New contract in Tunisia.

Milan, January 3rd 2001 - Pirelli Cables and Systems has been awarded an ITL 78 billion contract by STEG, the Tunisian Electricity Board, for the supply and installation of a High Voltage turn-key interconnection system linking the main power substations of the Tunis area. The project involves overall project management, supply and installation of XLPE (Cross-Linked Polyethylene) cables and accessories transmitting at a voltage of 90,000 Volts. The cables of this project, that is going to prosecute with a new contract during the year, will be delivered starting first quarter 2001. The new contract with STEG is a further demonstration of Pirelli's leadership in the Maghreb region where, in the recent years, the Group's Energy division has installed cables and systems for a total worth of over 160 billion liras.
