Le Mans 24 Hours: the myth is renewed, Pirelli wins in LMP2 category

The 72 Le Mans 24 Hours has renewed its fame of a sporting monument. This race, as usual, has demonstrated again that is a unique challenge: it's an occasion apart, in France but also between the international motor sport scene. More than 200.000 spectators during these days have assisted and supported their preferred teams and drivers, giving a hard work to the organisation to control the situation. The race has been dominated by the Audis in general classification, victorious for the fourth time in five years, while the Lola Judd Pirelli equipped of the Intersport team has won in the own category running with performances' constancy for all the race. Binnie, Field and Sutherland have gained various positions in the first half of the race, well supported from the Pirelli covers that have excelled for reliability, allowing the Lola of the Intersport Team to cover -during the night- four consecutive stint with the same rubber set. That has allowed to the American car to gain and remain at the own category lead for the following twelve hours. Ferrari 575 of the Barron Connor team, Pirelli P Zero equipped, has not caught up the end of the race: after 11 hours and 56' the car of Bosch, Biagi and Sullivan has been withdrawn for problems to the front brakes, while to the dawn, after 16 hours and 13', the other Ferrari parked for troubles to fuel feeding. Pirelli Competizioni had provided its teams with P Zero tyres tested at the recent Le Mans test weekend, and the result was appreciated by Pirelli's drivers: both in the warmth of the daytime and the low temperatures during the night, were offered good adherence and the best consistency of performance.
