FIA GT 2003 Championship: seventh round in Sweden at the Anderstorp circuit

The "Scandinavian Raceway" of Anderstorp will see the seventh round of this Championship on September 6th and 7th. After a short pause following the 24 Hours of Spa - Francorchamp, the teams are ready to face the last four contests with great determination: there is still space in order to fight for the title.

The circuit of Anderstorp was born in 1968 on an airport track and is situated in central-south Sweden; the Formula 1 Grand Prix of Sweden was run here in the heyday of Ronnie Peterson from 1973 to 1978. Its a medium-fast track, characterized by a very long straight (the former track of the airport) and some curves and bottleneck which require a lot of precision from the drivers. It is famous for the "Carousel" curve that gives the feeling of never ending: a demanding fight between centrifugal force centrifuge and tyre grip.
Another important aspect of this circuit is the potential for rain, that in this zone and during this period of the year can really be the discriminating element. Pirelli, coming from the victory at the 24 hours of Zolder, will be ready to supply to their teams all the versions of compounds and treads available of the P Zero Race tyre in order to face every asphalt condition.

After six races, the situation in GT category sees the team BMS Scuderia Italia with the Ferrari 550 Maranello at the head of the classification while the drivers championship classification is still open, even if Bobbi and Biagi have an encouraging margin of 11 points on Bryner and Calderari. During this next contest team JMB Racing - Pirelli will have to confirm the great progress that the Ferrari 550 has evidenced in the 24 Hours of Spa in terms of performances but, above all, of reliability. Also the reliability of the Viper - Pirelli of the team Force One could be a determining element at the Anderstorp's race.

In N-GT category, the superpower of the Porsche 996 of the team Freisinger Motorsport is key in this phase of the championship: the team JMB Racing - Pirelli with the Ferrari 360 Modena is in third position and its pilots De Simone and Bertolini are very motivated to recover the head of the classification.
