PIRELLI DONATES 65 VENTILATORS AND MEDICAL MATERIAL TO LOMBARDY REGION FOR THE COVID-19 EMERGENCY

Milan, 20 March 2020 - Pirelli, in cooperation with Lombardy’s regional government, is providing support for the healthcare emergency, which has stricken the country and particularly Lombardy, by donating 65 ventilators for intensive care therapy, 5,000 protective suits for healthcare workers and 20,000 face masks.

The medical equipment - which will help the regional government support its hospitals - was donated by Pirelli with the cooperation of China Construction Bank. The material will arrive at Milan’s Malpensa airport on Monday thanks to the joint efforts, alongside the company and its Chinese partners, of the regional government itself, coordinated by the councilor Davide Carlo Caprini, and the Italian Ambassador in Beijing, Luca Ferrari.

Attilio Fontana, president of Lombardy’s regional government, said: “The race to solidarity which has been triggered in Lombardy grows ever bigger. I give particular thanks to Pirelli and Marco Tronchetti Provera for such a significant and valuable donation. These extraordinary gestures give us the strength to go forward even with the critical situations we face every day. Thank you and thank you again to everyone giving us support”.

Marco Tronchetti Provera, Executive Vice Chairman and Ceo of Pirelli, said: “In such a moment of great difficulty, we want to stand together with our region and the country, also thanks to the help of or partners, with an initiative of substance and to support the regional health structures through fast and effective aid. A thank you to everyone who helped us in this undertaking.”
