Pirelli is "SET UP" for success at Mosport

Fast Times are the Order of the day Bowmanville, Ontario, Canada, August 6, 2004 - Following 90 minutes of practice for Sundays running of the Toronto Grand Prix of Mosport, Terry Borcheller, who shares the Pirelli-shod ACEMCO S7R with Johnny Mowlem commented enthusiastically, The car was well set up. It was very raceable. The crew worked on lowering the car for better aero and the combination of set up and Pirelli rubber made for a very balanced package. Team owner, Jeff Giangrande added, The boys were consistently turning laps in the 1 minute 15 second range, which would be a good race pace. We ran the same Pirellis for the entire session and they worked very consistently. Mosport is a smooth track with a lot of fast flowing corners, Giangrande added. The Saleen S7R is really well suited to these conditions and we are looking forward to qualifying tomorrow and Sundays race. Over in the Risi Competizione paddock analyzed the results of an open test session on Tuesday and todays practice in the teams Pirelli-sponsored Ferrari Modena 360 GTC. We had a very good test on Tuesday, Anthony said. We started out running our current tire and working on set up. Toward the end of the day we ran a few laps on the new Pirelli well be racing here this weekend and we were immediately quicker. Today the air and track temperatures were a lot cooler than on Tuesday, Lazzaro continued, and it looks like this weather will stick around all weekend, so we worked on balancing the car for these cooler conditions. The new Pirelli felt really good when we went out on the tires toward the end of the session, but, unfortunately, an exhaust header broke so we never got a good time on the new tire. We know its faster and well just have to work on finalizing our race set up during the two practice sessions tomorrow. Meanwhile, the Pirelli-shod Intersport Racing Lola/Judd P2 of Clint Field and Robin Liddell keeps racking up fast times. After todays test sessions, the Intersport entry was 5 th fastest overall, nearly three seconds faster and four places ahead of the next quickest P2. Following three races in which the Panoz Esperante suffered various mechanical ailments, the GT-LM is back on the form that saw the Panoz Motor Sports entry of Gunnar Jeannette and David Saelens qualify 2 nd in GT at Mid-Ohio. Concentrating strictly on chassis set up, the car placed 6 th in GT during todays practice sessions without benefit of a new softer compound Pirelli tire, which should provide additional improvement to their already good pace tomorrow.
