FIA GT 2004: first round at Monza
The show which provided plenty of thrill in the last 2003 events is here again: the first 2004 FIA GT season will be held on the last week-end of March (26/27/28) on one of the most important and historic circuits in the world: the Monza Autodromo. It is the temple of speed, the only circuit where it is possible for the GT drivers to drive their cars to the finish of the 500km-distance event before the maximum term of 3 hours. The 2004 season will present some new entries. The first one is a new team, totally Italian: the newly formed GPC Squadra Corse will present the two dominators at the 2003 Estoril event, the Pirelli-fitted Ferrari 575 GTC. At its wheel, Fabio Babini and Philipp Peter are confirmed, and the second Ferrari 575 drivers team will be formed Emanuele Naspetti and Mike Hezemans. In GT class another Pirelli PZero-fitted team will be in the position to fight for victory: Konrad Motorsport with its Saleen S7-R, a car that in the last races of 2003 constantly its high competitiveness. At the wheel of the Saleen S7-R, the expert Walter Lechner Jr. and Uwe Alzen. More job, in the N-GT class, expects the new GPC Squadra Corse team. They will run a Pirelli-fitted Ferrari 360 Modena drived by Christian Pescatori and Fabrizio De Simone, who will try to repeat their impressive performances of 2003. Pirelli Competizioni is ready to start the new season with its team of technicians dedicated to totally support their teams: between the news, in particular it is to indicate the new rain tyre "RR" (Rain Racing), with new compounds and innovative tread tested for thousands of kilometers on the Pirelli track of Vizzola and at Fiorano, the Ferrari's test circuit.
