MOTOCROSS of NATIONS FRANCE 17 / 18 SEPTEMBER

The 65th Motocross of Nations saw the twenty-second victory scored by the USA in beating France and Australia and thanks to category wins taken by Ryan Dungey (MX1) and Ryan Villopoto (Open). The third member of the team, Blake Baggett, was fourth in MX2. In the traditional season-closing team event Pirelli Scorpion MX made the podium thanks to Frenchman Gautier Paulin and Christophe Pourcel, 2nd in the MX Open class and 13th in MX1 respectively, despite a rear wheel problem that caused the latter’s retirement in the third moto. The public cheered on the third member of the team Marvin Musquin while the Australian Matt Moss finished the first moto to help his country but couldn’t take to the gate of the second with a technical problem. The main protagonist with Pirelli was world champion Ken Roczen with second and fourth places for first position overall in MX2 with the factory KTM booted (like other Pirelli riders) with Scorpion MidSoft 32 front and rear. After second place in qualification Team Italy could rise no higher than 16th due to crashes by Alex Lupino and Antonio Cairoli; the latter suffering a fracture to his left scaphoid. The only Italian to classify was Davide Guarneri with 5th in MX Open. Final Classification:

1. USA p. 26
2. France p. 39
3. Australia p. 44
4. Great Britain p. 46
5. Belgium p. 54
