Tim Gajser grabs the title in MX1 and SUPERCAMPIONE. Cornelius Tondel is crowned champion in MX2.

The paddock observed a minute of silence to remember Vincenzo Lombardo, motocross champion of the 90’s and tester for Pirelli off road tyre range

The Internazionali d'Italia Motocross PRO series officially started the 2022 motocross season. The two races, held on the sandy tracks of Alghero and Riola Sardo in Sardinia, were full of satisfaction for Pirelli who placed its riders in the first positions in each class.

In the Alghero inaugural round, the Italian factory monopolized the final podiums of MX1, MX2, Supecampione and 125. Jeremy Seewer won in MX1 ahead of Tim Gajser and Ruben Fernandez. Fourth and fifth place belong to Alberto Forato and Christophe Charlier. Jago Geerts dominated in MX2 ahead of the Norwegian duo formed by Cornelius Toendel and Hakon Fredriksen. Excellent placings also for Simon Langerfelder, Mattia Guadagnini, Nicolas Lapucci and Andrea Adamo who got the overall top seven. Tim Gajser won the Supercampione final, raced by the top twenty MX1 / MX2 riders, after a long fight with Jeremy Seewer. Excellent third place for Jago Geerts, who finish on box aboard his 250F. In 125 the overall victory belong to Ivan Van Erp. Cas Valk was second and Ferruccio Zanchi third.

Pirelli on top also in the final round. Tim Gajser won the MX1 race ahead of Jorge Prado, in his debut aboard the GasGas, and Jeremy Van Horebeek with Alberto Forato fourth. In the MX2 class victory for Cornelius Tondel who preceded Simon Langenfelder. Third step of the podium for Hakon Osterhagen just in front of Nicolas Lapucci, Hakon Fredriksen and Mattia Guadagnini. Tim Gajser also won the Supercampione ahead of Jorge Prado and Cornelius Tondel. Double victory for Cas Valk who won the 125 class ahead of Ferruccio Zanchi.

Thanks to his results Tim Gajser won the title in the MX1 and Supercampione while Cornelius Tondel took the MX2. Cas Valk is the new 125 champion.

In Riola Sardo, before the start of the 125 class, the entire paddock of the Internazionali d'Italia Motocross stopped to observe a minute of silence in memory of Vincenzo Lombardo, motocross champion of the 90’s and for many years tyre tester for Pirelli. In his palmares 14 Supermarecross titles, 2 Enduro titles and more recently several vintage Motocross trophies. In addition to the minute of silence observed in Riola Sardo there are numerous messages of support from the Italian Motorcycle Federation, from riders and professionals of the motorcycle industry.

Yesterday the Lacapelle-Marival international classic was held in France; in the MX2 class victory for Kay De Wolf; in the MX1 victory for Maxime Renaux, both equipped with Pirelli tyres.

In two weeks time, riders and teams will be involved in the inaugural round of the 2022 FIM Motocross World Championship which will be hosted by the Matterley Basin circuit in England.
