Pirelli clinches Italian Rally Championship for manufacturers

Paolo Andreucci and the Peugeot 208 T16 R5

Pirelli has claimed the final trophy that is missing from its Italian Rally Championship collection this year, with the Pirelli-equipped Peugeot Italia squad clinching its domestic manufacturers’ title. A podium place from nine-time Italian champion Paolo Andreucci on the all-asphalt Rally Due Valli – the final round of the series – was enough for Pirelli to clinch its 11th title on this year’s Italian series, considering all the different classes. For Peugeot Italia, it was a ninth Italian manufacturers’ title, and the second one with the 208 T16 R5. Pirelli’s product manager Terenzio Testoni commented: “Having won all the titles available in the Italian Rally Championship is a fantastic achievement which shows how Pirelli tyres have proved to be successful on all sorts of different surfaces and different types of car. This resounding success has come with tyres that have been created to meet the latest FIA regulations, as well as with previous generation products. These victories underline Pirelli’s fundamental philosophy of offering the best possible services and products to every driver at every level. We’d like to thank our clients for their loyalty and for the results that they have brought us: the source of our motivation to do even better in rallying in future.”
