Race report after the second round

Magny-Cours, April 27th, 2003 - The second race of the Maserati Trofeo 2003 had took place on the 4,4 km of the renewed Magny-Cours circuit, after a terrific qualifying session during which the stormy weather made the circuit completely flooded.

On this race of the Maserati Trofeo drivers were more separated in the qualifying session: differences on capability are coming out.
An Italian driver, Emanuele Smurra, won this second race after twenty five hard laps: the young driver was classified ahead of Alberto Cerrai (Italy) and Albert Thurn und Taxis (Germany) in the final order.
However, first across the finish line was Vittorio Colombo (Italy,) who was later excluded by the race steward. In any case, the victory was entirely merited in a very hard battle, during which cars and tyres weren't saved at all: seven cars not classified at the end of the race because some technical problems and accidents.

The weather conditions during the race were better than yesterday, without rain but with a strong wind and low asphalt temperature.
Pirelli provided at all the cars the latest versions of the PZero tyres for dry asphalt, specifically developed for the Maserati Trofeo in a long testing period.
