Porsche and Pirelli together again with the new Panamera

The technology partnership between Pirelli and Porsche is renewed with the much-awaited Panamera sportscar, which will feature Pirelli tyres both in Summer and in Winter: PZero, the ultra high performance tyre, in the mild season and Winter Sottozero Series II, the UHP tyre appropriate for even the most insidious surfaces in the October-March season. (Attached 1)

P Zero is the ultra high performance tyre created by Pirelli to guarantee maximum performance to the most demanding drivers in terms of sports execution, safety and comfort. This special tyre has obtained 9 victories out of 10 in the most severe and prestigious international tests in 2008 and 2009. (Attached 2)

Winter Sottozero Series II is the Pirelli winter tyre par excellence. It is designed to guarantee extreme performance in difficult weather conditions and, in particular, in the presence of wet asphalt and minimal outdoor temperatures.

Attached 1 - Pirelli P Zero Family

The P Zero collection, which this year includes a new product for super sports cars, is Pirelli's Ultra High Performance family developed for the more performing cars and for the most demanding drivers, who seek driving pleasure together with safety.
Created in 1987, the P Zero family dominates the high end segment, in which Pirelli is the recognised world leader. Comfort, high performance and reliability are the features of the P Zero product, the favourite original equipment tyres for the top models from Ferrari, Lamborghini, Audi, Aston Martin, Maserati, Bentley, Jaguar, Mercedes, Alfa Romeo, Porsche and BMW, with whom Pirelli has always worked.

The P Zero series (launched in 2007) includes the P Zero Nero, the P Zero Rosso, for normal sports cars, and the P Zero Corsa System, for the even faster racing type cars. P Zero is also one of the tyres developed by Pirelli for the 2009 world rally championships, for which the Milan company is the exclusive supplier until 2010. Not by chance, the production of tyres deriving from experience on the race tracks and the competition field is the element that characterises all the P Zero products.

P Zero. The most recent of the family, which in less than one year has become a reference point for the most performing sports cars. The new P Zero is the most technologically advanced product of Pirelli research, and offers the most demanding drivers performances without precedence from all aspects: performance, comfort and safety, thanks to a range of innovative solutions developed by Pirelli and protected by 5 exclusive patents. With an innovative tread pattern, futuristic compounds and a renewed structure.

P Zero Rosso. An Ultra High Performance tyre designed to combine fast driving performance with low noise thanks to the asymmetric design with wide longitudinal grooves and a tread divided laterally into three separate elements, each conceived to confer particular performance features.

P Zero Nero. A tyre with an asymmetrical tread which can guarantee maximum driving safety in every situation, ensuring excellent grip on dry and wet roads, excellent handling, high resistance to aquaplaning and maximum efficiency when braking.

P Zero Corsa. The sports model of the P Zero family, designed with two different treads: asymmetrical and directional. The total adherence on curves, in acceleration and braking make this particularly suitable for the race track, as well as on roads in extreme driving conditions.

Attached 2 - Winter Sottozero II

Safety and performance on all roads and in all weather conditions typical of the cold season, without neglecting respect for the environment and reduced consumption.  These are the features of the new seasonal Pirelli tyre family, which was extended last year with the Winter Sottozero Series II and to which a new entry will also be added this year, in pursuit of continually updating the product range in order to satisfy the increasingly more segmented and challenging requests of motorists and of car manufacturers.

Winter Sottozero Series II, in particular, is the high performance winter tyre developed to cater for the needs of the more demanding drivers, which can detect and adapt to all road conditions typical of the autumn and winter months. The features of the new Pirelli tyre are safety and respect for the environment, thanks to the combination of many technological innovations, which can guarantee fast driving and reliability not only on snow or ice, but also on roads that are wet, muddy, slippery or just extremely cold, typical of the winter season.

Two versions with record approval. The new Pirelli winter tyre represents the evolution of the Winter Sottozero, which has already enjoyed 5 years of success on the European market, and has been produced in two different versions according to the speed of the cars: the W210/W240 version for high performance cars, and the even more extreme W270, designed for super sports models. Porsche, Maserati, Lamborghini, Ferrari, BMW, Bentley, Aston Martin and Alfa Romeo have already chosen the new Pirelli winter tyre, approving it as original equipment.

The intelligent tread that adapts to the road. The two versions of the Winter Sottozero Series II have many technological innovations in common, some patented, which distinguish them as a family of products that can revolutionise the traditional meaning of a winter tyre: no longer a snow tyre, but a seasonal tyre, suitable for all weather and road conditions found from October to April throughout Europe. The compounds are innovative: eco-friendly, being free of aromatic oils and with a reduced content of heavy metals, and versatile since they combine and optimize the features of compounds for both wet and icy roads, to give improved performance on wet surfaces at all normal winter temperatures, i.e. below 7°C.
The structure is also innovative: it reproduces in a winter tyre the performance features typical of the P Zero Pirelli, the tyre with extremely high performance chosen by all the main car builders in the world for their sports cars and for their more recent models.
The tread pattern is innovative, too: it allows the tyre to adapt to the road and to ensure safety and pleasant driving in all conditions, thanks to a system of indentations and a design composed of mobile blocks, like small bricks, which move and grip on the diverse road surfaces. With Winter Sottozero Series II, the phenomenon of aquaplaning is reduced and traction, lateral grip and hold when braking are significantly increased.
