The compound selection for Austin, Mexico City and São Paulo
Pirelli has announced the compound selections to the teams for the upcoming triple-header in the Americas. For the United States Grand Prix in Austin (23-25 October), the compounds will be C2 as Hard, C3 as Medium and C4 as Soft. For the Mexico City Grand Prix (30 October - 1 November) and the São Paulo Grand Prix (6-8 November), the softest trio in the range has been selected: C3 as Hard, C4 as Medium and C5 as Soft.
Both Austin and Mexico City saw an attempt last year to make a bigger step on the Hard compound. In Austin, the C1 was nominated as the white-marked tyre, while in Mexico the C2 was chosen, with Medium and Soft remaining the same as this year's selection. However, the teams opted to make extensive use of the two softer options rather than trying to save a pit stop by running the Hard.
This year's selection for São Paulo is softer than in 2025 when, once again, the Hard saw little use in the race, with teams favouring two-stop strategies based around the Medium and Soft compounds. The softest trio could significantly broaden the range of strategic options available to teams at Interlagos, encouraging scenarios in which all three compounds are used during the race.
