FIA GT 2003 Championship: fifth round in England at the Donington Park Circuit
Milan, June 23th, 2003 - Donington Park Circuit, where the FIA GT
championship reaches the mid-point of the season on June 28th and
29th, is a track situated in the Midlands of England. It's a
circuit appreciated by nearly all drivers, with its combination of
fast corners, including the Craner Curves, the slower chicane and
the unique Melbourne loop, the track demands a real compromise in
set-up and the tyres are subjected to particular stresses with the
many direction changes.
After four races, the situation in the GT category sees always BMS Scuderia Italia with the Ferrari 550 Maranello maintaining a strong leading position with 62 points, 23 on the second team, Lister Racing of Matteo Bobbi and Thomas Biagi who have now 17 points of distance from the rest of the drivers: the position at present seems "safe" for them, but other teams are more and more concentrated to reach them and there are other five rounds in the Championship to do this. Other teams will bring all their resources in order to overturn the classification.
In N-GT category, Team JMB Racing - Pirelli with the Ferrari 360 Modena is second at only one point from the leading team, Maranello Concessionaires, and its drivers Fabrizio De Simone and Andrea Bertolini are first in general classification with 29 points.
