Six WRC cars on Pirelli

SIX WRC CARS ON PIRELLI IN THE RALLY OF TURKEY
Three Ford Focus on Pirelli P Zero tyres, as well as three Subaru Imprezas.
The Turkish rally will be an extremely demanding and faster race Cyprus.

Milan, 10 October 2006 - Less than twenty days after the extremely tough Cyprus Rally, the Subaru Imprezas on their Pirelli P Zeros will be back competing in another Mediterranean country in an event similar to the Cypriot race. From Friday, Petter Solberg and Chris Atkinson in factory Impreza WRC06s and local ace Ercan Kazaz in a privately entered Subaru WRC05 will take on the Rally of Turkey, 13th round in the World Championship.

As in Cyprus, the Turkish special stages will also be of savage loose surfaces as far as the crews, cars and tyres are concerned. But the Turkish rally's timed sections will be much faster. In line with the regulations, the teams have been able to select two different types of tread to use during the rally, which will take place in the country's Antalya area.

Of the Subaru World Rally Team cars on Pirelli tyres, Mario Isola, Rally Manager of Pirelli Competizioni, said, "KP and XR Pirelli P Zeros have been chosen and they will be available in an ample range of tread compounds. Due to its greater lateral grip and high degree of handling, the KP should be the tyre most in use by the teams supported by Pirelli Competizioni. The cooler temperatures forecast for Turkey are another reason for preferring this tyre, which works much better when the heat is not as oppressive as it was in Cyprus".

As well as the Subaru WRCs, Pirelli Competizioni will also provide tyres and service for three Ford Focus WRCs, which will be driven in the Turkish event by local crews.
