P Zero™, top performance for Porsche

Pirelli consolidates its premium strategy and confirms its position as a leading partner to the most prestigious car manufacturers, being the only tyre manufacturer with approvals on the latest Porsche (Carrera 911 and Boxster/Cayman) with tyre fitment in 20”. In particular, for the new Carrera, Pirelli has developed a pair of tyres that accentuates the sporty features of the vehicle, ensuring top performance without sacrificing comfort and driving enjoyment. Porsche Carrera 911 is fitted with P Zero in sizes 245/35ZR20 for front and 295/30ZR20 for rear (in the next future also in 305/30ZR20 for the Carrera 4/4S versions). Porsche Carrera 911 is fitted with P Zero™ in sizes 245/35ZR20 for front and 295/30ZR20 for rear (in the next future also in 305/30ZR20 for the Turbo version). Pirelli engineers have come up with a specific solution that regards compounds, tread and structure, thus allowing the tyres to balance the weight of the vehicle with the development of two different compounds, one for the front and one for the rear. The latest tread compounds were specially designed for the new Porsche 911, the rear features Kevlar, a synthetic fibre offering excellent heat resistance and elasticity, whose longitudinal action allows the tyre to react to thermal stress: the rear tyre therefore guarantees maximum side grip, excellent stability at high speed and greater precision when driving, thus eliminating the risk of oversteer or degradation of the tyre itself. On the other hand, the front tyre compound contains special latest generation nanocomposites whose longitudinal and side action provide excellent grip and a marked improvement in cornering and lateral thrust even in the case of extreme “lateral g” effort required, close to the grip limit, typical of hard handling maneuver. As concern the new Boxster, the approved tyres are P Zero in sizes 235/35ZR20 for front and 265/35ZR20 for rear. They partially benefit the technological innovation of the tyres developed for Carrera. Furthermore, the new mixing process has brought to a better distribution of the raw materials ensuring improved mileage and better stability of the compounds even in case of extreme use. The P Zero™ homologated by the Stuttgart manufacturer is undergoing continual development as regards both design and the materials utilised. P Zero™ has enabled Pirelli to consolidate its leadership of the top ranges: indeed, the tyre has obtained more than 200 approvals and been chosen by leading car manufacturers to enhance the extreme performance of supercars, whilst offering increasingly higher levels of driving pleasure and safety.
