Maserati Trophy: race three at the Nürburgring Circuit
Milan, May 20th, 2003 - Saturday 24th May and Sunday 25th, the
third race of the 2003 Maserati Trophy will take place in Germany
at the mythical Nrburgring Circuit.
This track, inaugurated in 1927, has a long history of all kinds of motor races, in recent years being modified and shortened to render it more safe. The original circuit, where Pirelli and Maserati were together protagonists during the pioneering years, was 22,810 km long with 173 curves which formed the Nordschleife, the track that made the bravery of the top drivers really stand out.
For driver safety reasons today there is a new track, which hosts the Europe Formula One Grand Prix every year, made up of short straights, chicanes and relatively slow curves.
After two round, the Swiss driver Vincenzo Tirella is leading the Maserati Trophy with 38 points, at only two points of advantage from the second placed Cerrai and Smurra. After a month of absence from the circuits, gentlemen drivers and twenty six Maserati Trofeo fitted with specially developed Pirelli PZero racing tyres, are ready to compete on this historic circuit. For the spectators attending, a dramatic show is assured!
