PIRELLI RECEIVES 'JD POWER AND ASSOCIATES 2006 HIGHEST IN OE SATISFACTION FOR MASS MARKET/NON-LUXURY VEHICLES AWARD'

Pirelli P6 Four Seasons is star product of the segment


Milan, September 13, 2006. Confirmation of the remarkable progress that Pirelli has made in the US comes from the publication of this years JD Power and Associates 2006 Original Equipment Tire Satisfaction Study?, where Pirelli has received the award of Highest in OE Satisfaction for Mass Market/Non-Luxury Vehicles.

Pirelli scored better than segment average in all five satisfaction factors with particularly positive scores in tyre traction and tyre appearance.

The key Pirelli product in these outstanding results was the Pirelli P6 Four Seasons, Pirelli's all-season tyre for high performance in all weather conditions, winter or summer.

The major fitments are with Ford, Pirelli's key OE partner in North America, though also satisfied customers of General Motors figured in Pirelli's positive results.

This years JD Power and Associates study was based on the experiences and opinions of almost 23,000 United States consumers in their first two years of vehicle ownership, reporting how satisfied or dissatisfied they are with their original equipment tyres. The study monitors customer perceptions regarding quality, satisfaction, performance and brand image. Overall satisfaction is calculated using a tire satisfaction index that includes five factors: tyre wearability, traction, appearance, ride and handling.

Pirelli Tyre commented 'This is a really outstanding result for us, especially when you consider that Pirelli is only a recent entrant to the mass market in North America. Everyone knows how good our ultra high performance tyres are, but this award demonstrates also how Pirelli technology has been applied to our everyday products like P6 Four Seasons, delivering high levels of customer satisfaction'.
