Press release victory in the Pharaho's Rally 2006

AN IVECO ON PIRELLI PS22 ROAD TYRES TRIUMPHS AGAIN IN THE PHARAOH'S RALLY

Normal production PS22 tyres on Giacomo Vismara's Iveco Eurotrakker
(Team Motorsport Italia) repeat their success of a year ago in Egypt.

Milan, 12 October 2006 - Exactly a year after their brilliant victory in the Pharaoh's Rally with a Team Overlock Mercedes-Benz Unimog U500, Pirelli's PS22 standard truck tyres have repeated their performance with an extraordinary win in the Egyptian marathon.

Fitted to an Iveco Eurotrakker driven by specialist Giacomo Vismara, the normal production Pirelli PS22s, which are mounted on Italian vehicles in size 14.00 R20, made the difference on a wide range of varying surfaces in the 2006 Pharaoh's Rally, one of the best known and most demanding desert races in the rally-raid category. It is run over surfaces packed with danger, where stones, expanses of sand and hard unmade tracts alternate.

Those hazardous and unpredictable conditions confirmed the qualities of the Pirelli PS22, a product that has also earned the trust of the German Army, which has requested the tyre for their vehicles. Last summer, Pirelli PS22s also won the much faster Baja Aragon in Spain.

Vismara's class win on the road going Pirelli tyres in this year's Egyptian race is that much more creditable, because his Iveco Eurotrakker won six of the seven stages and he set the fifth fastest time of all on one of them. That performance enabled the Team Motorsport Italia Eurotrakker to finish the 2006 Rally of the Pharaohs in 11th place overall. The expert Italian driver competed in the Egyptian event as a "dress rehearsal" before taking part in the famous "Dakar " raid in 2007.
