PIRELLI CONTINUE TO RULE MXGP AT THE MOTOCROSS GRAND PRIX OF SPAIN IN ARROYOMOLINOS

Jorge Prado wins the MXGP class at his home race while Tim Gajser leads the standings. Tom Vialle returns to victory in MX2 and stretches his advantage in the championship.

The brand new circuit ‘intu Xanadu – Arroyomolinos’ hosted the Grand Prix of Spain for the twelfth round of the 2020 FIM Motocross World Championship. On the hard and slippery soil of the track south of Madrid, Pirelli riders were once again able to count on the fantastic performance and the wide versatility of the SCORPION™ MX32™ Mid Soft front and rear tires which, combined with a medium mousse, allowed the Italian manufacturer to celebrate overall victory in both classes, fill the first four positions of the MXGP championship standings and the first seven in MX2.

With two perfect starts, Jorge Prado immediately took the lead in both MXGP motos and rode free to the finish line, winning his home event. Tim Gajser finished second and extended his lead at the top of the championship table. His closest challengers in the standings, Antonio Cairoli and Jeremy Seewer, finished in sixth and seventh positions respectively.

Tom Vialle, with a first and a second position in the motos, won the MX2 category. The Frenchman enlarged his lead in the standings to 52 points over Jago Geerts, who was second overall and winner of the final moto thanks to a small mistake by Vialle on the last lap. Thomas Kjer Olsen finished third overall again and headed Roan Van De MoosdjikMaxime RenauxJed Beaton and Ben Watson in the classification. Pirelli riders occupied the first seven positions.

In the eighth round of the EMX250 European Championship there is a strong third place for Thibault Benistant who remained at the top of the standings while Kay De Wolf is third. Meico Vettik was runner up in the sixth round of the EMX125 and moves up to second position in the championship.

Next weekend the notoriously difficult Lommel circuit will host the Grand Prix of Flanders, the thirteenth round of the 2020 FIM Motocross World Championship and the first of a triple header to be held on the sandy Belgian track.
