Victory and podiums for Pirelli at the Gand Prix of Switzerland of the FIM Motocross World Championship

Switzerland saw a second consecutive victory for Jeffrey Herlings in MXGP while Jeremy Seewer and Pauls Jonass end up on the podium in MX2. Antonio Cairoli and Pauls Jonass are still leading MXGP and MX2 Championship standings

For the second year in a row the Frauenfeld circuit - located in the region of Thurgau and about 40km from Zurich - hosted the Grand Prix of Switzerland; the fifteenth round of the FIM Motocross World Championship. On the Swiss hard-pack that had been softened by rainfall in the days before the race, Pirelli SCORPION™ MX32™ Mid Soft front and rear, was largely chosen as the best solution to tackle the latest episode of MXGP and the rough terrain. Jeffrey Herlings won the MXGP class for the second time and just seven days after succeeding in Lommel, Belgium. Sixth in the first outing, the Dutch rider took the lead in race 2 on the second lap and kept it to the flag. Gautier Paulin celebrated a great second place with the same points as Herlings and stood ahead of Antonio Cairoli, who is still firmly in possession of the red plate in the championship. Romain Febvre was fourth and Max Anstie rounded-out a Pirelli top five. Pirelli filled the top eight positions in the MXGPclass overall.

Jeremy Seewer performed fantastically in MX2 to finish second overall. The Swiss rider - with great speed prompted by his home crowd - dominated qualification and the first race. Unfortunately, a fall on the first lap of the second moto forced Seewer into a tough flight of recovery that brought him from last to fifth place but denied the Suzuki man the joy of overall victory. Pauls Jonass finished third and holds first position in the championship with 49 points over Seewer. There was a good performance also by Thomas Covington in fourth and Jorge Pradoin fifth.

Still no break for the teams and riders. Next weekend will see the paddock facing the Grand Prix of Sweden at Uddevalla.
