The third generation of Winter Sottozero is released

Pirelli has extended its range of winter premium products with Winter Sottozero 3, the ultra high performance tyre that enhances the sporty characteristics of premium-segment cars and medium/high-powered vehicles for which it is designed. The Winter Sottozero 3 has been jointly developed with the world’s most prestigious vehicle manufacturers and is available as original fitment on the top models of leading car makers such as Lamborghini, Maserati, McLaren and Mercedes AMG. Tested under the most extreme winter conditions, the new Winter Sottozero 3 benefits from innovative 3D sipes to increase block stability and transfer more grip on every surface (including snow). The contact patch has also been enlarged and the tread profile is flattened in the center and rounded in the shoulder, enhancing the tyre’s handling and increasing its racing spirit in both wet and dry conditions. An innovative compound has been developed by Pirelli’s research laboratories for the new Winter Sottozero 3 and thanks to the use of functionalized polymers, road holding is enhanced under all winter conditions (cold & warm snow as well as on wet). The new Pirelli winter tyre has distinguished itself in the tests published by the International Press. In particular, as far as the tests conducted by the German magazine Auto Bild Sportscars are concerned, the Winter Sottozero 3, in size 225/50R17 98V, ranks 1st out of 8 thanks to top performances in wet braking, wet handling, snow traction and rolling resistance. For the 2013-2014 winter season, the Winter Sottozero 3 will be globally available in a wide range of 16 to 21-inch fitments including 11 run-flat sizes.
