Pirelli & C.: Carlo De Benedetti resigns from Board

PIRELLI & C: CARLO DE BENEDETTI RESIGNS FROM BOARD FOLLOWING NOMINATION AS CHAIRMAN OF GRUPPO L'ESPRESSO
Milan, 5 May 2006 - Pirelli & C. announces that Mr Carlo De Benedetti, one of Company's independent Board members, has informed the Company of his resignation from the position.

Following his nomination as Chairman of Gruppo Editoriale L'Espresso, Mr De Benedetti has, in fact, signalled his intention to leave all other administrative roles outside the Group which he heads.

The Company wishes to thank Mr De Benedetti for his intelligent and concrete contribution to the Pirelli Group for almost twenty years.
