Pirelli dominates in GT3 in first Round of FIA GT Championship

Pirelli's limited participation in this year's FIA GT championship, supporting only two Porsche GT3 teams in a small development project, got off to a dream start at the opening round in Monza on Sunday.
Running first and second in GT3 for much of the race, the Pirelli-shod cars finished 1st and 4th, the second placed car only losing position in the final moments due to a 10 second "stop and go" penalty for an indicretion at the 'Prima Variante' chicane.
Intended as a "shop window" for racing products which Pirelli is intending to market in 2002, the FIA GT 2001 project could not have started better, since also in the wet free practice sessions on the Friday, Pirelli's new tyres again held fastest and 2nd fastest times.
