Pirelli Teams Star in Opening Round Fia Gt Championship

2nd Overall And 1st,2nd,3rd,4th,5th,And 6th In Ngt Class!

Pirelli made an astounding return to the European sports car racing scene, Sunday, repeating the 'double podium' finish achieved in the American Le Mans Series at Sebring.

But for a contentious 'stop and go' penalty imposed by the authorites, the Carsport Holland/Racing Box Chrysler Viper of Hezemans/Kumpen would almost certainly have taken the overall victory spoils; as it was they recovered to 2nd behind the very fast Lister Jaguar and decisevely ahead of the crack all-French Labre Viper team. Also Pirelli shod, the Team Belmondo Viper of Babini/Duez featured at the front of the race in its early stages but crashed following an unlucky differential failure.

In the NGT class Pirelli and Ferrari with the JMB team 360GT driven by Montermini/Pescatori proved invincible, leading home a train of Pirelli shod Ferraris and Porsches who completely eliminated the competition from the top 6 results of the 3 hour race; a convincing demonstration of both the pace and consistency of the Pirelli tyres.
