Pirelli working on wet weather tyre development at Fiorano
Another Pirelli test session dedicated to 2026 tyre development got underway today at the Fiorano circuit. Working with Scuderia Ferrari HP, the Pirelli engineers carried out a comparison of various intermediate and extreme wet prototype tyres, making the most of the artificial irrigation system available at Ferrari’s private track.
Guanyu Zhou was at the wheel of an SF-25, modified to accommodate the dimensions of the 2026 tyres. The Chinese driver completed 159 laps. His best time of all was a 59”820, set on dry weather tyres while preparing for the day’s work. His best time around the 2.976 kilometre track on intermediate tyres was a 1’07”400.
Testing continues at this track tomorrow, when Charles Leclerc will be at the wheel.
