A LONG SEASON OF GT RACING FOR THE PIRELLI P ZERO GETS UNDERWAY AT BATHURST, OVER 70 CHAMPIONSHIPS AND 400 RACES ACROSS 5 CONTINENTS

The P Zero DHF is competitive at all race track thanks to its versatility and reliability

Over 200 Pirelli fitters and engineers working at the races

Braga: “We are about to tackle a demanding and exciting season, with a solid team and an effective product, much appreciated by all competitors”

It begins in February with a 12 hour race in Australia and ends in December with a six hour event in Jeddah. In between, there are over 400 races across 70 championships for GT cars, in Europe, North America, South America, Asia and Oceania. That, in a nutshell, is Pirelli’s 2024 GT racing programme, with the company yet again this year the most heavily involved tyre manufacturer in world level motorsport, both on track and off-road.

Over 200 fitters, engineers and other staff from the elongated P will cover events on five continents during this long and busy season, starting with the 12 Hours of Bathurst, from 16 to 18 February, the opening round of the Intercontinental GT Challenge. The Australian event looks like being one of the toughest in a year which stands out for the large number of entries and the prestige attached to series such as GTWC Europe, America, Asia and Australia, the Macau GP, the national and international GT4 series, European GT2, the Ferrari Challenge, the McLaren Trophy and TransAm.

PIRELLI QUOTE
Matteo Braga, head of Circuit Activity Pirelli: “We are about to embark an exciting and demanding season with a strong and motivated team from headquarters and the local markets. We take on this challenge knowing we can count on excellent working relationships and partnerships with federations, promoters, teams, drivers and car manufacturers, that have grown stronger over the years. We can also rely on a product that has proved to be versatile and reliable at all circuits and in all conditions. We will use the races to gather data and information useful for future development of our product, which undergoes a state of constant evolution, often ahead of that of the cars which over the years have become more powerful and faster.”

THE TYRES FOR THE GT CARS
Starting with the Australian race and then at all other circuits where Pirelli partners GT car championships, the tyre used will be the P Zero DHF. It does not feature any significant innovations compared to last season, when it proved to be up to the task required of it by the current race cars. The DHF, the latest evolution of which made its debut last year, was developed to meet the specific demands of all GT classes. Among the main characteristics of this tyre are a wide working range and a construction that optimises car balance through a better connection between front and rear.

The DHF is also a more sustainable product than those that came before it. Right from the development stage, the environmental impact of the DHF is reduced through extensive use of virtual modelling, replacing the number of physical prototypes by almost 20%. The P Zero range intended for the various GT classes uses new types of renewable material that further reduce its environmental footprint.
