Heart-stopping races for the WorldSBK Tissot Czech Round in Most: Toprak triumphs in WorldSBK, Odendaal in WorldSSP and KTM rider Steeman in WorldSSP300

In WorldSBK Toprak Razgatlioglu wins Race 1 to reduce the gap behind Rea in the championship standings, front A0508 development solution popular with most of the riders.

In WorldSSP300 the Austrian manufacturer is back on the top step of the podium with Steeman for the first time since Assen 2018.

The first day of races has just ended for the WorldSBK Tissot Czech Round, held for the first time on the Most circuit, resulting in races chock full of upsets and surprises. In WorldSBK Race 1, it was Toprak Razgatlioglu (Pata Yamaha with BRIXX WorldSBK / Yamaha YZF R1) who walked away with the win after a heart-stopping finale, followed by Scott Redding (ARUBA.IT Racing - Ducati / Ducati Panigale V4 R) and Andrea Locatelli (Pata Yamaha with BRIXX WorldSBK / Yamaha YZF R1), who takes home his second podium in a row after Assen. Marvin Fritz with team IXS-YART Yamaha also had a good result, participating in this round as a wild card and closing in point position.

Winning the WorldSSP race was South African rider Steven Odendaal (Evan Bros. WorldSSP Yamaha Team / Yamaha YZF R6), second in the overall championship standings behind Dominique Aegerter (Ten Kate Racing Yamaha / Yamaha YZF R6), followed by Manuel Gonzalez (Yamaha ParkinGo Team / Yamaha YZF R6) and Kawasaki rider Philipp Oettl (Kawasaki Puccetti Racing / Kawasaki ZX-6R). In WorldSSP300, a historic victory went to KTM with Victor Steeman (Freudenberg KTM WorldSSP Team / KTM RC 390 R) finishing on the top step of the podium for the first time since the 2018 Assen round.

Excellent feedback from the riders on the front soft development solution brought by Pirelli, the A0508 specification SC1 (option A), which was then used by most of the riders on the grid for Race 1. Pirelli can be satisfied with the outstanding performance of their development and standard tyres even on this new track, unfamiliar to almost all the riders who had only two practice sessions available on dry asphalt ahead of Race 1.

WorldSBK Race 1:

Toprak Razgatlioglu (Pata Yamaha with BRIXX WorldSBK / Yamaha YZF R1) started well from the second spot on the grid, followed closely by reigning World Champion Jonathan Rea (Kawasaki Racing Team WorldSBK / Kawasaki ZX-10RR) and Ducati rider Scott Redding (ARUBA.IT Racing - Ducati / Ducati Panigale V4 R) to form the leading trio contending for the top step of the podium with back-and-forth overtaking. Following at a two-second gap were Michael Ruben Rinaldi (ARUBA.IT Racing - Ducati / Ducati Panigale V4 R) and Andrea Locatelli (Pata Yamaha with BRIXX WorldSBK / Yamaha YZF R1) battling it out for fourth. Redding moved into the lead and began to pull away from the other two rivals who gave viewers a spectacular head-to-head battle for several laps as they battled for the second step of the podium. At the mid-race point, Turkish rider Razgatlioglu managed to gain the upper hand against Rea, moving into second position, and in the meantime, Jonathan Rea crashed at the end of the straight, re-entering the race in eleventh place behind German rider Marvin Fritz (IXS-YART Yamaha / Yamaha YZF R1), a wild card for this round. At this point, Andrea Locatelli was in a podium position, whereas three seconds behind him Rinaldi, Axel Bassani (Motocorsa Racing / Ducati Panigale V4 R) and Garrett Gerloff (GRT Yamaha WorldSBK Team / Yamaha YZF R1) were in a heated battle for fourth. Thanks to an outstanding pace, Toprak managed to give Redding a run for his money, with the two riders giving fans an electrifying last lap and a heart-stopping finale. Razgatlioglu finished first just four hundredths of a second ahead of Redding, with Andrea Locatelli third.
