Maserati Trophy: race report after the third round
The race, run on a dry surface, saw the second consecutive
victory of the Italian driver Emanuele Smurra. Thanks to this
result, he is leading the championship with 61 points, 9 points
ahead of second placed Alberto Cerrai.
During the first part of the race an accident between De Megni and
Bozzetto brought out the safety car, " packing" the group together
in tight formation: Alessi, Smurra, Cerrai, Tirella, and
Coldani.
Alessi failed to make a penalty drive through, endured because he
crossed the white line at the exit of the boxes, and was
disqualified from the race. Thanks to this black flag, Smurra moved
into first position and won the race after a very hard fight.
Although a super smooth track, the drivers declared their
satisfaction with the good performances in grip and duration of the
Pirelli PZero racing tyres.
Next race: Lausitzring Grand Prix, June 7th - 8th
