Trofeo Maserati and Ferrari Challenge: second round at Spa - Francorchamps

Yesterday was the main day of the "Ferrari Maserati Days" event at Spa-Francorchamps, with over 300 Prancing Horse and Trident marque cars taking part, with both race and road cars. On the sporting front, there were races counting towards the European Trofeo Maserati series and the Ferrari Challenge Pirelli Trophy at the second round of their seasons. The Trofeo Maserati, for cars Pirelli PZero equipped based on the road going Coupe Cambiocorsa, was won by Alberto Cerrari. He crossed the line ahead of fellow Roman Andrea Palma, who had won the opening round in Vallelunga (Italy) and the crew of Notter/Cattori. The Belgians, Vanina Ickx, daughter of Jacky whose great race record is closely linked to Ferrari and Didier Radigues, who made the move from two wheels to four, made up the special guest crew here. Their race was affected by an extra unplanned pit stop while they were in the running for a podium finish. Fourth, fifth and sixth places were closely contested, and they went to Sergio Rota, Ravasio/Alessi and Marco Lambertini respectively. Palma therefore extends his lead in the overall classification on 45 points, ahead of Cerrari on 38 and Notter/Cattori on 36. Because she was on her home track, Vanina Ickx also took part in the race for Ferrari 360 Challenge cars, winning Race 1, heading home Louis Machiels and Michael Cullen. Victory in Race 2 went to Ange Barde, with Vanina Ickx once again making it to the podium in second place this time and Cullen taking another third. Barde increases his lead in the Pirelli Trophy classification.
