Hungarian debut for the Pirelli SCX for Moto2™ riders

· Hungarian debut for Moto2™. For the second year in a row, the Grand Prix of Hungary will be held at the Balaton Park circuit, located on the shores of the lake of the same name, around 100 kilometres from Budapest. Drawing on the information gathered last season, Pirelli has chosen to offer Moto2™ riders a softer rear allocation, introducing the supersoft SCX at the Hungarian track alongside the soft SC0, which was the benchmark race solution in 2025. Interestingly however, this is not the SCX’s absolute debut at this circuit: the same compound was already used at the beginning of May during the Hungarian WorldSBK round.
 
· Allocation per rider. Each Moto2™ rider will have 8 front tyres available in the soft SC1 compound and 8 in the medium SC2 compound. At the rear, the allocation includes 9 supersoft SCX tyres and 8 soft SC0 tyres. The maximum number of tyres that can be used over the weekend remains unchanged, as set out in the regulations, at 17 in total, comprising 8 fronts and 9 rears.
 
· Moto3™. For the entry class of the Motorcycle World Championship, the soft SC1 and medium SC2 compound options will be available on both axles and can be freely combined by the riders. In 2025, most of the grid tackled the race with the soft SC1 at the rear, paired at the front in some cases with the soft SC1 and in others with the medium SC2.

At Balaton with the aim of making a further step forward
 
“When we head to a new circuit, our initial approach is always cautious: we prefer to opt for solutions that are not excessively soft, so as to guarantee an adequate safety margin should the track prove particularly demanding on tyres. That is why, last season at Balaton, Moto2™ riders had the soft SC0 available as the softer rear option and the medium SC1 as the alternative. This year, on the basis of the data collected in 2025, which showed that the track and its asphalt are not particularly demanding on tyres, we decided to offer an allocation that is one step softer introducing the supersoft SCX at this circuit. It is not an absolute debut on this track for this tyre, as it was already used successfully by WorldSBK riders at the beginning of May, but we believe this compound can also allow Moto2™ riders to make a significant step forward both over a single flying lap and in race pace, thanks to the high levels of grip it is able to provide”.
