Andreucci's PZero-Equipped Mitsubishi dominates the 2008 rally "1000 MIGLIA"

The 2008 Mille Miglia Rally - a round of the European and Italian Championships held around Brescia last weekend - was an positive event for Pirelli. As well as an overall victory for Andreucci-Andreussi in the factory Mitsubishi Lancer Evo, there were many other class victories for cars running on Pirelli rubber. Cavallini-Zanella were the top privateers in their Peugeot 207 S2000, while the Renault Clio S1600 of Torlasco-Brega won the two-wheel drive category.
Andreucci was the class of the field. His Pirelli PZero-equipped Mitsubishi pulled out nearly a minute over Rossetti's Peugeot 207 S2000 and was more than three and a half minutes ahead of the Travaglia-Granai Abarth Grande Punto S2000. Other drivers who starred on the event included Alex Perico, who was fighting for the top positions in his Pirelli-equipped Peugeot 207 S2000 until halfway through the event. He eventually finished ninth overall after dropping several minutes with power steering problems.
Mario Isola, Pirelli's Rally Manager, commented: "The 2008 1000 Miglia Rally, which was run almost entirely in wet conditions, saw some extremely competitive performances from the Pirelli runners on tried and tested products. This was certainly the case for the RE7 and RX7 PZero tyres, which played their distinct part in a commanding victory from Andreucci-Andreussi. These tyres also made the difference in a highly-competitive two-wheel drive field, which was won by Torlasco's Renault Clio S1600 on Pirelli tyres."
