Double victory for Pirelli at Semarang for the Grand Prix of Asia of the FIM Motocross World Championship

Tim Gajser dominates in the MXGP class and increases his lead in the standings. Jorge Prado takes an eleventh overall MX2 victory from twelve races to consolidate the red plate as Championship leader

For the second year in a row the Semarang circuit hosted a round of the FIM Motocross World Championship. The Grand Prix of Asia represented the twelfth fixture of the season and the second consecutive race to be held in Indonesia. The hard soil that had been abundantly watered during the weekend proved to be particularly tricky causing even the most experienced riders to make mistakes. Thanks to the excellent performance of the SCORPION™ MX32™ Mid Soft front and rearPirelli-equipped riders were able to record five podium finishes out of six and swept the MX2 top three.

There was a double victory and eighth success of the season for Tim Gajser who continues his triumphant charge towards a second MXGP title. Despite a slight ankle sprain picked-up Saturday’s Time Practice, the Slovenian was unrivaled in both races. Jeremy Seewer took third place and climbed to second in the championship standings. Despite key absences due to injury, Pirelli and their riders occupy the top three positions in premier class standings.

Jorge Prado continues to be the strongest in the MX2 class. After starting among the leaders, the defending champion shook off his opponents in the opening laps and rode undisturbed to the finish line, winning both races. Thomas Kjer Olsen's fall at the start of race two allowed the Spaniard to further increase his lead in the standings. There was a fantastic second position for Tom Vialle who, thanks to points earned in Semarang, has risen to third place in the championship. Two good comebacks allowed Calvin Vlaanderen to scale the last step of the podium. Pirelli literally dominated MX2 by placing eight riders in the top ten positions of the overall classification.

After the Indonesian double, the riders will have a free week and return to Europe to prepare for the Grand Prix of Czech Republic, which will be hosted by the old 'Serpentine’ circuit at Loket.
