Media Invitation: Ken Block to announce new challenge with Pirelli at Montreal

On Sunday morning before the Canadian Grand Prix, ‘Gymkhana’ legend Ken Block will announce his super-secret plan to take on an all-new challenge with Pirelli. “This announcement is going to be big,” said Block. “I’ve worked with Pirelli on some of my previous projects like Gymkhana THREE and the DiRT3 videogame. Plus, as you can imagine, I’m going to need a lot of P Zero tyres from them for Gymkhana FOUR, which I’ve just started working on. But, after this coming weekend, the fans are going to fully understand why this announcement is so big. What I’m going to be doing with Pirelli is something that I’ve never done before and I’m really stoked about actually getting to do it!” Ken Block will announce his new project, together with Pirelli’s Motorsport Director Paul Hembery, at 0930 on Sunday morning before the Canadian Grand Prix. The media meeting will take place at the Pirelli Terrasse, just outside the paddock entrance at the end of the rowing lake. To reach the venue from the paddock, leave by the turnstiles next to the media centre and walk straight down to the end of the lake: it takes less than five minutes. Note to editors: Block and his Monster World Rally Team are at the forefront of the World Rally Championship this season in the all-new Monster Energy Ford Fiesta RS WRC, and are committed to competing in the Summer X Games and Gymkhana GRID in the United States later in the year. The American has achieved great success with his apparel company, DC Shoes, the launch of his vaunted DiRT3 video game, his viral Gymkhana series of videos on YouTube, as well as becoming one of the most famous rally drivers of all time. A Pirelli Partner since 2010, Block’s Fiestas are fitted with Pirelli rally or street tyres, depending on the event. Pirelli Tire North America designs, develops, manufactures and markets tyres for passenger vehicles in both the original equipment and replacement markets as well as markets and distributes tires for motorcycles and motorsports. Located in Rome, Georgia, Pirelli’s Modular Integrated Robotized System (MIRS) employs state-of-the-art technology to manufacture tires for both export and domestic markets.
