Pirelli: sport and spectacle at the Bologna Motor Show

Pirelli will be the star of the 32nd Bologna Motor Show with the Pirelli Champions Cup, a series of thrilling motor sport encounters culminating in one of the most important events of the entire show: the Bettega Memorial Rallysprint.

Pirelli PZero tyres will also be at the forefront on the most exciting stands of the show, where they will appear on several supercars such as the Lamborghini Reventòn, Ferrari 430 Scuderia, Bentley Brooklands and Maserati Quattroporte Sport GT S.


Milano, 7 December 2007 - Pirelli will be at the heart of the action during the Bologna Motor Show, which opens on Friday 7 December. The Italian rubber will be on track at all the most significant races that form part of the Motor Show programme.

The Pirelli Champions Cup, which is being run for the second time this year, will open the entire show on Friday. Pirelli will adopt the tried and trusted and formula used last year, which matches rally, racing and motorbike stars to decide who will earn the title of "Pirelli Champion of Champions". These drivers will go against each other in racing cars - the Maserati GranSport Trofeo - as well as Group N Mitsubishi Lancer Evo IXs prepared by Mauro Rally Tuning.

Pirelli tyres will also be protagonists of the other races on the programme such as the Ferrari Challenge, the Boomb Boogie GT Challenge (using cars from the Italian GT Championship) and the Trofeo Superstars, with Audi RS4 and BMW M5 and 550i saloon cars running on PZero Racing rubber. Historic racing cars will be represented by the Pirelli Historic Challenge and the Emilio Lanzoni Memorial Pirelli Historic Parade. Rally action comes in the form of the Mitsubishi Evo Cup and Colt Cup, the Trofeo GT Rally, the Super 1600 Challenge and the Trofeo WRC Italia.

The Pirelli Historic Rally Show is sure to be a big draw, featuring classic rally cars from the legendary era of the 1970s and 1980s. Another star attraction will be the Barclaycard Coppa Dante Salvay and finally there is the Bettega Memorial Rallysprint: the star attraction of the weekend.
