Pirelli podiums at Sonoma

Sonoma (CA), July 27th, 2003 - Pirelli scored its first podium in the third round of the American Le Mans (ALMS) season at the Infineon Grand Prix of Sonoma today.

Steady but sure was the strategy for the Atlanta-based Essex Racing team of Jason Workman and Sonoma native Dave McEntee as they drove their Lola B2K/40/Nissan to third-place in the Prototype 675 class and their first ALMS podium of the year.

In the GTS and GT classes, mechanical gremlins plagued the top Pirelli teams as both Carsport Vipers, both JMB Ferraris, the #60 PK Sport Porsche and the #03 Hyper Sport Panoz Esperante all were forced out of the race.

Fourth round of the ALMS is scheduled for this coming Sunday, August 6, at Le Grand Prix de Trois-Rivieres in Quebec, Canada. Speed Channel and Eurosport will televise the 2-hour, 45-minute race through the streets of Trois-Rivieres.
