring the following three compounds to the eleventh round of the 2016 Formula One season in Hungary*, to be held (July 21-24) on the Hungaroring circuit:
P Zero White medium
P Zero Yellow soft
P Zero Red supersoft

These are the tyres that Pirelli has said must be used at some point in the race:
One set of P Zero White medium
One set of P Zero Yellow soft.
Each driver must have both these sets available for the race, and must use at least one of them.

There are the tyres assigned for Q3 in qualifying:
One set of P Zero Red supersoft
Following the regulations, each driver must save for Q3 one set of the softest of the three nominated compounds. This set will be given back to Pirelli after Q3 for those who qualify in the top 8, but the remaining drivers will keep it for the race – as is the case currently.

The teams are free to choose the remaining 10 sets; making up 13 sets in total for the weekend.
