Maserati Trophy: race five at the Silverstone Circuit

Saturday 19th July and Sunday 20th, the fifth race of the 2003 Maserati Trophy will take place in Great Britain at the legendary Silverstone Circuit, considered in the past as the temple of speed.
This fame receded a little in recent years because of modifications to the track to make it safer for drivers, many chicanes having been inserted to slow down the circuit. Fortunately, the original scheme of the track has not completely disappeared, also thanks to Formula One driver Damon Hills supervision on the tracks alterations.

The track remains a difficult one to race, mainly due to the number of fast curves it includes to run in full fifth gear. The Stowe curve, for example, is famous because it tests to the limit the mechanics of the car and the grip of tyres, as well as driver ability.

After four rounds, the Italian driver Emanuele Smurra is leading with confidence the Maserati Trophy classification with 86 points, at thirty four points of advantage from the second placed Alberto Cerrai and thirty seven points from the Swiss Vincenzo Tirella.

After more than a month of absence from the circuits, gentlemen drivers and twenty six Maserati Trofeo fitted with specially developed Pirelli P Zero racing tyres, are ready to compete on this historic circuit. Silverstone's Maserati Trophy this week end will be the main attraction between the events that will accompany the British Formula One Grand Prix, so for the spectators attending, a double dramatic show is assured!
