24 HOURS OF SPA: LAMBORGHINI HURACAN CLAIMS VICTORY IN A THRILLING FINALE. NEW P ZERO DHG TYRES EXCEL AT THE DEMANDING BELGIAN CIRCUIT

As tradition dictates, this year’s 24 Hours of Spa delivered yet another spectacular race, packed with drama, including safety car interventions and full-course yellows, but above all, it remained fiercely contested until the very last lap. After an intense battle spanning 549 laps (3,844 km), the GRT-Grasser Racing Lamborghini Huracan GT3, driven by Luca Engstler, Jordan Pepper, and Mirko Bortolotti, emerged victorious, dominating the closing stages of the race. The Rutronik Racing Porsche 911 GT3 in the hands of Sven Müller, Patric Niederhauser, and Alessio Picariello secured second place, followed by the AF Corse Ferrari 296 (Alessio Rovera, Vincent Abril, and Alessandro Pier Guidi), which set the fastest lap of the race in 2:17.066.

Despite starting 12th on the grid, the Lamborghini steadily asserted its dominance in the final hours, though its rivals, particularly the Porsche, which finished just 8.7 seconds behind, kept the pressure on until the chequered flag.

Over the 24 hours, marked by unseasonably hot and dry conditions for the Ardennes, six different manufacturers - BMW, Ferrari, Lamborghini, McLaren, Mercedes, and Porsche - all led the race at some point.

Ultimately, victory went to those who best interpreted the closing conditions, making use of data from earlier sessions to optimise tyre performance, particularly in today’s scorching afternoon temperatures. This strategic approach was key to securing a winning race pace."

In the GT2 European Series and GT4 European Series, also supplied by Pirelli, Race 1 wins went to Stefan Rosina’s Lamborghini (Team Micanek) and Paul Petit’s Audi (Speedcar), while Race 2 saw another victory for Micanek’s Lamborghini, this time driven by Bonek Formanek, and Berkay Busler’s BMW (Team Borusan).

Over the Spa weekend, Pirelli also equipped cars competing in the McLaren Trophy Europe, where Britain’s Sam Neary triumphed in Race 1 and Sweden’s Erik Behrens took victory in Race 2.
