Pirelli and Porsche win the 24 hours of Dubai endurance race

Land Motorsport with their Pirelli-shod  997GT3Cup lead home a 78 car field.

Dubai - January 14, 2009.  Pirelli opened its 2009 motor sport season in the best possible way with a decisive win in the  24 Hours of Dubai endurance race that took place last weekend.. After 24 hours of racing the Land Motorsport Porsche 997GT3Cup, driven by Gabriel Abergel, Carsen Tilke, Niclas Kenberich and Andzej Dzikevic led home the other 58 finishers with a winning margin of half a lap.

Paul Hembery, Pirelli Director of Motorsport, commented 'This is a particularly satisfying way to start the GT season since the Dubai event was the first event for our new range of customer racing tyres. For  2009 we are offering customers around the world the same range of tyres rather than distinguishing between so-called 'standard' and 'development' tyres as many of our competitors still do. The level of competitiveness of these new tyres is amply demonstrated by this victory'.
