Pirelli Presents The 2005 Cal and the New Pzero Campaign at Tony
Shafrazi Gallery in New York
New York , 10 February 2005 - Pirelli has chosen the prestigious Tony Shafrazi Gallery in New York as the venue for unveiling the 2005 Pirelli Calendar, the PZero ad campaign shot by Patrick Demarchelier and the autumn/winter 2005-06 fashion collection.
The guest of honor will be Patrick Demarchelier, many-sided artist with multiple expressive talents, who in this year of collaboration with Pirelli has signed two quite different artistic products: the 2005 Pirelli Calendar and the PZero advertising campaign, which will be premiered during the New York evening.
The event will be held in the Tony Shafrazi Gallery, one of Gotham 's most famous art galleries, designed by architects Gluckman and Mayner.
The list of invited guests for the evening is long and heterogeneous, including leading figures from the political world, like the Kennedy family, and finance, like Donald Trump, along with fashion and entertainment personalities like Jennifer Lopez, George Clooney, Madonna and Brad Pitt.
The godparents of the evening will be Naomi Campbell and Tyson Beckford , whom Demarchelier has declared "the world's most beautiful couple".
The exposition is part of the official calendar of events of " New York Fashion Week" and will be open to the public until 12 February.
The photos of the 2005 Pirelli Calendar represent 21 portraits in which the subjects are immersed in spectacular, luminous settings, creating fluid images perfectly integrated into the surrounding ambience. Magnificent Rio de Janeiro , with its famed Copacabana and Ipanema beaches and luscious vegetation, forms the backdrop for the 12 featured subjects of this year's calendar.
From the sunny, luminous context of Brazil , the focus then shifts to the rigor of the Pin Up photographic studio in Paris , where the photographer was able to develop his high-level technique.
The six photos of the advertising campaign capture Naomi Campbell in a totally original version completely au naturel , and Tyson Beckford, 30-year-old American model with Jamaican origins, in plastic, athletic poses.
Human sculptures that recall the beauty, elegance and classicality of Greek statues. The perfect bodies and the products of the PZero line are the unchallenged protagonists. Two opposites that attract: the natural, sensual beauty of the human body and the advanced technology of the industrial fashion design signed Pirelli PZero.
