PZero reinterprets the male wardrobe
Urban, leisure and biker are the three main themes behind the autumn/winter 2013/2014 collection that Pirelli PZero introduced at the 83rd Pitti Moda Uomo in Florence. Once again, PZero capitalises on and develops the values of the Pirelli brand: high technology and stability, strength and innovation, but also the ability to provoke excitement. The collection for this coming autumn/winter reinterprets the iconic items of the male wardrobe with the addition of technical details and materials to allow for more functional, energetic and contemporary use. High-performance materials, laminated fabrics and Lycra trims are expertly mixed with wool and flannel. Reversible jackets, puffer jackets with heat-sealed seams that can be folded away into an inside pocket, padded micro-ripstop shirts with quilted shoulder yokes and biker’s leather jackets are among the new collection’s most representative items. Turning to footwear, of particular interest are the new soles based on the Scorpion tyre tread pattern whose print depicts an oval circuit and screech marks. The range includes more outdoor styles such as the technical, ergonomic Rain Performance shoe, a microfibre, ballistic nylon and Cordura ankle boot and side-zip biker boots. The booth set up at the Fortezza da Basso in Florence also mirrors the world of Pirelli with references to cars and motorsport and a hint of industry. Indeed, several work benches were laid out to display the materials used to produce Pirelli soles.
