Pirelli unveils third generation Winter Sottozero

Safety, mileage and grip under all winter conditions. Pirelli introduced the Winter Sottozero 3 premium tyre in Austria to more than 400 dealers from all over Europe. The event held in March in Seefeld and the Kühtai passage was also attended by Pirelli Brand Ambassador, Jean Alesi. The new Winter Sottozero 3 is an ultra high performance tyre capable of enhancing the sporty characteristics of medium/high-powered vehicles as a result of the joint development alongside the most prestigious vehicle manufacturers for whom it has been designed. Winter Sottozero 3 has been tested under the severest winter conditions in Italy, Austria, Sweden, Finland and New Zealand. It features 3D sipes and a broader contact patch for improved snow-on-snow grip. The contour of the new Winter Sottozero 3 has been optimised to guarantee greater mileage thanks to even distribution of the ground pressure. The more rounded shoulder and its large grooves help the tyre to achieve faster water displacement. Furthermore, Pirelli laboratories have developed an innovative compound with functional polymers that improves the Sottozero 3’s performance characteristics, e.g. road handling, even on wet or icy surfaces, for optimum drivability. For the winter of 2013-2014, the Winter Sottozero 3 range will be available worldwide in 16" to 21" rim diameters and 11 run-flat versions.
