FIA GT 2004: great debut for Pirelli at Monza with double podium
The first race of the FIA GT 2004 Championship is concluded with a fine result. In GT class, the Saleen Pirelli of Konrad team have been distinguished for the stunning performances expressed in the few laps of race (Alzen author of the best lap), imposing an incredible rhythm to the Ferrari 550 of Scuderia Italia team, then victorious. The misfortune has broke off a radiator of the Saleen of Uwe Alzen because of a detritus in track, while the other Saleen PZero equipped with Walter Lechner has been thrown outside track, with a seriously unsports gesture by Coronel of Lister Racing at the first lap. The double stint with the same Pirelli PZero tyre set of the Ferrari 575 with Peter and Babini allowed to reach the podium. Fabio Babini confirms: "the consistency of performances supplied by the second set of the PZero tyres was stunning, that they have guaranteed the best performances during all second part of the race". Good results therefore for the Ferrari 575 GTC PZero equipped, here at their debut with the new GPC Squadra Corse team: they have demonstrated to have great reliability and good overall balance of performances in the three hours of race, finishing in third and fourth position and always maintaining the head regarding the others Ferrari 575 fitted by the competitor. In N-GT the Ferrari 360 GTC - Pirelli of Pescatori and De Simone has confirmed the fine performances of the car finishing the race in second position, without any particular problems during the week-end, waiting for the next race in Valencia for better engine performances.
